GE PGS950SEFSS Profile 30

This range has been great! It is quite beautiful and so far, works as claims. Because it is installed as a slide-in without an upsweep on the countertop, we needed to use the corner trim pieces. This was never clear in any of the literature and information regarding the oven. Thus, in the corners near the wall, there are two plastic pieces to hide the hole that otherwise would be there. (See 1st photo) If only the oven had been designed a bit better to take care of that. However, in the scheme of things, it is minor. The center grill is absolutely great! I will agree with other reviews that state the control panel is a bit too sensitive. Every time I lean over the over to clean or adjust something, I hit the control panel. Cleaning it is next to impossible without hitting one of the buttons. Maybe in the future, they can come up with an on/off button for cleaning. I have used most of the features on this oven and I love it. Having two ovens is great, even for the two of us. Would not hesitate to recommend this oven. Second photo shows installed oven. We have not yet completed our remodel, so there is no backsplash.

After reading the reviews that perhaps the center burner might not get too hot, we purchased this range because the controls were on the front and not on the back. We love it! Center burner? Cooks awesome once I realized I'm supposed to remove the grate and put the griddle between the 2 side grates ... go figure. Also, our installer explained our 1970's home had a 3/8" gas line when the stove was really designed for a 1/2" line (I think that's right) and the heat quality with all 4 burners + the center burner when all were on might be diminished. So far we haven't used everything at once and it would be rare if we did. We love the super burner -- heats whatever we are cooking quickly, and then simmers to perfection.

The top oven is regular gas and not convection; the lower can cook either convection or gas; we wish the top was dual option too... we love both ovens -- the center rack on the bottom has bearings or something that makes it roll out easily. We love that.

The range is a slide in, but the top overlaps the counter so spills won't link down between the range and cabinet. We love that, too

We would definitely recommend this range.

You can't be a bad cook with this range! This is my first GE appliance ever and I love it. The stainless is difficult to clean, but all stainless is.

My wife and I just got this delivered on Sept. 22nd, which I believe is the first day it was available for sale as it's a new model. She's always wanted a double oven, and we don't have the space for the typical wall model in our condo. I must say it's quite the impressive sight. It looks expensive - and it should because it is expensive for a non-luxury brand. But you get what you pay for - the quality is there and you can see and feel the difference between this and your typical $1,400 range. It comes with an iron grill/griddle that runs on the center 5th burner (the existing grate must first be removed). The iron grates are much lighter than many stoves, so they are easy to remove for cleaning. GE has an excellent reputation for its gas ranges as per Consumer Reports, and I expect this one to be no different. The cooking performance has been excellent on both the stovetop and the oven so far. We haven't tried the convection function yet though, so can't comment on that.

It has a tri-ring burner which is basically three burners in one. It's kind of hard to explain, but really cool once you see it in person. You have separate controls for both ovens on the keypad, which is really easy to operate with just a touch. It can be locked for cleaning or to keep children from playing with it. The upper oven is the smaller one. It's good for pizzas, cookies, cakes, and other smaller food dishes. It's probably the one most people will use most often. The lower oven is the bigger one you'll use for roasts, turkeys and other bulkier foods. The upper oven contains the broiler, while the lower oven has convection capability. A few notes of caution about this model: 1) You give up the storage drawer most ranges have, so be prepared to store all your pans elsewhere; 2) If you have problems bending down or picking up heavy food trays from down low, this model is not for you. The lower oven is basically on the floor and can be hard to access; 3) This model is slightly deeper than many ovens - be sure to measure before buying to ensure nearby cabinet doors and drawers will still open without hitting it; 4) Lastly, understand that this is a slide-in model, which means the sides aren't finished and you'll have a gap between the back of the range and the wall if your space isn't made for this type of range.

All said, this was a fantastic purchase, and we're very happy with it so far. At the time of this writing, according to GE this range is a one of a kind - it is currently the only double oven slide-in gas range made. There is a stand-alone version in gas/electric (finished sides and backsplash) and an electric slide-in version of this model for those who prefer those types of ranges. People who desire Wolf, Viking, Dacor, etc. need not apply, as this is not a wanna-be pro range meant to compete with those, as they start at $1-2K more. But it compares favorably with GE's higher-end Cafe and Monogram lines. If you're shopping for the top of the line of a mid-tier brand and you can afford one, I highly recommend this model.

*UPDATE* - after living with this range for nearly 18 months now, I can update people on the reliability of this range. It has been rock solid without a single problem. However, it scratches unusually easily. We have a few ugly scratches front and center despite being very careful with it. So beware of that issue. Also, the black metal caps on the burners permanently stain if just about anything but water spills on them. So watch for that as well. Other than those two things, we have not a single complaint.

This range is wonderful. My wife bakes a lot and the temp is dead on. we also do a lot of canning. The double burner brings our 30 Qt caner up to temp in no time and pressure is easily controlled. It is spendy but worth it to make momma happy. Install was easy the most time consuming part was getting the height rite and getting it level. We have tile floors so obviously they are not perfectly level. My wife done a bunch of research on ovens and this one provided the best bang for the buck. Well worth the price I would say.

Profile 30" Stainless Steel Gas Slide-In Sealed Burner Double Oven Range - Convection

We recently installed this range in a kitchen island during a renovation. The installation specs and instructions were spot-on, making the electrical, gas plumbing, carpentry, and counter fabricator's jobs less complicated. (The range does have a small overhang on the sides to prevent food from falling between the range and counters, so make sure to take that into account in your design.)

Functionally, I'm (mostly) thrilled with my new range. Burners light quickly without the large flare some gas burners exhibit, and the gas burns evenly. The ovens heat quickly, and I don't notice the kitchen overheating like it used to with my 2-year-old oven in my last house. The oven doors open smoothly, without the hard tug some doors require, and they stay open until you're ready to close them. This latter seems like a small thing until you have a door that constantly wants to close on you while you're sliding a heavy pan onto the racks.

I've deducted one star because the oven temperature seems to consistently be low. Not only do cookies and biscuits take 3-7 minutes longer than usual, my thermometer shows the temperature is several degrees off. I haven't yet looked into anyway to address this (just finishing the renovations), but I expect a range this expensive to work as advertised on installation.

    Side note:
I expect to use the top oven 90% of the time, but am thrilled to have the bottom oven when I need something bigger or a second dish. For those who are debating whether the double oven is worth it - I'd say for me, it definitely is. I'm very happy I went ahead with this instead of a single oven, even with the greater expense.

This is a fantastic range. It pretty much is what it claims to be. We had to convert it from natural gas to propane, but this was easy and the instructions were straight forward. The oven temperature control is spot on when checked with oven thermometer. The cast-iron grill for the middle burner has so many uses we never imagined till available in the kitchen, e.g. grilled toast is so much better than toaster toast. The Amazon price is great too; we saved a couple hundred dollars buying it from Amazon rather than the local big-box store.

Very good. Be aware that the back corners are rounded and not a straight 90 degree angle. Didn't bother me because I bought this just before I totally remolded that kitchen anyway. Be aware that this is designed to slide into a space and overhang the counter edges. It cannot be put at the end of a run. The pot boiler is amazing and the double ovens are very useful.

The only thing I don't like is the top oven rack. It is very hard to pull our especially when loaded. It was very dangerous as I was pulling meat out to baste and had to be careful not to spash scalding meat dripping on my hand. Conversely, the bottom rack glides as smooth as silk.

Last Thanksgiving I broke the door spring on my ancient oven (it was in the house when I bought it, 25+ years ago). Yes, it could have been fixed, but it had annoying quirks that I had lived with long enough!. This was my dream stove, the beginning of a long-awaited kitchen update. I had it installed in January. I love the double oven, and the griddle stays on the stove top nearly all the time. The seasoning on the griddle suffers when I flip it over to use the grill grate (mmmm, grilled pork chops night before last, delicious!), but I rarely have problems with my pancakes even then. I find it easy to clean, and just use a bit of baking soda and elbow grease when there is discoloration. But heck, it's a stove, I don't expect it to look like it is still in a showroom after a year.

Now this is nothing to do with the stove, but more information for those, like me, who bought an older home and don't know what to expect when trying to update things. My gas line into the kitchen hadn't been touched EVER! It was up to the code in effect in 1949, and the plumber I called to install the new stove couldn't install it until the valve was updated, which also involved some of the piping. All very correct, it wouldn't have been safe or even legal for him to have done otherwise. But I hadn't budgeted for that, and I was serving beans for a few weeks after the work was done. Plan ahead!

One downer. I have one burner on the stove top that has to be lit manually. It has never lit just from the sparker. That burner also is the weakest flame, good for a simmer but not to bring anything up to a boil. That's okay, I have four other burners to work with. I've just never had a stove with a simmer burner before.

Love it so far! We've used both ovens (at once), broiler, all the burners, convection - it works great! So much better then the Frigidaire electric range. Low simmers. No boil overs. No more warped pans. Excellent temperature control. Rice cooks perfectly.
