Verso Rechargeable Arc Light for Kindle, Kindle Touch, and Kindle Keyboard (Graphite)

Verso Rechargeable Arc Light for Kindle, Kindle Touch, and Kindle Keyboard (Graphite)

I have been looking for a good kindle light for my 2nd generation Kindle since this summer. I did not want one with batteries. I tried to find the kindle case with the built in light but the ones I found were for the latest kindle. This one has a rechargeable battery through a computer via the usb port. An added bonus is that the kindle usb electrical outlet adapter also works with this light so you can charge it through an electrical outlet too. The light is very small strong LED light that covers the kindle from top to bottom. It is a little pricey but well worth it. I am delighted with it.

I thought this item was a *little* overpriced, but it is worth the extra money. It doesn't have much of a glare, it's bright enough to reach the bottom of the page without keeping my significant other awake, and I love that it's rechargeable. It also fits perfectly on my Kindle 3.

The only thing I wish were different about it is that it came with a carrying case or something. It would be nice if it had come in a hard plastic case so that it doesn't get smashed when traveling. I think the price dissuades people from buying it, but in my opinion it's the best light out there for the Kindle.

I've used it, charged it, and used it again without any problems.

The main reason I've loved my Kindle is that I can carry it with me anywhere and read at any time. Sometimes, though, I find that I want to read in places with less than optimal light, such as dimly-lit restaurants. Given that the Kindle is not back-lit, it's like reading a book in the dark. So I decided to purchase the Verso light. My main criteria was that I wanted a rechargeable light (I despise buying batteries), and I also wanted one that was fairly intense. The Verso fits all my needs. It comes with two different sized clips (one for Kindle and one for other e-readers), which fits very snugly on the top, sides, or even bottom of the Kindle. So one can adjust it depending on where one likes to grip the Kindle. In bed, for example, I often lay on my side, so clipping the Verso to the side of the Kindle works well. The light intensity is just about right. I sometimes I like to read under the bedcovers on cold winter nights, and the light provided enough illumination to do so (it's pretty dark under there!).

Charging the Verso is extremely easy; it comes with a charger cable that plugs a USB port (the cord can also be used to charge the Kindle). I haven't used the Verso for extended periods of time, so I cannot say how long a charge lasts, but I did fall asleep with it on once and it was still going strong after a few hours. The Verso doesn't fit in my Kindle case, but it is compact enough that I can carry it in my pants or even shirt pocket. The only debit is that the Verso appears a tad flimsy, especially the swing-out bar on which the lightbulb is located. I have been a bit worried about the arm breaking off (the arm has to be extended fully for the light to go on), although after using it for about a month during which time I rolled over on it at least once in my sleep, it seems to be holding just fine. I'm quite satisfied with this light and its features.

I ordered a LightWedge, and was disappointed that the battery would not take a charge, so I emailed the manufacturer at the address on the enclosed packaging material, asking if I could return it for a replacement.

Within 24 hrs., I was asked to send my address so they could send a replacement, and not to bother to return the defective light, but to simply throw it away.

The replacement arrived yesterday, and I have to say I LOVE it! It is extremely bright -- much brighter than I ever expected a little book light to be -- I have used the Itty Bitty Book Light for years, and even with it plugged into the wall, it was never half as bright as the LightWedge!

In fact, my boyfriend had to ask me to switch the light to the other side of the Kindle to get the overflow light away from his face, even though I sleep in a hammock above the bed instead of in the bed beside him (the hammock likes my back.)

The only strange thing to get used to is that the brightness of the light on the Kindle screen leaves the rest of the room in darkness so complete that it almost feels like I'm in a cave -- the dark beyond the Kindle is so dark by contrast that it is as though everything else ceases to exist, which never happened with the Itty Bitty.

I'll get used to it. After all, I sat in the Wind Caves with all the lanterns extinguished on the candle lantern tour, and loved every second of it.

One thing I'd love, now that I think of it, is for the LightWedge to make an adapter to attach to a print book.

This is truly the best light accessory for the Kindle 3 currently available; I couldn't be happier with it.

The clip fits *perfectly* without scratching the Kindle's case. It has high-friction pads the sit against the Kindle, so even tipped upside down and shaken, it doesn't come off. The best way to remove it, is to just tilt it off. It comes off easily this way, rather than trying to pull directly up on it.

I like being able to charge it by simply plugging it into my computer or laptop via a USB port. Some reviewers complained about the lack of an AC adapter. Easily fixed! As the Kindle comes with a USB to AC adapter for charging the Kindle itself. I have had no problem attaching the 'plug' part to the charging cord for the Verso light. In fact, both the Kindle's mini-USB cord and the one provided for the light are interchangeable. Another plus! I tend to keep the Kindle's longer (white) cord with my computer and the light's smaller (black) cord with my laptop so that I'm never hunting for one. I love not dealing with bulky batteries. Also, unlike using regular batteries, which can cause the light to dim as they wear down, this never dims. I read nightly for hours - I generally charge the light once a week.

The color is a great match for the Kindle's graphite.

Finally, I chose this "Arc" version of the Verso light over the adjustable "Wrap" style:
Verso Rechargeable Wrap Light for Kindle (Graphite).
I'm glad that I did. The light is always right where it should be. However, if you prefer to be able to adjust the angles, then I would still recommend the "Wrap Light" over the other styles I've seen.

Happy reading!

I'm a huge book fanatic - reading on average a book every 2 days and 90% of which is done with my Kindle. I have a Oberon cover, which I wouldn't trade for the world, but it doesn't readily fit the M-Edge light. Reading in bed has been a real frustration for me, as I wanted something convenient, like the Kindle lighted cover, but didn't want to switch to a different cover after sinking money into the one I already have. This light is absolutely perfect - it doesn't use any adhesive to seat onto the Kindle, is a perfect color match (or close enough), and illuminates the screen perfectly - no glare, not too bright, not too dim. Also, it being a rechargeable device was a huge selling point for me, too. I hate wasting batteries, yet burn through them for book lights. Though the Verso light is a little more pricey than the competition, the savings for batteries (not to mention the elimination of waste) makes the price difference negligible. Though I had qualms about spending $40 for a book light initially, now that I have it, I can honestly say that I feel like I made a very wise investment.

This light is replacing my Book Owl light for my Kindle 2. 1) Love that it's rechargeable with my Kindle cord. I was constantly replacing batteries with my other light (and not the type you usually have on hand of course). Batteries for the Book Owl light only lasted for a couple of evenings. This is rechargeable so no more more expensive battery purchases or finding that I want to read in bed but don't have replacement batteries. 2) The brightness is great! It lights the entire page on the Kindle from top to bottom and side to side. 3) Fits great. The Verso comes with two clips, one for Kindle and one for Nook or other e-readers. 4) The pictures make the Verso light look large and bulky but it's really quite sleek. The light arm swings out and automatically turns on and off based on the position. It's really quite sturdy and looks nice on the Kindle. I can still close my Kindle cover with the light attached. I would highly recommend this light and wish I had purchased it a year ago when I first got my Kindle.

Saw good and bad reviews for this and took a chance; glad I did.
GOOD:
- I love that it's rechargeable via USB. Better yet, it works with the same cable as my Kindle, meaning I can plug it in right after the Kindle and get it going.
- Very lightweight.
- Color goes well with my black 3rd Gen Kindle.
- 2 different clips to attach; the bigger one works on my Kindle + folder holder.
- Swing-out lamp is kind of cool.
- Don't know how long it lasts on a full charge yet, but it's more than 2 hours.

BAD:
- The armature part of the light is a little delicate, so don't bang it around while the light's deployed. That said, I've dropped it (both on and off of the Kindle) and it's been fine.
- I was a little disappointed when I opened it and felt how light it was; afraid I might've gotten some cheap junk like others here have reported. Thankfully, no performance problems at all!

Recommended.

Update 2012: I misplaced it, so I got another one exactly like it. Why mess with success?

I got my Verso Rechargeable Arc Light today and I am sooooo happy with it. I did a lot of research on trying to find just the right one. I didn't want a light too big, and I really didn't want a light that needed the extra cost of buying batteries. I was really surprised at how light weight the Verso is. And I am 2 happy that the Verso fits my Kindle just right. I really didn't want to pay $39.99 for a light. And even though it is pricey, i am so happy with the product. The Verso Light is nice and bright enough to shine across the entire Kindle, without casting a glare, and the arm of the light don't get in the way of reading. As a test, I stepped into a dark room, and I had no problems reading the Kindle at all. I gave the Verso Rechargeable Arc Light a 5 star rating. You do get what you pay for, need I say anymore?

OKaaaay I had to rewrite my review, this was a really good light while it lasted! I purchased in june and by november which is now I'm getting a replacement. I still love that it's rechargeable but I lost connection with my computer meaning I couldn't attach the light to the computer to charge it. It's only been 4 months and I thought it would have lasted at least a year, while amaazon couldn't replace it they were great about giving me the number to call the manufacturer. Awaiting my replacement now, I did however learn my lesson and I did purchase a clip on light in case this happens again. While I will still use and enjoy my verso I will always have a backup plan!!So purchase at your own risk!!!!
