Vita Coco Organic Coconut Water, Pure - Naturally Hydrating Electrolyte Drink - Smart Alternative to Coffee, Soda, and Sports Drinks - Gluten Free - 11.1 Fluid Ounce (Pack of 12)

Vita Coco Coconut Water is fantastic, not just as a beverage for refreshment. It was recommended by our nurse practitioner when I got weak from exercise in warm weather some time ago. The benefits were instant and amazing. Now, we use it any time of year. My job is physically demanding, and work both outside and indoors. When I begin to feel worn out and achy due to multiple physical conditions, I find that a portion of this coconut water can really revive me. If you've ever had a headache from dehydration, you know how uncomfortable your entire body can feel. We consider coconut water virtually a magic potion, and I'm happy to recommend it to anyone!

Absolutely love that this is exactly like when I was in Aruba and they would pick the coconuts, slice them in front of you and give you a straw. Some may prefer it chilled. I like it either way, since I was introduced to it in it's pure form and natures tradewinds as it's only coolant. Wonderful, can't wait to order more. Wish they were larger, going to see if they have that. If you are a "coconut nut" like me, you'll LOVE this!

I remember the fresh coconut water in India and this brand doesn't even come close to tasting like it. Maybe the coconut water in other tropical countries tastes like this, which is not bad. The trouble is that coconut water starts fermenting as soon as the coconut is sliced open. This paper package is better than plastic for preserving the flavor (go figure!). I use the 11oz over a day or two and the 16oz over 2-3 days. After that it begins to ferment at an accelerated pace and tastes like toddy, which is naturally fermented palm or coconut sap water drip. The other brand that comes in a plastic container begins to ferment after 24 hours, which is counter-intuitive. I try not to drink too much of it because my Costa Rican maid tells me that if you overdo it, it reduces blood pressure, perhaps because of the high potassium.

Much to my surprise, this coconut water really does taste like sipping the real thing from a straw, as the package says. It's light but has good body and a natural, clean taste, with no aftertaste like some of these artificial drinks, I'll be using this a lot for an alternative to other hydrating liquids, and the price was excellent so I hope it wasn't just the promo price, and will stay the same so I can buy some more when this runs out. I'm so glad I found this, since I won't be traveling to the tropics any time soon. I may not be able to evaluate its actual health effects, but if I notice any startling improvements I'll definitely update this review.

I've always loved coconut water. I use it as a replacement for sports drinks, and as a quick pick me up and hydration source in the morning. I get horrible headaches when I start getting dehydrated and I find coconut water alleviates the symptoms of dehydration and my headache much faster than water and without the risk of low electrolytes.

I see some people have some expericnes with some bad boxes, I have experienced that with many brands of coconut water (maybe the Tetra packs?) It should be clear with perhaps a cloudy appearance (a little like squeesed lemonade). I've been able to identify a bad box by smell so I really don't worry about it just give it a sniff first.

Description

Not so long ago, you had to use a machete if you wanted a sip of pure coconut water. We’ve taken the machete out of the equation, which is good, because those things are dangerous. Now all that’s left is Mother Nature’s most hydrating, refreshing, vitamin- and mineral-rich nectar. Vita Coco is never made from concentrate. That means we pick, crack, and pack fresh young coconuts directly at the source. After the coconuts are cleaned, the delicate water inside is flash pasteurized (and occasionally mixed with all-natural fruit puree) then poured into a shelf-stable Tetra Pak. The entire process from tree to Pak doesn't exceed 72 hours. We hear the end result is a lot like sticking a straw in a coconut.

I have been drinking Naked Natural Coconut Water for some time until Amazon ran into some sort of trouble with their inventory of the product and stop selling it. I waited and waited but the problem persisted unresolved for weeks. Then I tried to buy it from a supermarket or grocery store and it is very hard to find, only a few places carry Naked where I live/work.

So I decided to stop waiting and give a try to the competition and that's it, I'm not buying Naked anymore and staying with Vita Coco. I agree with some of the comments saying Vita doesn't taste as close to Coconut water as it should, and I agree with them: This is an improvement over real coconut water, it taste better; if you read my review of Naked, you will understand. I'm not a Coconut Water Tasting Expert if such thing exists, but I grew up drinking coconut water straight from the coconut, and the only thing I didn't like was that bitter/salty after taste, which Vita removed almost completely. This makes it a bit sweeter and in my opinion it is a good thing

Vita's packaging is also easier to drink from, the plastic neck really help to drink it right from the container if you want, no need for straws or having to pour it into a glass. It also carries a better price, they are more honest about what at the end is just coconut water, something readily available in nature, just nicely packaged and more convenient

Love this coconut water! When I buy it in the store the expiration date has been running around December 2018 but amazon shipped me a case with a expiration date of August 15, 2018. I’ll probably finish mine before then but what’s up with that?

I don't drink coconut water "straight", so taste isn't a major factor in my buying decision.

Instead, I use coconut water as one of the ingredients in my breakfast smoothie. (The other liquid ingredients are orange juice and soy milk.) The amount of coconut water per smoothie is 1/2 cup.

I've used Vita Coco for over a year, and the quality has been consistent. On one occasion, I received a damaged box and one of the bottles inside had a broken seal. But I've never gotten sealed product that turned out to be spoiled.

Vita Coco doesn't have a "use within x days of opening" advisory on its label. This might be because the manufacturer adds citric acid. (Listed as "Vitamin C" on the ingredient list). In my experience, Vita Coco lasts 4-5 days after opening without any noticeable degradation.

Besides citric acid, the manufacturer adds "1% fruit sugar". (There are flavored versions of Vita Coco that contain other ingredients as well.) Different brands and flavors have varying amounts of sugar.

Like most other coconut water products, Vita Coco comes in (biodegradable?) cartons with twist-on caps. These box-like cartons topped with small plastic spouts aren't designed for smooth pouring. There's one brand (Zico?) that comes in plastic bottles instead. These make for better pouring.

My primary reason for sticking with Vita Coco has been the consistent quality. That makes it a pretty good value for the price. Also, I think it tastes pretty good for a shelf-stable coconut water product. And the flavored versions offer especially broad appeal for kids and coconut water newbies.

I give this product 4.5 stars. (But I'll round up to 5, since I'm not expecting it to taste like fresh coconut water.)

Hydration alternatives: fresh coconut water, maple water, sports drinks, pediatric electrolyte drink, electrolyte-enhanced water, filtered H2O (Brita).

Delivered fine. Same as grocery store sells. Its a small case of 12 small containers, very easy to store, cool, carry and consume. This brand isn't the most flavorful of the many coconut waters I've tried, but I mix in a little bit of mango juice, so it's fine. Low on calories, and sugar, which are important to this buyer. WAY BETTER than orange juice which is acidic and mostly sugar. Good replacement for those looking for a mild beverage to replace other sugary, high caloric drinks.

I wish all products were as straightforward as Vita Coco. From the fun, minimally plastic packaging which makes me feel like less of a monster than I already do (USA), to the consistent refreshing nectar that lies within, I could not be more pleased to have these in my fridge when coming off the gross end of a bender. I do not care for Coconut water/drinks that add sugar and I couldn't be more pleased that the inclusion of this pack on Amazon saves me the shame of going to a 7-11 and paying more for a recovery drink while being judged by the person behind the counter (rightfully so, I might add). So while VC may be enabling my horrible lifestyle choices, I take respite in the moment when I reach in for one of these little bricks of oasis and imagine what life would be like on a tropical island with a Skipper, maybe a couple of millionaires and the rest.
