Wanted a hood range with a European “look”to it to go with my new Samsung stove. After doing a lot of research I kept coming back to the cosmo. The price didn’t break my bank account and was exactly what I pictured for my kitchen. My husband is a professional handyman and skilled at installing appliances; I did have to assist him as it required more than one set of hands to install. We replaced a 33 year old hood range that was put in when our house was built; it was wired in, ... the cosmo hood range came with a standard plug in which required him to adapt the built in wire ends (in our house) and attach a standard house 2 plug socket. If you are not skilled at this sort of thing, you need to hire a professional. After we got it installed, it looked gorgeous and exceeded my expectations. Attached are pictures.
Great range hood for the money! Design and functionality are great. Lighting and fan work as described. Looks great with all stainless appliances. Hood is tapered from back to front and looks like the front is slightly pointing up after installation. This would have been a 5 star review except for installation. It is pre-drilled with 4 holes in the top and 2 in the back. If you're the lucky type, you may not have to alter you're install. I had to drill holes to match my setting. Not a problem, just a delay. IMPORTANT: This unit comes with a standard 3 prong plug. If the unit you're replacing is hard wired, you will have to install a common 15A outlet. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase.
Very nice unit. It moves more air than other models I looked at. The underside is enclosed so you can't see up inside of it. It came with a non removable cord and my old unit was hard wired so I had to put an electrical outlet in the cabinet above (very inconvenient). The lights are in the very back and not really over the main cooking area. It looks good and is a huge improvement over the broken one it replaced. lastly the instructions said to mount it 25 inches above the stove. I put it where the old one was at 19 inches.
Looks great and installation was not that difficult. It matched our existing GE stainless appliances perfectly. I love the lighting that it provides to our range top and it is quieter than our previous microwave/fan. Has three fan speeds. I did an under cabinet installation using duct out the top. The only weird thing was that the duct outlet from the fan is 4.5" diameter and I could not find duct piping in that size at our local hardware store. I ended up buying some 4" semi flexible dryer vent pipe which adapted close enough to the fan outlet duct as well as my 4" to 6" converter pipe (existing duct in my cabinet was 6"). Used metal tape to seal the joints.
We finally got the opportunity to replace our stove and vent hood after our recent kitchen remodel and we chose the Cosmo 30 in 200 CFM under cabinet vent hood. This hood met all of our checkpoints for a new vented hood! It was inexpensive, it had 3 fan speeds, was quiet, had 2 light bulbs for superior stovetop lighting, and was available in stainless steel. It got installed last night and we LOVE it!! I have to say...the new stove and vent hood look downright SEXY!!!! I highly recommend choosing this model when you upgrade your kitchen!

This hood has nice features. I lov the LED light and the number of fan speed choices. It would have been easily done to provide an option for rectangle in addition to the circular. My duct to the outside is rectangular and we had to make some modifications to duct in the wall.
I was dismayed to notice after we finished the installation that there was a small dent right in the front center. I recommend you look over the casing carefully before getting it installed.
Easy to install. Light weight but strong. Well made with quality materials. I like the rounded front edge and the full width aluminum screens. Not looking forward to replacing these screens very often so we will wash them often. The opening in the top is 4.5 inches which is an irregular size. I was able to buy adapters at hardware store to make it fit my 6 inch conduit going to the roof.
One problem was that the back set of predrilled screw holes were blocked by the back lower flange so that it was a real challenge to get the screwdriver on the screw head. It the flange was 3/4" further back it would have been no problem, or if the predrilled hole was 3/4 inch further forward. One suggestion to Cosmo is to use a recyclable packing material rather than styrofoam. We can do better and still protect the product.
I installed this in my kitchen for our major remodel. It looks good and works. It's medium loud, has three fan speeds, and comes with LED bulbs. This model is to be ducted out of the house, which is more work but very much preferred to just a carcoal filter system.
My two complaints would be the bulbs that come in it are not very bright (I'm going to buy some brighter ones) and it is about 1/2 inch short of 36 inches. So I filled the quarter inch gap on each side with some trim from the cabinet company.
I did quite a bit of research and searching for a range hood to replace the old. One of the key elements that attracted me to this one was the 5" outlet that matched the 5" outlet currently going through the roof. The flexible 5" duct was raised up a couple of inches from the old hood and then lowered back down on the new one. Basically that part of the installation was plug and play.
The old one was hard-wired so it made the installation a little more challenging. A 1 1/4" hole was drilled in the wall behind the hood so the plug could be run through it. Two others needed to be drilled in the cabinet above the range to facilitate routing the cord to the new plug-in. Once again a hole was drilled through the wall so the romex could be routed up to the cabinet and a plug-in installed. I will fill in around the cords and when the cabinet doors are closed it came out as a pretty clean and nice looking installation. The brushed finish of the range hood matches the faucets and other items in the kitchen. The most important thing was the points it scored for me with my wife of 52 years.
Very good item for the money, compared to everything else ranging from $200-800. The light is bright, the fan is powerful, and the design looks awesome. The only thing bad with this is the 5 inch exhaust it comes with doesn't fit standard 5 inch venting, but with a little cutting and a bit of metal tape it works great!
