I received my EcoWash from Air and Water a couple of weeks ago. It arrived in very quickly and was packaged well (see picture). After trying it out a couple of times, I think it is very useful under certain circumstances. I believe it is useful for RV’ers, hand washables/dry clean items, and even for households without a washer that don’t want to spend their life at the Laundromat.

The day after I received it, I returned from a 4 day RV trip. We take at least one trip a month and sometimes they last several days. Cleaning laundry, even at RV parks with full washer and dryer is a hassle. I set it up pretty quickly, after reading the instructions. I did my first load with items from my trip: 2 pairs of pants, 3 shirts, all my underwear and a stained by cleaning up tomato juice wash cloth (see pictures). I didn’t expect the EcoWash to clean this washcloth very well as even my regular washer couldn’t do it very well with out bleach.

I added he detergent, which was all I had at home. The directions say to add a certain amount of teaspoons of detergent depending upon how much the load weighs. I weighed my load and it weighed about 5 pounds. Then I filled the container with warm water. I sealed the container and cranked it 100 times. It’s easy to crank, and well balanced. I then drained the dirty water into my sink. I refilled with cold water to rinse the clothes and cranked it 50 times. The whole process took 5 minutes. After hang drying the clothes, I found they came out surprising clean. The stained washcloth had visibly reduced the stain, but still needed further cleaning. The other clothes were great. My socks were cleaner, but still had some bottom residual on them.

Upon reflection, I decided to do the following the next time. Use regular detergent. Stop turning after 50 in the wash cycle and let soak, and then turn the rest of the 50. I will do the same with the rinse cycle.

A few days later, I washed a couple of lightly stained ties and a sweater, which I would normally clean at the cleaners. I used Woolite and implemented the above reflections. They came out great. After hang drying, they were as good as the dry cleaner would do. I saved money there.

In summary, with a few reservations, the EcoWash does a good job for the things I tested it on. Not as good as a home washer, good as a dry cleaner, but plenty good for certain circumstances.

I just got this and did a few loads in it. It works really well! It takes up to 2 minutes of time to wash, then an optional (but recommended) rinse cycle. The hand crank is very very very easy to turn. Assembly was easy. It's light weight. The suction cups at the bottom of the machine mean business- if you set this down in a tub or on a tiled surface you'll need to put some effort into getting it back up. It holds a lot more clothing than I thought it would.

This is a neat little compact totally manual washer, it does a great job on getting clothes clean especially if you do a bit of a presoak in warm water then refill add detergent and do main washing action. Sturdy, and efficient and i have NOT made a trip to the laundromat since it was delivered. It has already PAID for itself in time savings, cost and product use. I wash personal laundry, t shirts, jeans, towels, wash cloths, twin sized sheets and pillowcases.. BIG stuff i will have to take to the laundromat but for everyday clothes (one person) it is perfect for me.

I live in Puerto Rico, which was recently hit by severe hurricanes Irma, then followed up with Maria. Since it was expected for us to be around 3 months without electricity (spoiler alert: it's been more than 3 already), I bought 2 of these, one for myself and another for my grandmother.

It is really easy to assemble and even easier to wash your dirty clothes with. The lid has a strong seal, with no apparent signs of leakage, even when hot water is used. My grandama is around 65(won't tell her real age), and she doesn't find it a chore to clean her clothes. On the contrary, she recently mentioned how she really enjoys it.

She grew up washing clothes by hand, and she mentioned that the level of cleaning this little hand cranked machine does is really comparable to that of hand washing.

My little precious was shipped and arrived very quickly considering Florida was still in shock mode from hurricane Irma. Everything came properly packed and secure. The instructions were a little hard to understand but that's from my bad eyesight; so I looked it up on YouTube and putting it together was quick and easy. The washing was so simple and took less time and water too; best part wasn't using up any electricity. I use soap nuts and in my old machine getting those bad boys to sudz up was hard; but with this I knew it was washing alright. I thought it wouldn't be able to hold a lot from how small it looked in the pic, but it holds a good bit. As a starter, put your clothes first and then the water to see how it holds. It took a few tries to get it right but I was able to drain without getting water everywhere. After washing 6 successful loads I can now say I am a professional and hopefully this will shape up my arms nicely. My family was watching me like some weirdo when I was using it, the next day when they had to wash, there was a power outage and then they were asking to use it. SMH. Anyway I am glad I bought this and would 100% recommend this to anyone.

This is definitely getting a workout. I love the ease of it. My trick is to do very mini loads. Easy to crank and less time messing around with heavy loads. Clothes come out clean and I love the cost of laundry .... basically FREE. In my apartment building you never know who or what has passed (literally) in the washers/dryers before you ... so this is a great option. Better than the dual things or combo washer/spinner machines. Got one of those and TOO BIG, TOO NOISY. THIS I can wash 24/7 and bother NOBODY. I'm 70 and if I can crank it, anyone can.

I love this little washer! So easy to put together and use. It fits in my bathtub so it's convenient and I feel like I save water and soap when using it. Took it camping with me and now I'll never go camping without it. Makes coming home nicer because there isn't as much dirty laundry to do!! My boys go dirt bike riding so it's great to be able to wash their dusty dirty clothes each night. I especially love it for my delicate bras and lingerie and nylons! No more tangled pantyhose!! :) And did I mention how quick it is to use. I actually enjoyed spinning the thing and my boys were able to help too!! It's just a great little machine. I really wish i had it when I was living in the college dorm. Would have saved me lots of money!

Living post Maria in PR is a challenge. Having clean clothes is not one of my struggles, I am grateful for this. For whites it is best to heat the water up (not boil). It is easy and can easily wash 9 shirts in a load or 2 pairs of jeans with a couple of shirts I am a size 16 for gauge.
Con: it does not have capability to spin/wring water out. If my son doesn't send me a hand wringer from the states soon I will most likely purchase a model with a spin function.

I really wanted to post an honest review for our use because I didn’t see many that were similar. Our washer broke about 2-3 weeks ago. I mean broke as I’m burning smell. Personally I’m always trying to go green in as many practical ways as possible. We are a family of 5 with one in cloth diapers. A week of hand washing in the tub and I was over that. So we purchased the eco wash portable washer. Design wise it’s good. I would have preferred a more sturdy base and the drain spout to be pointing down. Those are the only reasons I give it a 4. As for use, it’s great. I don’t follow the water guidelines though because the clothes generally absorb all of that and there’s nothing left to agitate with. So I just pour until I can see the water on the side when I tip it. If you’re wondering what 5lbs of laundry looks like, for us, it’s about half a laundry basket filled to the top and not over flowing. You want to leave room for the clothes to move otherwise they won’t agitate and won’t get clean. I do not wash towels in this though because they absorb so much water and are difficult to get clean. For regular wash I put soap In first and then use my sprayer from the sink to add water and get the suds going. Then I add clothes and more water. I do 100 rotations each way. Then I drain, add water and do 50 rotations each way and drain again. I ring my clothes dry and put them in a basket with a towels to absorb more moisture. If it’s a sunny day out I’ll hang them out back to dry. Otherwise the dryer still works. I do two loads in this to make one load for the dryer. Diapers are a different story. I’m still on a trial and error with these. But I think we’ve got a good routine and haven’t had rash issues or stains. He’s on solids so we spray the poo. I wash about every three days. I can fit about 10 diapers in here and that’s prefolds and AIOs. To do diapers I put them in with a little detergent and some warm water. I do 50 rotations each way and then let them soak for about 20-30 minutes. If I have any stains or stink I add oxyclean. After soaking I drain and add more detergent and hot water. I do 100 rotations each way and let them sit for another 10 minutes, drain, add more water, 50 rotations each way, and drain. Problem with diapers is that at this point you’ll need to ring them out by hand because they are still holding in pee water. So I ring them out, put them back in and do another rinse. Again if it’s nice out they get some sun. So there ya go!

ok so I had my doubts about this tub, but my washer died and I didn't have the money to get a new one. I am a single semi-retired woman and only did 1 small load a week,so what the heck I'll give it a try. Great choice! It comes in several pieces but I had it put together in a couple minutes. I keep it in the bathroom and just toss clothes in as needed. When I'm ready to use it I put it in the bathtub, and separate clothes if needed. I can easily put in several shirts a pair of lightweight pants, socks and undies.I use the shower hose to fill it up add a little detergent and put on the lid (make sure to tighten the knob on top) give it 30 easy spins then change directions and give it 30 hard spins and repeat the process a time or two. If it feels like it is just thumping back and forth ,open the top and add more water then spin. The discharge tube is a little difficult but you will get the hang of it! Make sure to open the top. I am always amazed at the dirty water that comes out! when the draining slows down I remove the tube and flip the tub over and empty the rest of the water as i am taking the clothes out and wringing them. To rinse just put the clothes back in add water spin and and drain again. I'm not crazy about wringing them out, but I use a metal colander and some fist action. If you have a dryer toss them in but I usually just hang them to dry.If I have a really dirty pair of jeans after working in the yard I will put them in the tub with water and detergent give it a few spins and let it presoak till morning then spin away. The whole process only takes about 5-6 minutes and clothes come out as clean as they would in a washing machine. I don't think I would recommend this for a large family (unless you want to do several loads a day) but for one or two people it is great!
