My fiancé needs the sound of a fan to sleep. He usually uses a real fan which drives me nuts! The real fan is too big and takes up too much room in the small bedroom in our condo and since we live in New England the room is typically freezing when he uses the real fan during the fall, winter & spring. I would crank up the heat (and my heating bill) or sleep in another room. He would take a smaller real fan on business trips because he has trouble sleeping in hotels as well. Taking the smaller real fan takes up too much room in the suit case. He's used various apps but they just do not work the same way (complains of the looping). I bought the LectroFan Micro for him for Christmas.... This thing is TINY (fits in the nightstand drawer when not in use or right in your purse). Almost the size of a make up compact or small travel jar of face cream. He raved about this product and so do I. No more big ugly fan and freezing cold bedroom. Bonus is you can play music using blue tooth (great for the beach). There are several sounds on the micro. It's not a huge sound menu but typically those who need a sound machine favor one or two sounds anyway. I highly recommend this product! LectroFan - Micro, Wireless Sound Machine With A Twist, White
I have the original LectroFan and this LectroFan Micro. This one is just as loud and has some of the same sounds. It's a very powerful machine, and once you get the hang of it it's super easy to use. The only problem is if someone else has to use it. We use it for my daughter's room and when she sleeps at her grandparent's she takes it with her. It is pretty difficult to get the volume you want because you inadvertently change the sound. It also always comes back from grandma's house on a different sound and volume, not on purpose. The buttons are: short press for on, short press for volume up, long press for change sounds, short press for volume down, long press for volume up. They are VERY sensitive. It's a great machine, but there's no reason there can't be separate volume and sound change buttons, especially since you can't see what sound it's on, so it's a lot of time wanted trying to find the sound and volume you like. But, if you want a powerful sound machine that is portable and fits in any bag, this is it! Oh did I mention, the sounds are non-looping so they sound very authentic (which means a lot to me since I'm very sensitive to sounds).
We finally broke down and started using white noise with our 3 month old. The quality of the sound is amazing. It actually sounds like a fan or engine of some kind. We haven't used the bluetooth functionality yet, but for the white noise alone it's worth it. We love that there is no looping in the sound. Our favorite is the ocean sound right now. The unit is hefty feeling and there is also a nonskid bottom. It feels very high quality.
My only nitpick is that the button use is a bit odd. There is an on/off button and two cycle buttons which also serve as volume buttons. To cycle you single click either the left or right button, and to adjust volume you hold the buttons down. It would work better the opposite way, though, because it's difficult to judge how much you're adjusting the volume and sometimes end up cycling to the next sound by accident. It would be better if you held the button down to cycle and single clicked to adjust volume. The other strange thing is that the left button increases volume and the right one decreases it--which is opposite of what you would assume--kinda irritating in the middle of the night when you're trying not to wake your baby up.
UPDATE!
Welp, our son is now 5 months old and we really, really love this thing. It is a staple in our bedroom and now if it dies in the middle of the night, we all wake up. This is going to be part of my go-to baby shower gift now.
The battery life doesn't seem to be what is advertised so we keep it plugged in most nights to prevent it turning off (picture me frantically trying to find the port (which is upside-down?) while the baby stirs). I'm still leaving five stars because it is so awesome, but I wish they would address the button holding issue.
UPDATE 2!
Our son is now 23 months old and we're expecting our second. We still love this thing, so much that we bought another one. We did have to contact the company because one quit charging and would die in the middle of the night, but they sent us a replacement at no cost. I think that is more an issue with the micro-USB port than the unit because it's the same problem you get with cellphones when you have to frequently plug and unplug them. I still love it. We keep one in his diaper bag for traveling. We have also started using one ourselves. It's also great for car rides since you can stick it in the back near little one to drown out talking/music in the car so they get their nap in. Love, Love, love this product, despite its few flaws. We have also changed our favorite sound preference to the more "brown noise" ones. Those are the deeper, lower ones that sound more like a computer humming than a fan running. Just personal preference, but I find it so soothing. I would love to see them replicate a heartbeat noise! Anyway, don't hesitate to get this affordable white noise option!
This little thing is amazing. I'm the person who sleeps with a fan on all year long because I need the background noise, but sometimes it gets chilly. This sound machine makes me think my fan is on. It's tiny so I can put it anywhere, no clutter or bulk, and it gets loud! I've tried using sounds on my phone in place of a fan but the sound is always a bit pitchy, and I need the low-tone background noise. Pitchy is not an issue with this product at all. The volume is fully adjustable and there are plenty of options as far as sounds go (there's even a low fan option and a loud fan option, among others). It is rechargeable, but charged it only lasts a couple hours, and I need it to run through the entire night, so I keep mine plugged in (the charging cord is a typical USB). The speaker swivels upwards so you can have the speaker horizontal or swivel it up to stand vertical. I have bought 3 so far and highly recommend it.
I cannot believe so much volume comes out of such a tiny thing! Worked great - drowned out the El and the car alarms (I'm staying in Manhattan for a few days). I don't know how long the charge would have lasted - it was still going strong when I turned it off after 9 hours.

Description
This is awesome. I bought the regular sized one for my daughter last year, and I liked several of the sounds and the volume of it. I was a little concerned with the smaller size, but this works very well. I choose one of the more subtle tones, so the volume could be a little louder, but it definitely improves on a quiet room, if you're used to a box fan level sound. I haven't been able to get it to last all night long without being plugged in, though. The Bluetooth speaker was much better quality than I expected it to be. I played the sound of Netflix from my laptop and it was excellent volume and quality. Oh yeah... it also twists up to be able to aim the speaker at your fat head (see photo) while in bed, which actually increases the volume a bit more also. Attached photos of the paperwork.
This little white noise machine has changed my life! I used to use the SNOOZ machine when I went to hotels and that worked great, but I needed something smaller for backpacking in Peru. This little noise maker was perfect. Light weight and easy to set up wherever I camped. I’m a super sensitive sleeper and it blocked out the noise from my snoring husband, a neighborhood parade outside of my hostel, stray cats meowing and anything else that would have kept me up. There is NO loop from the recording. This was my biggest concern as I have had previous devices that looped and I woke up in the middle of the night every single time it looped. Honestly, get this machine if you travel a lot and have trouble sleeping. The price is great, the product is great, and it’s easy to charge and holds throughout the night. The only downside is the plastic case it comes in. This case doesn’t prevent the buttons from accidentally being pressed in transit and it sometimes pops open. I know they sell a special case for it. I’ll probabyl be buying that for future trips.
I had one of these for about a year before it started dying while it was plugged in (sound goes lower and lower until it is silent over about 10 minutes). I thought a year wasn't too bad for the product so I ordered one for me and another for my baby's room. One of them was bent in the space where you plug in the charger and can't be charged at all, and the other one, within a month, started dying while it was plugged in all night. Very disappointed and will be going back to the Marpac Dohm (which only died after years when it was used without a transformer in a foreign country).

Update: Great customer service, they sent me a new machine and I've had no problems with them so far. I had already purchased another Marpac Dohm, but I'm glad to have the Letrofan again because the sound is more adjustable and louder.
I've always sleep with a fan running at night and it's the only way I can sleep. When my fan finally died I decided it was time to look for something new. Plus it's winter and it's too cold to have a fan running.
I'll start with the cons:
1. My first one charged perfectly, used it for a couple nights, unplugged it so it wasn't constantly on the cheager and realized the port is completely out of alignment so it doesn't charge unless you physically hold it in. I was so bummed because o loved it. I contacted lectofan customer service who responded in less than 24 hours to fix the situation. While the product issues was a con their customer service to rectify the situation in under 1 week was exceptional.
Pro's:
1. So many options for sounds. Many are similar but trust me we are all used to a different fan sound and you will be able to find the exact one that works for you. I was shocked I found the perfect sound and had a great night's sleep. I've tried several sound machines and do not like the odd weather sounds and none others fan sound was quite rite.
2. This things is tiny! It will be perfect for traveling and won't take up any space in your bedroom (unlike the old fan).
3. It's LOUD! This thing gets crazy loud I don't know why anyone would turn it up all the way up because it gets so loud. I've not tried it as a Bluetooth for music but plan to on an upcoming vacation.
4. Settings to change volume and sound. This seems to be a cheif complaint but not sure why. One read over of the instructions and it's easy to figure out. Plus when you turn it off once you turn it on again it starts right up at the sound and volume you already had so it's not like you need to mess with them.
5. As I mentioned exceptional customer service.
Overall I'm so happy with this purchase. I finally found something that works and I don't have to have a fan running nor do I have to worry staying out of town and not having a fan sound. You will not be disappointed with this little guy!
I've only had this a couple if days but so far it works as advertised & reviewers have said. This thing is small but mighty. It's much more convenient than a fan. I haven't slept at night with it yet but I'm betting it won't be too long. I did use it yesterday when I was going to take a nap & my husband had the t.v. blaring in the other room. Once I found the sound I liked best it was great. I'm looking forward to lots of use with this little dynamo!
Update: I ended up using this when I had to move to the spare room for a break from my snoring husband. Rather than the fan I usually use I used this sound machine & it did the trick. I do not recall hearing my husband get up & letting the dog out etc.
3/9/19 update: I reduced the rating by 1 star because I have used this twice with the battery power only now & it does NOT last through the night. The first time it might have lasted 6 hrs, last night it lasted about 8.5 hours but in the product description it says up to 16 hours... I don't want to return this speaker because of that because I really like it. I will just leave it plugged in to use it through the night. I may look into finding another for travel or when the power goes out.
