It’s incredible how difficult finding a good car mount is. Amazon is chock full of crappy knock-off car mounts that last a month or two before finally breaking. So here I am, buying yet another car mount for the 3rd time this year, when I come across Hudly. It’s a bit more expensive than the typical $25 unit I buy, but I figured the wireless charging would be a nice feature to add to the car. It only took a few minutes to get it installed in the car (it comes with a windshield mount and an air vent mount). I was a little skeptical about my phone falling out, but the grip on this thing is incredible, you just pop in your phone and it holds on for dear life! The wireless charging works as expected as well, no issues there. It charges pretty quick. It’s nice to not have to grab my usb cable anymore which means I can mount it with one hand and have it charge. Overall build quality is pretty good: the plastics feel great and it has a good weight to it. I’ll check back in a few months with an update but so far I’m very happy with my Hudly! Highly recommended!
the only thing I dislike about this product is its powered by a "USB C" power cord made to plug into a cigarette lighter instead of a standard USB port...… meaning its OK for a car IF there is a cigarette lighter power port nearby...…
BUT for home or office (desktop) use or for a car that does NOT have a cigarette lighter port close by, or if the cigarette lighter port is powered up all the time will it run the car battery down if left plugged in? no idea how much or how little power it uses for motion detector that runs when powered up when the charge is not running. time will tell BUT it would be great if they would include a standard USB power cable AND a "power off" switch on the unit itself
If it had those features I'd buy more of these for locations away from car …….
I'm really excited about this car mount! I just got a new car and already tried a number of car mounts and hadn't loved any of the ones I had gotten -- they either required taping / gluing to my leather dash, was too flimsy and kept falling off when driving through bumps, required magnet which my phone was too heavy for, or the cords obstructed my driving. This one is great because it came with a variety of different ways to mount (so I tried all of them), and found the vent to feel very secure and within safe view. So far, I've driven with it for over a week and I love the auto-open arms (feels like it's giving my phone a hug the moment I get in my car), the rotating ball joint because I can change its position so easily based on where the light is reflecting, and feels super durable (has not fallen off my vent like my other mount!). After having gone through a number of car mounts, I'm happy I finally found one that's so technologically savvy, sleek and durable!
I have recently been putting the phone in front of the speedo when I am on conference calls but now with this mount I can put it where I won't have to take my eyes off the road.
I choose the electric version since I have seen my friend struggle with his manual one having to use two hands to open the clamp and line it up to put his phone in. The electric version just adds a bit of flair when I have passengers in the car.
I also planned for the future with the wireless charging. With the new Iphone Xs announced hopefully the prices of the Iphone X will go down and I can pick one up and have this mount act as the only car charger I need.
When I upgraded to an iPhone X I had to give up on a magnetic car mount that I had used for years before since I was using wireless charging. I bought a car mount that clipped on to the vent but over time, the clasp became loose and ended up breaking. So it was time for a new one. This mount is great. Not only did it come with an improved vent mount, but also a mount that sticks to the dash or the windshield. I've been using the dash mount and it is great. I love the robotic arms and the wireless charging.

Bought this for my wife’s car and I have to say it’s leagues ahead of the other mounts we’ve had. The dash mount is almost an articulating arm, giving you the ability to get the perfect angle for your phone screen. It charges like a champ and they even added a USB port to the head of the DC charger so you can daisy chain devices. The extra air vent mount is a nice option, not needed for my wife’s car but we will hand onto it in case we need to take this to another vehicle.
The automatic arms lend a huge wow factor for this product. Not having to fanagle with process of mounting the phone on every time is a big convenience. I wouldn't be surprised to find the same tech on something that cost $80, so this is a pretty good deal. I was able to fit this charger in multiple locations and angles to find a good placement. The charging worked well, too. I didn't experience any overcharging symptoms and my phone held its charge well after it was disconnected. Sometimes bad chargers lead to the phone discharging its first 20-50% really quickly - I didn't have this issue. This is definitely worth the money.
Pretty nifty device. It charges your phone wirelessly and it also mounts anywhere in the car. Seriously. Air vents, dashboards, steering wheels, windshields, side windows. It's very versatile and the quality seems solid so far. It makes this cool sound when the automatic arms grab the phone and hold it in place, too!
Overall, a winner in my books and I ordered a second one for a friend already.
Love this multi-functional car mount, addresses a lot of issues with other car mounts. On weekend car rides, usually I struggle with plugging in charging cords, and adjusting the phone when it slips, or having the phone located in an awkward spot to look at while driving, but the Hudly exceeded expectations addressing all of the issues. I highly recommend for those going on trips, or it comes so nicely packaged that it'll make a great gift!
I recieved the unit missing one piece. I emailed their support and exactly 20 minutes later I got a reply. They apologized and will ship a replacement part. Now that is excellent customer service! I also mounted via the vent holder and it works great. Holds my phone real firm even over bumpy roads. Also opens automatically no fuss and easy to remove. A very good value overall. You will not be disappointed.
