Magic Chef MCWC28B 28-Bottle Single-Zone Wine Cooler in Black

I purchased a "Like New" unit via Amazon Warehouse Deal in February, and this unit has performed beautifully ever since! I am a budding wine enthusiast and have started accumulating a number of wine bottles that would be better off aged for 2-7+ years. You could still get this for some cheap Barefoot wine, but I definitely recommend this unit if you're looking to keep the pricey bottles at a constant cellar temperature without actually having a cellar. It was recommended to me that in lieu of a cellar I could shove the bottles needing storage in my closet under some Christmas decorations to prevent oxidation or spoilage, but given my cheap heating/cooling habits, I didn't want to rely on this method to successfully age numerous bottles of wine. I went searching on Amazon, and despite a lack of solid reviews, I purchased this cooler as it was the best value for the money. This unit arrived in perfect condition (despite some heavy damage to the box...thanks UPS), and set up instructions were very simple. Once the plastic was removed, I loaded up the cooler and set the thermostat for 55F. It took approximately 6 hours for the unit to reach 55 (which I verified using an independent thermometer), and it has successfully held that temperature ever since. My apartment varies from 68-78 degrees depending on the weather, but this Magic Chef wine cooler has kept everything at a cellar-like 55F. This unit is incredibly quiet compared to the Haier mini fridge it shares wall space with. I do not realize the wine cooler has turned on unless the apartment is whisper quiet (and even then I have to really concentrate to hear it). My only complaint is that the interior light is not very bright. Light barely penetrates past the first three layers of bottles (if the unit is fully loaded). As the light is not really necessary, I did not remove and stars for this minor annoyance. Otherwise, this is a great addition to anyone in need of a wine cooler!

Purchased this a few weeks ago. Came earlier than they said it would which was nice. Arrived in perfect condition. Just had to find a place for it as it was larger than I anticipated- I hadn't thought to look up the dimensions.
There is no set up. You just unpack it and plug it in making sure you leave enough airspace (5 inches) around sides and back for ventilation. As others have said, it will hold 28 standard wine bottles, but if you have wider bottomed bottles you will need to remove the bottom rack and use that extra space for those bottles. So in reality it becomes more like a 24 bottle cooler which I already was aware of and I'm fine with that. It is a thermoelectric cooler and NOT a refrigerator so it is designed to keep wines cool for storage not cold. Just put a bottle of white/rose in your fridge if you want it cold.
Has chrome-like racks and smoked, mirrored-like glass door and a small interior light panel on top with 3 l.e.d. lights controlled with switch on door. Plus and minus digital temp. controls are on door as well. You just set it to as low as 50 and as high as 66 degrees. The door has a blue digital temp gauge. There is one moving part, a small interior circulation fan that is barely audible.
After plugging it in I set it to 55 degrees. Only took maybe 1.5 hours to reach temp. when empty. Unit thermometer read the same as my digital thermometer. After I loaded it with a case and a half of room temp wines it took around 5 hours to get back to 55 degrees. A plus to the unit is that it also increases the humidity inside to prevent cork from drying out and so far zero condensation issues. My digital humidity meter reads around 65% humidity inside which is ideal.
You don't want to put this unit where there are huge temperature swings so a garage or patio won't work. I have my cooler in a room with a constant 72 degrees and the interior unit temp never varies. So, I have had it just a few weeks, but it silently works just as advertised and no issues yet. Hoping it stays that way for a long time as I'm ignorant of longevity of thermoelectric coolers.

Works great, allows you to select a specific temperature and keeps it there. Nice accent light to view the collection. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay larger bottles don’t fit easily. They need to be jammed in and can only be stored on every other level of the cooler. Otherwise no complaints at all and happy with the purchase.

Update 8/2018: 7 months in and my original wine cooler is still working well. Holding consistent temperature unlikely some of the negative reviews here mention. I like it so much that I ordered a second one. At $139 it was an absolute steal, very functional with most comparable products 2x the price. Sure, some of the wider bottles struggle to fit, but I took off the lower rack and it gives room for 5 bottles easily on that rack for a 28-30 total capacity. Certainly pleased and would continue to recommend.

Update 11/27/18: I liked my first one so much I got a second unit. It keeps temp perfectly and is going strong. Good product for a great price. No quality issues so far.

This is my second one of these wine refrigerators (expanding my wine stock). The first was chosen after trying two other types that did not work. This one works well and seems to be as good as the first, except this one came with very minor damage. The damage was to the cover of the hinge on top of the refrigerator. It is minor so I am not doing anything about it as it does not seem to have any impact on the operation. It took a while to get here but all in all a good experience and a very good product.

Very good cooler with 2 notable exceptions. The shipping protection is not great, as others have reported. Mine arrived with a dent in the back, which didn’t affect the function or appearance, so I didn’t bother to exchange. But make sure you inspect when you get it. Secondly, the temp control isn’t very accurate, not nearly as good as I’ve seen in other thermo electric wine coolers I’ve had. To get a proper temp of 54 I have to set mine as high as 58. It does have a fan on the back and it will run, but it’s not that noticeable. Quieter than most PC fans.

Perfect size for a small apartment! Bottles fit as they should and it looks very nice! Having the light is a nice touch as well. Makes the display look very classy. Couldn't ask for more at this price point.

Nice size, 28 bottles is a bit of a stretch unless they are all the smaller style, but that is true of most/all wine fridges. Much quieter than my older compressor based wine cooler that died.

As a wine lover, I had wanted a wine chiller for quite some time. This one is perfect!

Great wine refrigerator for a great price

Worked as advertised
