Nomadclip Lightning To USB Carabiner Clip for Apple Devices

Nomadclip Lightning To USB Carabiner Clip for Apple Devices

I had a knockoff of the original Nomad USB keychain charger, but it died, and in reading the reviews of the Nomad, this seems to be a problem with any charger you keep on your keyring that has the gold contacts for either the Lightning (iPhone) or USB connector exposed. There's all sorts of things in my pocket, from keys to dog treats to plastic bags, and when the keys are in the ignition of my cars they get knocked around a lot, so it's no surprise that a solution with exposed connectors failed after a bit of time.

So when I saw this available, I thought - Yes! this is going to be the solution for me, but in ordering it I found I had to wait a couple of weeks for shipping so I found an alternative option which isn't a carabiner, but does have a bottle opener built in and truthfully, I like that one much better, for one reason only - it is much smaller than the Nomadclip, which is quite enourmous - too big to fit comfortably in my pocket and because it's a carabiner, sometimes the keys get accidentally detached from the clip.

So now, the Nomadclip lives on a loop on my work bag, which is just fine, and it's easier than schlepping out my whole keyring, putting it on a desk or table in between my phone and computer.

My only suggestions to Nomad are: make it narrower and provide a locking mechanism for the Carabiner clip - that would rate a five star review, but given that I had to find an alternate role for this quite expensive charger, I feel compelled to take away a star for these design misses.

Pros:

• Amazingly sturdy and well-crafted carabiner with solid metal core
• Easy open clip (sometimes too easy, see below)
• Protected connectors much less likely to fail

Cons:

• Expensive
• Too big for most pockets
• Carabiner sometimes opens and keys slide off in your pocket
• Charging cord is actually shorter than alternative option that has a smaller profile

The Nomad and the AmaziPro8 iPhone Charge Sync Cable + Bottle Opener next to each other. See which one is on my keys....the Nomad is just too big, so it's going on my work bag.

It's a nice accessory. My biggest complaint is the size. I knew it would be big, but I find that it's really pretty huge. I understand the reasons why, but the circumference is making it difficult to find a good fitting strap to hang any keys or other items from. So while I give this 5 stars, be aware that it has it's limitations - mainly that you have limited distance from USB port to device. You have to have your USB port near a desk or table , or be prepared to get clever with some way to prop it up (e.g. if you want to use a USB wall charger that isn't close to any furniture.)
Clip is strong, and feels like it should hold with no worries.

Exactly what I wanted. Always losing these darn charges wanted one I could literally clip to the outside of my bag and know that I always have one. It wouldn't be my choice as my only one. I have had trouble gettting the ends out and worry eventually the thin cable might break. But it has already saved me twice it is unobstrusive and it works. What more can you ask.

Got this handy little gadget as an early Father's Day gift for my husband. He was thrilled when he opened the box to discover what he thought was just a fancy carabiner clip for his stainless steel water bottle -- with rubberized corners, so as not to scratch things up. To his surprise, I showed him how the end caps pull out to transform into a rock solid charging device for his iPhone. Not only is it rugged and steel reinforced, but it has a wide and durable connection to the lightning and usb, which will ensure a fray-free future (many of his regular charging cables have had to be trashed due to flimsy wiring). No more searching through piles of wire and drawers for cables, as it's permanently hooked to him or his gear bag. If you're on the fence, like we were about the price...don't be. The quality is top notch & completely worth it.

Love it!! I am not sure I understand the reviews regarding size??? It is not meant to be carried in your pocket. If that is what you want, order the keychain style. This is meant to hook on a backpack (as I do), jacket or computer case. You can feel the High quality construction. Very happy with my purchase. Thank you!!

Description

NomadClip is a smartphone cable that is the size and shape of a carabiner. It works like your normal cable for charging and syncing your phone - plug one end into a USB port and the other end into your mobile device.

It's so convenient to just clip on to your backpack and if you forget your charger you always have this as a spare. I'd recommend this to anyone whose always in a rush.

Yay! My Nomadclip just came, I immediately plugged one end into my iPhone 6 Plus and the other into my computer at work! What a great and easy way to carry around a phone charger!! I think I'm going to order more as extra gifts for my family for Christmas!!!

This is a great Carabiner and charger for my iPhone. I take it to school and it attaches nicely to my backpacks side loop. It also features a small hole for keys. They should have no problem fitting onto the hole as long as you have a key ring.

Bought this item along with two other gifts for my bro who is a software engineer/gaming aficionado. He was most thrilled with this product.

Great gift for not a lot of money. Cool find.

Great thing to have on me when I don't plan to.
