I’ve owned this speaker system for 3 years. The best speakers I’ve ever owned. I also have several Bose systems. Phantom speakers with the dialogue is the purest sound I’ve found. You need to have some technical abilities to connect the system. Plugging the speakers into a common electrical line such as a surge protector will eliminate bugs and lost connections to WiFi or speakers cutting out intermittently. I highly recommend these speakers. While there is some effort to getting the connectivity correct, it’s well worth the effort.
Only problem is when I get email or alerts it blinks the sound since I run it off iPad. That aside it’s got the fullest sound ever. I am completely satisfied with it. Only problem is when to play so I don’t blow others peoples ears off. Love love love it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤓

I will update as my time with this great item continues. Best sound for the price, with only one cable for power. Easy to set up, the app is still too beta though. I would get random volume spikes, which can be terrifyingly loud. I have figured out how to airplay from phone without opening the app, which seems to have solved that issue. My neighbors have noticed the clean clear music coming from this smallish, 26lb speaker. I believe a couple of them will be adding at least one to their homes as well.
Great value compared to most other setups that I have looked at over the years. Not sure that I would ever need to “upgrade” to silver or golds; or even add a second. Just stellar.
First off, I must state that I am an audiophile with a system that, over the years, I have put together for about $60,000 or so. For those that are curious, this system includes Von Schweikert VR-4JR Speakers, a Cary Audio SLI-80 F1 Tube Amp, Rega RP-6 turntable with an Ortofon 2m Black Cartridge, and an Italian made Lector CD player with Tubed output section. I constantly roll tubes in my amplifier and probably have more invested in tubes alone than most people have in an entire system.
Point being I know good audio. And the Devialet Phantom gold is good audio. I would even say GREAT audio!
I stumbled upon this product when I was in a high-end audio store in Los Angeles, buying speaker wire (spent $500 on the wire...got the cheap stuff LOL).
The day I was there, two young French reps from Divialet were doing an in-store demo. I was intrigued by the Phantom even before I heard it, and asked what it was. Actually, they had two Phantoms there...a silver and the gold. I asked for a quick demo and watched them kind of fumble though connecting it to their phone. They even said they were having “connection issues”. At first I was like hmmm. But then they got it going and…I was dumbfounded at the sound!
I asked to hook up my own phone and that was much easier (via Bluetooth). I played some of my own tracks and was even more impressed. I immediately preferred the Gold over the silver, and in fact I pretty much had zero interest in the silver once I heard it. But that GOLD!! Tight, solid and LOW bass (Tested using a few tracks from Bedouin Soundclash’s Debut “Sounding a Mosaic”, which has some extreme low end), clear mids and an airy high end.
I was actually shocked by the thing, and called my wife who was buying pillows up the street (a pillow addict…maybe the 35th pillow she bought in the last year). I said, “honey, come see this real quick, it might be cool for your office ONE DAY LONG INTO THE FUTURE”.
She shows up and listened to half a song and said, “we are buying this now!”.
We walked out with the floor model.
It sounds just as amazing at home, although we did have some initial connection issues. It seems to work better on Wifi and the latest version of the firmware does support Airplay which works very well.
Occasionally we will have to press the reset button but it’s a small price to pay for true high fidelity sound any where we want (even outside!). Mostly, though, it just works.
The fact that it is MONO (unless you buy two and Devialet’s connection piece), doesn’t phase me a bit…the sound is so incredible and solid that it’s just…well…FUN.
If I didn’t have a true high end two channel set up, I may feel differently…I love to hear the dimension and depth in recordings and a single speaker doesn’t get you that. For serious listening I am in the sweet spot on the couch with my two channel set up.
But for any other application, I go to the Phantom Gold. When it comes to casual listening with palpable kick you in the gut bass, clear mids, extended highs and true “texture” in any room, and for sheer ear to ear grinning enjoyment, nothing beats this thing.

I purchased two Phantom Golds, a dialog, remote, and tree stands for use in a dedicated listening room. Before this setup I had all separate audiophile level audio equipment, but decided I wanted to simplify my setup and move to integrated, self-powered speakers. I can echo many reviewer's frustrations at the setup process with these speakers, and I agree that at this price point it really shouldn't be this hard. That being said, now that everything is setup and stable, the sound is fantastic and a lot of fun to listen to.
I don't use the Spark app as I find it clumsy and awkward, and instead opt to use Roon via a streamer with optical output to one of the Phantoms. I solved all connection issues I was having by running CAT6 cable to each speaker and to the dialog. I couldn't get the speakers to stay properly connected as a stereo pair via wireless even though I have a very robust home network system. Fortunately for me CAT6 line from the router was conveniently located and it was easy to accomplish.
Overall I am thrilled by the sound and impact these speakers have, and love not having an entire rack of audio equipment to mess with. These speakers eliminate the need to hunt down the magic synergy of matching an amp to the preamp and to the speaker with the right cables in between. These have a huge sound stage, pitch black backgrounds, clear highs and mids with an impressively impacting low end. I've used audiophile power cords with them but I heard no difference from using the standard cheap cords. I do recommend using the remote for volume control to eliminate the need to open an app (and stare at a screen) for volume adjustment during or between songs.
In summery, I love the sound these speakers provide. I don't see myself making any changes anytime soon and it has quelled my audiophile itch. The one caveat is that speakers of this design level and price point shouldn't be so frustrating to work with, and the Spark app isn't close to comparing with other digital music interfaces. If you are willing to deal with these issues the payoff can be great.
Awesome sound - unbelievable quality and simplicity in design.
I have just a single Phantom Silver with no Dialog. It works well with Bluetooth and with Wi-fi. The remote volume control app for iOS worked and then stopped working for some reason. I've had to reset the speaker a couple of times but it's been pretty reliable in the 2-3 months I've had it.
The sound quality is very good, though I'm not an audiophile. Even at high volumes, the sound is undistorted and clean.
The spark apps for MacOS and iOS work well.
Purchased a single Devialet Phantom Silver for my 25 year old son for Christmas. The gift was truly the gift highlight of Christmas Day. Right out of the box, the Phantom worked perfectly. I am not an audiophile by any means, yet even at it's highest volume, the sound quality was crystal clear and with no ambient distractions. I had to laugh when he opened the package (beautifully assembled btw), because we were in my living room, surrounded by huge speakers in each corner of the room, turntable, receiver and CD player. The sum total was a ton of occupied space and massive weight in comparison to this twenty three pound work of art whose sound blew my big, and not modest system, out of the water. A tremendous product. Vive La France.
