I live in Sacramento, California area, where we get several weeks of 105+ out here. In the last couple of years I've taken up running, so I'm out in daylight, darkness and different types of weather.

Today I went out for a 5-mile run by the river and took this little guy with me.

+ I expected to feel "hotter" with more material touching my person, but when you wet this thing and put it on, it really is cooler!

+ It was getting dry about 2.5miles on my run in the sun, so I had access on our trail to a water fountain, wet it, snapped it a couple of times (as instructed) and then put it back on. Instant coolness on the neck!

+ I've tried other "cool towels", which many dry into a hard material that only gets flexible with every re-wetting. Unlike those other brands, this one remains a nice, spandex, stretchy type of material that is soft whether wet or dry.

+ I'm a frugal guy and hate spending money on anything that isn't hobby related (board games with the family is the current addiction), but for less than $20 and in the potential heat we have here, this is a must have !!

Now I didn't have water in my water bottle when I went for my run, but water with electrolytes, so I didn't want to use that to re-wet this buff. Depending on where you are going you may want to consider bringing a small amount of water for re-wetting during your outdoor (or indoor) activity. I'm simply saying, plan ahead a bit.

This is basically a stretchy buff that seems nicely sewed together. I've included an image of ways a person could wear a buff like this, if you didn't want to only do around your neck. Though cooling the neck is one of the best ways to keep your body heat down, so use the information or don't.

I've recently got a job where I unload freight in a hot parking lot for the first 4+ hours of the day, and with Summer being as intensely hot as it is now, this has been a very welcome option for keeping just a bit cooler.

I wish it was a little bit longer -- I have another one that's about twice the length so it bunches up and holds more moisture but can also be worn in more configurations. However, this one wins out because it's antimicrobial so it doesn't smell ALL THE TIME as my other one does. I wash this when I do my laundry, whereas the other one I have to wash by hand with lots of soap and very hot water, rinsing it many times, or it smells like a dirty locker room even if I only use it for an hour. The Mission cooling neck towel has supplanted that one, which I keep "just in case".

The only other issue is that this needs to be recharged with cool water every couple hours unless it isn't very hot where you live. A PVA towel will stay cool/wet longer, but this will stay put if you're moving a lot and being very active. So it's a trade off.

Over many years of riding, my neck has gotten sun damaged even wearing sunblock all the time. I use this and sunblock to completely stop the sun beating down on the back of my neck. Wish I used it earlier.

Works ok, gets pretty warm actually unless you keep it a bit wet but that is to be expected. Only odd thing, it is supposed to keep you cool in the sun but only comes in dark colors! Hey mission, make a white one!

I sweat a lot when riding my bike or hiking and it gets really hot here in the summer. This headband is perfect and really does keep my body temp down! I have even been wearing it this fall, without wetting it of course, because I still sweat a bit even when it’s cool outside, and it keeps the sweat off of my face and back of my neck. I wear it every time I bike ride or hike!

Worn as a headband, this is one of the best sweat management products for indoor cycling (ie Zwift etc.) I've tried so far. Jury is still out on the cooling effect, and it does get pretty well saturated during ride, but I've noticed after a 60-90 minute session there is much less sweat on my trainer mat or on my sorta expensive bike. Looks pretty good too -charcoal space color.
I also bought, Mission's HydroActive Premium Techknit Large Cooling Towel - that is also a good indoor cycling accessory for helping to control "flyaway" sweat and mopping off, when things heat up.

Description

Half the size, just as cool! Half the size of our original Multi-Cool, the HydroActive Fitness Multi-Cool is engineered for a sleek and secure lockdown fit. Designed to be functional and versatile, the Fitness Multi-Cool can be worn in a variety of different ways to help you keep cool and protect you from the sun's harmful rays. The soft and absorbent fabric also defends against dust, debris and wind. Wear it as a neck gaiter, headband, face mask, hood, cap and more. And because the lightweight Fitness Multi-Cool transforms so quickly, you can change it up on-the-fly during workouts and training. The Mission Cooling products were originally engineered for elite athletes to help them keep cool during high-intensity training or competition. By helping to maintain an optimal core body temperature, it allows the athlete to redirect their energy towards maximizing performance. When activated, the soft, durable fabric cools down to 30 degrees below your average body temperature and provides a cooling effect for up to 2 hours. Just wet, wring and snap to activate the towel's proprietary cooling technology. Re-wet and re-snap when the cooling effect wears off as often as necessary to stay cool as long as you need. The proprietary cooling technology works by absorbing moisture and perspiration into the fabric core where the unique radiator-like fiber construction circulates water molecules and regulates the rate of evaporation to create a prolonged cooling effect.

This an invaluable tool for any camping and hiking. In the cold it keeps you warmer. In the sun it keep you from getting burnt. In the summer it keeps you cooler baby simply wetting it. It folds down very small and is easy to pack. Drys quick when washing in any sink, lake or stream. A must have!

Sizing is weird / unreliable. Bought the space grey one and the space grey is definitely a bit bigger (which I liked, and led to me buying this 2nd one). I know different dyes can cause different sizing, though I'd hope they'd adjust for that.

These are among the best things invented for a cyclist! They protect your neck regardless of the temperature - hot or cold. These absorb sweat and keep you at the "right" temperature. At least that is my experience.
