I just received my new range hood and have attached a picture from under the hood, as this is not on the web site!!
Fairly basic hood but exactly what I was looking for. Looks decent when installed. Most big box home improvement stores no longer carry much of a selection of basic range hoods. Most of their hoods are higher end, automatic fancy units. Unlike some of the reviewers, I thought the fan noise was completely acceptable however I agree that the cover for the light bulb was a bit cheezie. Some reviewers mentioned that the light cover "melted" from the heat the light bulb produced so I ended up using an LED bulb which runs much cooler than a normal incandescent bulb does. I would buy another one.
So my old venlline overhead range fan motor in my mobile home went out and I decided I’d replace the whole thing because get this . The old 1960 fan motor was 50.00! This whole brand new range was 50.00! Why replace just the motor in my old one and end up not being the motor or something else messing up on it shortly after . Why not just get a brand spanking new one for the same price of the old motor . Come on now . And I installed it myself!! I Honestly think installing this new unit was a lot easier than replacing that old fan motor would have been. This product saved me a ton of money . It’s way better than that old one too. Win win win ! You can’t loose with this thing . My vent size was a bit off but I just took some cardboard and cut it like a gasket to keep the vacuum right. Wiring was easy just make sure to flip the correct circuit breakers off. Only hard part about it was trying to start the screws and hold it up at the same time . Get someone to help you with that part.
we are regular people probably just like you out there are, not rich! but happy. i purchased this hood because the old one we had to twist the bulb on to use it. this is a nice hood, fan works on both settings has a good light, ahh no more twisting needed!! :). it`s fine as everything else is becoming sort of inferior compared to the past, that`s business!!!!!. what i will do to it is with white silicone caulking I'll run a bead on the inside joints just to better seal them. ours is vented outside and i was willing to just not hook that up and use the recirculated through filter in house. low and behold the vent is rectangle just like ours. it was kind of easy to set up after i used four of the winged mounts ( the ones that spring open inside the hole) very securely. it looks good and will clean easier than the old one due to a smooth (not pebbly) surface. i find amazon really amazing! easy to purchase and everything one needs at one location. how fortunate are we...
My parents have a really old Broan, non stainless, and they never cleaned it to the point where I was fed up with the look and dirtiness of it and decided to get them a new one. I didn't want to spend a lot of money for a replacement so I came across this one. Taking it out of the box it was very lightweight, which is good if your installing it alone like I did. It doesn't feel cheap or expensive...perfect for me. I had to mod the vent hole in the cabinets due to the vent location for the other one, but other than modding the cabine vent hole, it was a fairly easy install, probably more easy if I had someone or a 2x4 holding up the hood. Looks great and works great and I don't have to look at the old greasy looking non stainless one ever again. Installing it, expect to have scratches but try and limit it to the covered portion like the sides and the top, just FYI.

I wish there were more flexibility in where the wires come through on the back...of course, the wire connections were on the left, as you look at the unit from the back, and we needed them on the right...our wiring had NO give it to move it over. I ended up extending the hoods wires to the other side of the fan myself and drilling a hole through the metal on the back on the correct side to accommodate them.
I got this as a Christmas gift for my mother, it was very easy to install and came in great condition and she loves it. It works great and is able to be vented either from the back or the top depending on your preference.
The only complaint I have it the metal it quite thin and because of the while installing we accidentally put a couple small dents in it with the hammer. They are barely noticeable and not an issue but it does help to be aware of that while you are putting it up.
My white range hood looked awful with the new counter tops and pain in my kitchen. So, not knowing what I was doing, I ordered this one. It has a 10" duct where my old one was 6". My contractor was able to make it work, so kudos to him!!! It's beautiful and sucks smoke and odors out very well! (I had the "opportunity" to use it this week when my oven tried to burn my dinner by overheating my dinner to an extreme temperature! I'm glad I was home . . . could have had a fire if I'd been gone.)
Order arrived promptly and was packaged correctly. I ordered this product because it had the flapper included. Silly me. I hadn't take down the old unit first. This one has a rectangular vent connection, and my house has a round vent. This units cousin comes with a round vent, but I bypassed it because the flapper had to be purchased separately. The individual flapper purchased separately had rather poor reviews.
This was now beyond my installation capabilities. Brought in my handyman. He had tin snips, etc. and went to the box store to buy all the connectors we needed to make a rectangular tube fit a round hole. All of the pieces were still less than the $14 I'd have to pay Amazon to ship this one back. It turns out, the round to rectangular conversion wasn't the problem. This unit is built square, and the opening where I was trying to put this hood wasn't. It took 4 hands to hold the unit while we banged and shoved to get this unit into place. My house was built in 1985, so I wasn't expecting this much trouble to get this in place.
Once in place, it worked like a charm. It wants a 60 watt incandescent bulb which aren't sold any longer. There were no instructions if a florescent bulb could be used instead. That needs research.
Two days after installation, we had 35+ mph winds. The flapper didn't make a sound. The old flapper banged around horribly.
In summary, before you buy, know if your round or rectangular, and keep a extra pair of hands around when installing. Bending backward over a stove with your hands above your head is hardly a single person job.
We already had a Broan range hood when we purchased this one. Our first range hood is still working perfectly. It needed replacing because it began to bubble under the paint. It is 18 years old. Concerned that the paint might chip, we decided to replace it. Installing the new range hood was very easy to figure out. The only uncomfortable part was working overhead to attach it. It took about 20 minutes to accomplish and we hope to be good for another 18 years.
