I already had a 6 inch wire whisk which I love for small projects in small bowls or cups. I liked it so much I wanted a second one. This is the closest thing I could find to the one I had. It seems very sturdy and well made and I can wash it in the dishwasher. Perfect for my needs. I was happy to find this on Amazon. It had good reviews so I am hoping the wires don't pull out. The design of my other one is just like this and I have had it for a long time. It shows no sign of coming apart.
I have a very old spring whisk, but it has a wire handle and is only about 7" long. I needed something longer to reach into deeper bowls and pots as well as something a little easier to hold. This tool meets those requirements.
I can't tell if the whole thing is stainless and the whisk part something else, but it appears no different than my old one. The only difference I noted and why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 - the whisk part is not as large, the wire is not quite as thick and it's not as "springy" as my old one. A little more size, wire thickness and spring would make this perfect.
That said, I like it and am happy with the purchase. This thing is great on sauces, gravies and eggs. Puts a great fluff on eggs and whipped cream and keeps gravies and sauces smooth.
Update 09/23/2014: I'm upgrading this to 5 stars. As it turns out, the smaller whisk head size is an advantage - it fits nicely into a measuring cup and allows room to whisk. Ditto the slightly thinner wire - makes it more useful in small containers. This whisk has had heavy use and is doing a great job. I do think it is stainless - it's been through my dishwasher numerous times and no rust.
It was purchased for beating whole eggs by hand. It works perfectly and very quickly. Much better than a regular or French whisk. because it's not top heavy you can just pop it into a glass or coffee mug with hot water to let it soak before putting it in the dish washer. You will need a deeper bowl than you normally use while beating eggs as this thing really give it a big powerful beating. Very glad that I purchased it.
I use this French whisk at work (daily) for sauce making, as well as most mixing needs. It’s somewhat springy (good for whipping air into egg whites or cream), but still strong and rigid (good for vinegar / oil emulsions), long enough to get some good leverage behind, yet small enough to pack in my knife roll and take with me. Whip up 1 quart of cream in 3 min. or less.
Beautiful, well made stainless whisk. I take it back, extremely well made! I honestly believe that if you would hang it off of a hook, or keep it isolated upside down in a cup on the counter with other like-minded food tools and, not throw it into the junk drawer with your spatulas, that this thing will last FOREVER! The 10" size is perfect for household tasks such as sauces, marinades, eggs and thin batters to name just a little of what this can whisk. If you want to mix cake batter, buy a hand mixer - come on, this is a whisk! My kitchen hand implements go-to company will now be Kuhn Rikon

AWESOME. Works so well. This is a small whisk people! Don't expect a giant whisk, this thing is 8" including the handle. Its perfect for small batch sauces, slurries, eggs etc. If you need to whip cake batter, I would go with a 10". 12" whisks tend to get a little springy when doing large batches of thick liquids, but works great on large quantities of thinner items like whipping cream. All my whisks are Kuhn Rikon now!
I've been wanting one of these for a while, but was worried once I got one it wouldn't be useful. It is. I've used it for beating an egg, but also for mixing things in a mug or a cup, or even a measuring cup - just stick it in and rub it back and forth between my palms the way you'd roll a stick to make a spark for a campfire. And the size isn't bad, I was afraid it might be too small, but for what I wanted it for, having a "smaller" whisk, it's perfect.
You cook? Then you need a spiral whisk. Although you might prefer a slightly firmer "action," this one's pretty good. Up and down, or round and around, it does the job fast and thoroughly.
It's a nice whisk, it mixes stuff well. The handle is on the heavy side so it will sometimes fall out of smaller bowls if you put it down. Make sure you wash it immediately after using because getting dried food stuff out from in between the coils of the spring on the handle is near impossible.
Works pretty good. I like it better than my smaller whisks except for one thing since I mostly use it to scramble eggs in a small bowl the thing is so long that it won't stay in the bowl (it's top heavy, not really a defect, just the way I use it). In a pinch I can even use it to froth milk though it's much better at hand whipping cream.
