CPR CS900 - The Ultimate Retro 3G Flip Cell Phone for Seniors with Unique Red Block Now Button Stopping Robocalls at a Touch of a Button Plus SOS Emergency Assist Function

I purchased this phone for ease of operation and for the emergency features. Recently activated and so far it lives up to the advertised aspects. Being elderly i am slowly going through the process of getting all the features set up and operational. I rated it as 4 star for the reason of the instruction booklet being adequate but for an older person left some features with me scratching my head until that next step came to mind, so the phone is fine I'm the delaying factor. Definately would be a 5 star phone if it had a flip or sliding cover over the sos button. I can visualize my hitting it by mistake while picking up or putting in case.

The product fullfill the needs of the user- A senior user. I would like that the Portuguese language was available. But even with that problem, because is such a simple product, the user adapt well and is happy with the characteristics of the aparatus.

Works great and easy to set up.

The CPR CS900 is the perfect phone if you want to break away from all those apps and social media sites that take up so much of your day. You still have a working phone that’s not taking up much space in your pocket or purse and still has many modern features.
The key feature of this phone is the SOS button feature which allows you to call or text friends, family or the 911 Center if you are in need of help. You choose which contacts get text and which ones get a call. The other great feature is the “Block Now” key which will block those annoying robocalls and telemarketers.
The usual features of modern flip phones are there, flashlight, camera, video recorder, music player, FM radio, texting, email, voicemail, picture directory…etc.
This is an unlocked GSM phone which will work on AT&T and T-Mobile networks and needs a SIM card. I got a SpeedTalkMobile.com (T-Mobile) SIM and account with 250 minutes for $5 a month. AT&T has a SIM $1 and you can pay as little as 25 cents a minute if you only use it for emergencies. T-Mobile still operates 2G &3G networks whereas AT&T operates 3G. I chose a new phone number and called the few people who knew my old number and had them update their phones.
I traded my $50 a month Smartphone service for a $5 a month flip phone service and I am surprised at how much time I have left to do other things than social media and checking apps.
I would recommend this phone to people who don’t need or want all the features of a Smartphone and just want to have a phone to talk with friends and have an emergency phone with you at all times.

Last year I invested in the V5000 call blocker for land lines because the number of robo calls was just getting out of hand and thought why is there no call blocker for cell phones well now there is, and what a difference this CS900 has already made, yes I know it's a flip phone, but the price is right and it does what it's supposed to do hence the 5 stars if there is one negative remark to make, is the charging lead could do with it being a tad longer, like a couple of feet longer.

Have this phone for my 80 year old husband who only liked flip phones. Have CPR call blocker on my home phone so I was excited to find it on a cell phone. After setting it up with some help from CPR service rep Ewelina the phone is fantastic. If you want a basic phone, voice, text and surprise an FM radio this is for you. The volume on the phone is great for elderly and the Fm radio has a very clear tone also. Large buttons and voice tone when dialing. The call blocker button is just a fantastic extra. Additionally CPR has wonderful customer service.

I got this for my Sister-in-law. At nearly 80 she will not touch a computer and forget a touch-screen phone. She HAD to have "real buttons". The did have a candy-bar style phone on Ting's service but that phone's charging port broke. I transferred her SIM (standard size) to this phone and she was back online.

Convenience features for her on this phone are:
+ Flip open to answer - familiar from previous phones
+ Large easy to see/press physical buttons
+ Easy to read screen and outside screen with convenient clock
+ Bright red: she like the color and it's a little less likely to get lost
+ Included charger, cable and charging dock
+ Sim installation is super easy and it takes a standard full size sim card
+ Speaker phone function seems tuned for voice frequencies
+ The "manual" is printed large enough to be readable
+ SOS function common on most senior cell phones is here too
+ The block button for junk calls (but may make it too easy to accidentally block a legit call by accident)
+ Come pre-loaded with a list of known junk caller's numbers
+ Speaking key presses - announced the number as it's pressed (great for limited vision confirmation)
+ Both the included and a much more extensive manual are downloadable
+ She loves the bright red color!

Some things that are not as nice:
- There is no documentation covering advanced Bluetooth features
- The back is very difficult to remove once the battery is installed.

This phone does have some nice features. Like the ability to set a custom ring tone. My sister-in-law didn't like any of the ring tones built-in so I set out to create one she described to me. Turns out this phone has the ability to send/receive files using Bluetooth and use mp3 files as a ring tone! So I was able to give her exactly the ringtone she wanted. Ta Da!

This has been a great replacement for my sister-in-law's old phone and I am sure she would agree it's a step up from that older phone. It's also not expensive and seems well made for the price. It's made us both quite happy now that she has a reliable cell phone again.

At a lowish price and a good physical format with this phone makes it an ideal replacement. That my sister-in-law loves it makes this special to me. This gets 5 stars from me for sure. It nails the senior flip style cell phone space perfectly.

I got this phone for my mother who is 80 years old. I got a free SIM card from AT&T and I subscribed to the $0.25 plan. That plan is wonderful for somebody who almost never uses the phone. They charge $0.25 per minute, and that's it. There is no monthly fee or minimum. So if you make one call for 1 minute for the entire year, your annual spending will be $0.25. That's great for an infrequent user. I believe SMS is cost about the same or maybe it is $0.20. Yes, these are steep prices if you're going to be using it a lot, but for people like my mom, who we are using the phone just for emergencies, then this is all you need.

When you touch the keypad, the phone speaks the number out loud. This gives a double confirmation. So when you push the number 5, you not only see the number 5 pop up on the display, but you also hear the phone saying the number 5. For senior citizens, this is useful.

The way the SOS feature works is simple, but probably too complicated for somebody who is technophobic. You have to program in up to 5 phone numbers that you want it to SMS and then call in case of an emergency.

For example, you can program your son's number, your daughter's number, the hospital, and 911. When you have an emergency, you press the SOS button on the back of the phone, and it sends an SMS to all of the program numbers. And then it starts calling them one by one. The SMS that it sends is customizable. The default message is that you are having an emergency and that you need help.

There is a really crappy camera and phone flashlight built in. I suppose it's better than nothing.

Finally, there is a useful call blocking feature. You just simply press the call block number whenever you receive a call that you don't want. You can press it after you just hung up or when the phone is ringing. The effect is the same. If you accidentally block somebody, you can go through the settings and unblock that person.

The only thing that I disliked is that I could not find a way to reprogram the two main memory buttons. There is an M1 and M2 button. Presumably, you would program your two most important numbers there. That works fine. The problem is that there is no way to change those numbers after you program them in, as far as I can tell. Obviously, you can reformat the whole phone. However, there should be an easier way. One workaround is to program one of the nine speed dial numbers you can have. That way, you can press and hold the three button and it will call whatever speed dial number you have on the button number 3. It's a similar feature as the M1 and M2, but it just requires you holding the key that you want that corresponds to the number that you want. I hope that makes sense.

Anyway, for its intended audience, this is a perfect phone. If you have somebody who just wants a simple phone and doesn't want all the razzle-dazzle that the smartphones of today have, then this is your phone. The call blocking and SOS features are a simple way to sweeten the deal.

Y'know I was thinking of my father when I got this flip phone with call blocker, because he gets lots of Robo calls.... & he answers them all! then tries to argue with them.... "I'm going to call the police!" he will yell... lol he's a character...
Anyways.... He did not like it because of the red color! and because of that he would not even look at it, sigh, what are you going to do? :)
Anyways.... I think this phone is pretty cool myself, it is easy to set up & simple to use....and I hate to say it, but I love flip phones! they are fun to flip open/close & they fit in your pocket so nicely....
I think the BLOCK NOW Robo call blocker is awesome! it is a very handy & cool feature.
The SOS button is a great idea as well....it is easy to set up & it works.
I like how the phone will repeat out loud the numbers you select as you dial/press the #'s confirming you have selected the right one....again, a very good idea.
The pone comes with a nice charging stand... the phone's battery seems to be pretty good, I used it for sporadically/lightly for 5 days before needing to recharge.
This is an unlocked phone that uses a standard Sim card,
The CS900 also has a "flashlight" that offers little light..... and a camera that is "OK" :)
IMO this is a phone who's time has come...and gone & come again :) i think it is a great phone for seniors & anyone that like flip phones.... the Robo blocker & SOS plus the simplified interface make this an attractive choice for those who prefer things... the way they were. lol now that song will be stuck in your head for awhile :)
Anywho... the instruction pamphlet itself is very nice, because the print is large enough to read!
AND it is well illustrated.... if only all instruction manuals looked like this .... it would be a wonderful world once again :)
As I see it this product scores high in the areas that matter most... it is easy to operate - incoming & outgoing call quality is on par with what is normal for me in my area with my smart phone -
And the other features are icing on the CS900 cake...
5 Stars - Quality Product Recommendation

I did not order this product to use with the company's wireless service or for any of the call blocking features. I ordered it because it is a very inexpensive, unlocked GSM phone that works with at&t or any MVNOs that happen to use the at&t network. It works especially well with their prepaid Cricket phone service, and unlike with the Cricket branded phones that are sold there is no $35 charge to "upgrade" your existing phone to this one. You can also switch it to at&t or another prepaid provider as it is not locked to a specific company.

Theoretically, you should also be able to use this phone with T-Mobile or any of their resellers. I have not had a chance to try it on their network though. The phone itself is very simple and easy to use. It's also quite cheaply made though, so you definitely would not want to drop it or put it through any serious stress. The big buttons are especially nice for the visually impaired and those who have trouble with regular touchscreen phones.

I didn't have to test the call blocking feature to know that it won't work. Unsolicited telemarketers don't use real phone numbers in their return caller ID. They assign random numbers that change with every call. It's like a bad game of whack-a-mole. It is impossible to ever block these calls completely because the telemarketers have an infinite supply of numbers they can use. The vast majority of the time these numbers do not even belong to them. They are just randomly generated. The only way that you can get rid of these calls is to not accept ANY calls from numbers that you do not recognize.

You won't find many cheaper, unlocked GSM phones with big buttons that are cheaper than this. Greatcall has a model for around $99, but theirs will only work on the Verizon network. With an at&t compatible phone you have a lot more choices of phone providers at much lower rates than you could ever get from Verizon or one of their resellers.

One word of warning... This phone only works on wireless carriers (or their resellers) using GSM networks. The only two networks in the United States (still) using GSM are at&t and T-Mobile. They are not compatible with CDMA or CDMA+ networks such as Sprint, Verizon or US Cellular. It also will not work on at&t or T-Mobile towers that use only 4G or LTE. Most towers used by these companies will fall back to 3G or even 2G, which are the only modes that this phone will work with. This is fine for voice and texting, which is what this phone is built for. Just make sure that your provider does not require you to have a phone that works on 4G or LTE networks.
