Hubs was having trouble trying to sleep-in (suppose to be one of the perks of retirement you know) so I ordered black-out curtains for our bedroom. They should have been sold as dim-out curtains because they did not black-out. I did not return them because they did look nice so I ordered this fabric and used Command Picture Hanging Strips to attach a panel inside each window frame between the glass and the curtain and WOW! This fabric is true black-out material. Hubs is happy and that makes me happy and a happy me gives 5 stars!
My windows are 35X52 inches each so I ordered 2 yards - cut that into two 1-yard panels and used 4 (Large size) Command Picture Hanging Strips attached to the top of each panel so the only part attached is the very top. We can draw the panel over and let light in or simply remove the panel because the loop feature of the Command Picture Hanging strips will allow us to remove them and easily reattach them as we need.
I also want to comment on something said in a negative review about the fabric being crumpled at one end - the fabric was rolled onto a 59" heavy duty cardboard tube and shipped in a long narrow box. I'm sure the fabric was fine when packaged, but I didn't expect the shippers to transport this long narrow tube lying down - I expected it would be stood on one end to take up less space. So yes, the bottom end was a little crumpled but as soon as it arrived I removed it from the packaging and smoothed out the crumples and rolled it back onto the tube and left it lying flat in an out of the way spot and by the time I hung the fabric in my windows today you could hardly notice the few wrinkles left and what is left won't be visible to anyone now that they panels are hung.

I've had blackout curtains in my bedroom for the last 10 years, and I thought they did a great job...until I bought this fabric! Zero light makes its way through, and that's exactly what I wanted. You'll have no idea what time it is and can sleep to your heart's content.

I purchased 4 "blackout" curtains ranging in price from $15 to $45 per panel. NONE of them worked to my satisfaction. So I purchased $10 curtains and sewed this on the back myself. It is perfect! Darkens baby's room and keeps some of the afternoon direct sun heat out as well. Couldn't be happier with this purchase.

I ordered 9 yards of this material to be cut and sewn onto the back of our bedroom curtains to make them blackout curtains. The material arrived smoothly rolled onto a large cardboard roll, and was even better than I expected. Absolutely NO light comes through, even when a flashlight is held directly against it - nothing! The material cut easily with clean edges and was easy to sew onto our existing curtains.

This stuff is incredible. Extremely malleable fabric but allows ZERO light through. I took a high-powered flashlight and held it under one layer of fabric and couldn't see an ounce of light. I used this to cover the windows in my daughters nursery and even with the sun beating down directly on the window, the room is so dark you can easily see her glow in the dark stars on the ceiling glowing. However, to achieve this level of darkness, you need to cut and mount the fabric perfectly in the window. The only light that will come through is around the edges of the fabric

I also read a review saying that adhesive backed velcro does not work or stay on this fabric. I disagree. I used only several small lengths of adhesive velcro to hang these and it has held strong for a month and still going.

This bestselling blackout drapery muffles sound and helps reduce out-of-room noises at the window. Perfect for homes nurseries schools and workplaces this drapery lining insulates and helps keep rooms cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. This 3-pass lining allows you to use the lining as a standalone drapery if desired because it features a layer of white foam black foam then a third and final layer of white foam to achieve 100% blackout with both sides of the lining remaining white in color.

I purchased 14 yards to create four blackout bedroom curtains. Product arrived quickly rolled up on a heavy cardboard spindle, just like you would see at a fabric store. The fabric is a lightweight oil cloth that blocks light 100%. The material handles and folds like a fabric. Unlike fabric, be careful with placement of needles. Any puncture of this material may create a pinpoint of light that may show through the curtain. I was able to iron with a steam setting if there was fabric between the iron and this blackout lining. I’m very pleased with this lining and will use it again in future project requiring blackout.

Seems fine to me, very lightweight, easy to cut with big scissors, easy to handle and it blocks the light. I bought a roll 4x the basic size and it came on a very solid cardboard center that weighed considerably more than the product, no folding used so no hanging needed and no creases. Will buy more of this again, for the same purpose.

Used thumb tacks to attach to the wood siding of the windows in all 3 bedrooms in our house. Phenomenal. If attached and sealed close to the window, the room is pitch black. Even with a loose attachment it is still almost impossible to see. Terrific.

Used it to make a black-out tent for plants. Great stuff. The only thing I'd mention is that pins and stitching does leave little holes, so measure twice, sew once. If you rip something out, you'll probably get some light leaks.

I work midnights and must have my windows blacked out. I used a tension rod (so it can be flush with the window frame) and some fabric glue... made this fabric into curtains to put behind my existing ones... it's PERFECT. I'm ordering more to do the rest of my bedroom windows.
