EZVIZ FULL HD 1080p Outdoor IP PoE Surveillance System, 4 Weatherproof HD Security Cameras, 8 Channel 2TB NVR Storage, 100ft Night Vision, Customizable Motion Detection, ONVIF Compliant

System: This is about as easy as it gets. Unpack, plug a few things in, answer a few prompts from the NVR and you are up and running. They even give you 4x 100' ethernet cables in the kit so it's a turnkey system. A little practice and you can move through the configuration screens tweaking operation for your needs. Cameras appear sturdy but only time will tell if they hold up the the rain and snow.

Remote App: The remote app works fine (using iPhone 7 with latest op sys) on a line with 5Mbps "up". Scanning the code on the unit makes the connection for the app so their remote portal knows where you are.

Downside: The motion record feature seems overly sensitive regardless of where you set the "Sensitivity" slider. Still playing with that though. I'm not a fan of having to use the vendors portal to get remote access to the cameras (one more link in the chain that can go down, also privacy issue) but my friend has a Nest and it's the same story there. Bonus that the portal is free to use.

Overall I think this is a very nice entry level system, especially for $400.

UPDATE: Been running a few weeks now. Web access has been solid, I use it several times a day/night. System runs great, cameras work fine day and night. Evidently you are limited to the camera style that comes with the kit. Honestly, for $400 approx this is a good basic starter system.

UPDATE II: The base DVR is kept heated to 50F during the winter but the cameras are obviously out in the elements. They just went through three nights of polar vortex at -20F+ and performed fine. When spec'ing equipment which is made overseas you eventually get that butt clench moment where you wonder if it'll perform as required. Pleasantly surprised that there were no issues with the extreme cold.

I am very pleased with this product and have been using it for a few months. I bought the 8 channel with 4 camera so that I could expand later (which I will definitely do). The build quality is excellent and the set up was so simple. The directions provided make this truly a DIY project. The hardest part is running the cat5 cabling. Luckily I have a 4 port switch in my living room that I connected the NVR to and then fished the cat5 up through the wall into the attic. From there it was just a matter of getting the wires where I needed then and drilling holes on the exterior. Depending on where your router/switch is it may not be as easy. But to be able to power the camera solely with the ethernet cable is great and results in a nice clean install.

The NVR interface is a little bit challenging and I haven’t been able to find a lot of documentation on it. But as you navigate around you get used to it. But honestly, I only used it to play around with the motion detection. For everything else you’ll end up viewing the cameras through the EZVIZ mobile app.

The mobile app is very user friendly and has a great interface. If you have multiple EZVIZ devices (wired, wireless, etc.) you can see them all in one single app which is really nice. The app allows you to see a live view or any of the recordings. This camera system (unlike others) is constantly recording and writing to your NVR. As it fills, it will over write older footage. I can see 6 weeks worth of video footage across all 4 cameras. I have mine set to Hi-Def but it you change it to standard you likely will be able to retain more like 8 weeks. As you see something that you want to retain the app allows you to take a photo or a recording and save it to the app. This is handy so it doesn’t get over written. And you can easily share by saving it to your camera roll and then texting or emailing it. For alerts, you can enable alarms for each camera and set a specific notification schedule for each of them which gives you a great amount of flexibility. For example, you may want alerts to be active 24/7 for the camera looking at your pool, but for the one focused on your driveway you only want alerts to be sent between the hours of 9pm-7am.

A few things bother me about this but certainly not enough to make me want to return it (although one of them may, more on that in a moment).

• My biggest concern is around the motion sensitivity. Seems as though there is a bug in the firmware where the first 2 settings of sensitivity do nothing and the other settings are too sensitive and trigger alerts way too often. The NVR allows you to pin point where you want motion to trigger but without the lower sensitivity levels working I’ve had to turn this feature off and this is a pretty critical piece. I will say that their Tech Support has said they are aware of the issue but I have not been made aware of any fix for it yet. I assume it would come in the form of a firmware update on the NVR but do not know for sure. This was their response to my initial inquire back in late July … ”As of now there is still no fix for motion detection on our NVR system but we are working on a fix for this issue as it can be either to sensitive or not sensitive at all.” I just sent another request for an update and I will update this review as necessary regarding this issue. It’s been over 2 months of me following up and in my opinion, they should have figured out a fix by now.

• The NVR fan is a bit noisy. Not a big deal during the day (we have it in our living room under the TV) but at night you can definitely hear it.

• Playback from the app works fine but it every time you drag to move the time frame it has to reload for a second or two. It doesn’t have a preview video scrub to show you the footage as you scroll. It would be really nice if you can drag along the timeline and see the footage so that you can easily pin point where any activity occurred. As it stands now, you have to drag it over, let it load, drag it again, let it load, etc. Kind of a pain. But, I guess if the motion alerts were working as designed this wouldn’t really be an issue.

• Can not live stream for 5 minutes but that usually is sufficient to check in on things.

• No audio – but I knew that going in. I think they have other outdoor cameras that support audio. I’ll look into that for my front door coverage.

Overall, I think this product is a great value. For under a $100 per camera and with a 2TB NVR it really does pack a powerful punch. I have friend’s that have paid 3-4x for their camera systems and you really can’t see much of a difference in picture/video quality and this unit has enough bells and whistles to keep me happy and safe.

Amazing cameras for the price you can't go wrong with these i made an unboxing video on YT for these look up breaking elegance on youtube to watch a full unboxing and i will be doing a full setup video as well if anyone is interested. but if you're looking for amazing cameras for this price range this is the right one

Ordered this model after going through 2 wireless systems. One zmodo w/nvr amd onwote 8 camera wireless aystem with repeater. Both were junk. So far this one never dropped signal becauae it is hardwired. I had a little bit more work to run all the lines but it was so worth it. The clarity is awesome we have had the system up in the house for 3 days. Now we placed them outside and it has been amazing. Ill update in about a month! Thank you EZVIZ.

UPDATE:7/20/2017
So I have finally set up all of the features to this system. The iffft works wonderful. The app works great for notification....however the sensitivity issue on this particular model is flawed. I just got off the phone with the US support service because I keep getting notifications that there is motion. The motion is being caused by a flaw in the firmware. When you adjust this on the NVR the first two settings are set at "0" and will not recognize any movement. The middle setting is set as default is set at the highest. According to the EZVIZ support they are working on a fix for this. Apparently it is only on this "X4" model. That is the only complaint I have. Also since I have the 8 camera system but only 4 cameras hooked up every day it does a check and sends me a notification that I have 4 cameras offline. Other than that I truly love this system. I would hope that EZVIZ or HIKVISION fixes this asap.

Can HIKVISION contact me about this?

Very good. In fact, this exceeded my expectations both with the user interface and picture quality.

Already had cat 5 security wires installed in our newly built house. Was easy to install the cameras with templates that came with set. Great DVR. Setup was a little confusing with directions not realizing it covers other systems they sell that requires a cloud service that this unit does not need due to the DVR. DVR programming could be a little bit better on user friendly side.

Pretty amazing kit for the price. The only con I would say is that the motion tracking is too sensitive and the night vision is probably more about 45 ft but for my purposes its been great. I have one on each corner of my house. I can access the cams from my computer or phone at any time and review footage. I also bought the 360 indoor cam and I love how that integrates into the system!

So easy to install, it only has one cord. Picture is super clear in day or night time viewing. I have these hardwired cameras and also Nest Cams. I love nest cams but there is a monthly fee for them.

EZViz Con: Motion sensing is too sensitive. I kept getting texts when a fly or shadow would enter picture. Hopefully they come out with an update to fix the sensitivity problem (Nest has amazing Person, motion, sound sensors)

Have had these for a little over a year. Use at my business and have captured people trying to break into business with license plates. Mounted about 14' high and over 25ft out. Very good camera system.

The camera system works flawlessly and was super easy to set up and enable mobile viewing. The setup was intuitive and took only a few steps including scanning a QR code to sync the entire system to the mobile app. Running the cat5e cable was the longest part of the process, but worth the time to have all wires hidden directly up through the camera base, through the attic and into the equipment room. I bought the 8 channel with 4 cameras and added 2 more at the time of installation. So easy, I will be adding two more for a total of 8 cameras covering the entire exterior and property.
