So far, so good. It was definitely easy to install. It sometimes takes a few seconds for the app to connect but I have had no problems so far. I live in a condo with master keyed locks for our management company, so I didn’t have the option to swap out the lock for something like the August Locks. Was worried this wouldn’t be strong enough but it works great every time. I love having the history on the app even for when the lock is manually locked and unlocked. Great price! I just placed an order for the WiFi adapter so might update after I receive that!
Works well and the app is MUCH faster than the Kevo. However, I have never been able to get the auto open function to work and the knock, knock function works about 10% of the time. Additionally, the product is bulky, kinda ugly and feels cheap. But if you need a smartlock without replacing your current lock, this is it.
I normally don’t write reviews, don’t ask me why. Today I have some free time and I recently installed this for my parents apartment complex. I am going to say that the unit is fairly large but the install process is dummy proof.
I wanted my parents to be able to unlock their doors when they forget their keys. YES, they are at the age where they at times forget their keys but NEVER forgets their phone.
Nevertheless but to the unit. The door handle from this apartment complex is abnormally positioned but it wasn’t a problem since the 3-M tape IMO makes it incredibly easy to install and figure out. Once install, programming was really basic.
Teaching my parents who are just limited iPhone users was the true test and they passed without a doubt. The app makes it easy for them how to use even though they speak limited English. The picture of the lock really helps.
Finally, the tap to unlock never worked but it’s okag we didn’t buy it for that feature. Instead, the lock in fact helped my dad who had trouble locking the doors with his key. This sesame lock instead solved that problem!
This is truly a flexible device. My apartment has these exotic Italian blah blah blah doors that aren't compatible with any other other smart locks.
And then here comes Sesame and adjust to even the weirdest of knobs.
It's insanely easy to install and it looks very discrete.
The knock to open takes a little getting used to and even though you can still manually rotate the knob, i find myself opening the app just to get out of the house.
Solution to this would be to have the WiFi dongle so then I can tell Alexa or Google Home to open the door for me and then just knock on my phone to get in when i come back. Too bad they don't come together but I understand the company is starting and they gotta do this sort of thing.
Great product overall with a few downsides.
I bought my Sesame a little over a year ago and I'm just as happy with it now as when I first set it up. I originally got it because I'm a renter and it was (still is?) the only smart lock on the market that doesn't require replacing the deadbolt. Compared to several other home automation devices I use, the Sesame ranks at the top of the list as far as reliability and ease of use. I'm also pleasantly surprised that the batteries have managed to last as long as they have – it's still using the original batteries and the app reports 79% battery life remaining.
The only problem I've experienced was when the motor got jammed at one point, and attempting to lock or unlock would just result in a clicking sound. I emailed support and they very quickly replied with a helpful video on how to unjam the motor as well as mentioning that they would replace the unit if that didn't work. Thankfully the video was a huge help and I was able to fix it in just a few seconds. No problems experienced since.
I really appreciate that the people over at Candy House listen to their customers and implement requested features as well as constantly update the iOS app. Just one wish: native HomeKit support please!
If you decide to get a Sesame for yourself, I highly recommend also getting the WiFi module. The bluetooth connectivity is great but limiting; the WiFi module allows for remote access and control which adds to the convenience factor by a large margin.
Overall I'm extremely happy with it and would definitely buy one again in a heartbeat.

The Sesame Lock is a great concept, and it does for over most deadbolts.
With that being said, it does for over my deadbolt, I have one of the deadbolts that has a vertical pin that connects with the wall. And it worked....sort of. It worked for locking and unlocking the door with the Sesame. But when I lock/unlock my door with the key, it doesn't turn the knob, which in turn means that the Sesame gets confused and thinks the lock is still locked when it's really unlocked.
That's not a fault of Sesame, but I still am not able to use it properly.
Quite possibly one of the easiest things to install period. I live in an apartment and we have master keyed doors for maintenance. I can't use any of the normal computer locked stuff but this is amazing. Having something like this works beautifully for apartment living especially since leaving my keys at home is amazing for jogging.

Easy peasy install out the box and app set up is on point. Only get this for temporary solutions, find other smart locks if you on the property or have an independent bolt lock. Gave it a 4 star because I hate when companies nickle and dime. This device needs a WiFi adapter in the box, not sold separately. Bluetooth works great but WiFi will enable lock/unlock outside of Bluetooth range. So Sesame, you get a 1 star knocked off. Sell a complete package in the future
Pros: Easy install, easy to use
Cons: Battery life is not good enough. Manufacture says 'the batteries are good for 5000 actions' but probably it is not. I changed original battery after 2 months use.(10 actions per day uses)
Auto unlock feature not working properly-it sometimes works.
