This is the second time we have purchased this same kit and in both cases we had a blast. How we used the kit: We washed the new 100% cotton shirts and left them damp while we folded and rubber banded each. Then we mixed the dye and applied. We placed each shirt in its own gallon sized Ziploc bag and set it out first in the sun until dark and then inside in the laundry room still in the baggies. The next morning we rinsed each banded shirt until the water ran clear, before soaking the shirts in a large bucket with several cups of white vinegar added to cold water. 30 minutes after the vinegar soak I washed the shirts in the machine on delicate with color safe detergent and they came out beautifully! We added no soda ash or other steps. I highly recommend this product! Attaching a photo collage of our shirts and tanks which were made using 2 separate kits on 2 different occasions. :)
I ordered 2 kits because some of the reviews said there was not enough and some said more than enough so I thought "better safe than sorry" but ONE kit would have been plenty! We used it during a surprise party for my 14 year old daughter with 16 girls. We had enough dye left over to do at least another 16 t-shirts (they were Boys Large plain white t-shirts). Easy directions, pattern instructions/ideas, and so much fun! I bought shoe storage bins at the Dollar store for them to dye their shirts in and then sent each girl home with their freshly dyed t-shirt in the shoe bin so they wouldn't get dye in their parent's cars. Everyone had a blast and they all wore their shirts to school on her actual birthday that following Friday.
AWESOME classroom kit for my middle school students. It includes EVERYTHING you need. We have enough to do another day of shirts (first time we made about 10 shirts!)
This kit is great and comes with everything you need to tie dye other than the shirts! I dyed 12 large-2x t-shirts and a 2x hoodie with this and did not skimp out on the die on any shirt! Quick tip: if the shirts have just been run through the washer without any smells or softener, just detergent and are still damp when dyed I find the dye spreads nicer. Just a personal preference tho!
I added photos of my favorites!
We had 8 kids who did 1 tshirt each and 1 bandana each. This was enough dye for their projects, including several who decided to color the entire bandana like a rainbow flag instead of scrunching them up like tie-dyes. Could have used more gloves--I had to buy more since there were only a few pairs. With 4 adults helping 8 kids (10 yr olds), we needed at least 12 pairs and I think there were only 6-8. And the gloves were huge, even for the adults, so I'd recommend buying a pack of regular rubber gloves--they fit so much better. Other than that, the kit was perfect for the party and was the perfect size for our creations. Just add water and shake.

Bought this for an activity for my daughters 10th birthday!! OMG!!! You would have thought (enter your favorite celebrity here) showed up!! The kids loved it! It was easy to do for the kids....but make sure YOU COVER EVERYTHING YOU DON'T WANT TIE-DYED!! after the party I my hands looked like muck...used a little bleach spray on my hands...all gone! We did 12 adult large t-shirts and 1 onesie for my son. Still had some left over! There are a ton on gloves and bands and the instructions were super simple...although I you tubed it before doing it. Great product!!
Delivered quickly and product is as it says.. Thank you!
We had about 6 kids over for a party plus parents. I ordered one bc of reviews that said one is enough. When I got it the bottles were so small so I got another. We used one full out plus 4 bottles from the 2nd with the popular colors. This is my first time doing this. But I attached a photo to show two different results after rinse and wash. On the first photo on the top is a vibrant one, on the bottom is a ok one but a little faded, it looked so good before washing it. Most of mine faded after wash and I followed instructions. I let both stew in the bag for 17 hours. So here are my tips, if you want vibrant and contrast in the result, you must tie the bands tight AND be very generous with the dye. It is easy to use half a bottle on one tee shirt. So each bin comes with two bottles of each color (or at least the popular colors). So if you get one and you are worried it won't last for all the projects you want to do, you will not saturate the shirt enough because you want everyone to have enough dye. So I would advise get another box just in case. And then make sure you are using the tightness of the band to prevent the dye from dying the fabric and then generously apply the dye so that it really gets into the fabric. If you don't put enough and the bands aren't tight enough then it will fade during the rinse and wash. But I haven't tested my theory. In the future if I really want vibrant I would probably do it without the party so I can focus on mine being really good and vibrant. I even dyed a few for myself before the party but I was concerned about using up too much dye so they first looked amazing but when I rinsed and washed and dried they faded a lot and the white spots got a smidge bluish. The other two photos you can see the range of results I got.
I basically set this out for a party, mixed up the dyes with water and let guests figure it out. Most people had never tie-dyed before and just used the dry technique (where you put the dye on a dry garment). Everyone's turned out great! Some better than others of course, but that's technique. The colors were vibrant and there were plenty to go around. Ended up with a ton of extra. We dyed about 30 baby onesies and 15 scarves.
daughter has made several articles of clothing and they love doing it and she's a teen. She's made pillowcases, socks, shirts.
Great set. Easy to use. Tips; be sure to wear gloves and we found outside the best area to do this due to if you spill or dribble. wear gloves when you're doing the initial rinse as well afterward. The colors stayed bright. Be sure to use cotton material, we found microfibers, blends do not hold the colors near as well.
