Vufine Wearable Display

Alrighty, I have played around with the Vufine for a couple days now and have some mixed feelings.

For one, it is useless if you intend to use it with thin-framed glasses. Even with the included 'brace' for thin frames, the Vufine is just too heavy. The mount was constantly slipping downward. To make matters worse, it was extremely uncomfortable and you will constantly be adjusting your glasses due to the added weight. I have a hat mount on the way which should take care of that issue, still a bummer that it doesn't work right out of the box though.

So, that's a bummer. But onto the good stuff, which may surprise you..

With the included dorky glasses, the mount works quite well! It does not slip off your face like normal script glasses will (at least in my case). It's pretty neat not having to look down at a field monitor and instead have a small screen constantly in your FOV. Takes some getting used to, but it will certainly come in handy when I'm shooting video with my Ronin.

The BEST use I've found so far with the Vufine surprised me though.. For taking photos!! Holy sh*t if you find yourself trying to take photos in unusual positions and don't want to use the back LCD screen, this is literally like a small electronic viewfinder constantly on your eye. Honestly it's so good with my A7Riii, that I can go out shooting and not even have to rely on the EVF or back LCD screen.

So there you have it.... Sucks for prescription glasses, is okay for video shoots, and kicks ass for taking photos in difficult positions/locations. It's overpriced in my opinion, but I'll be keeping mine because of the usefulness I stated above.

I bought this as a kind of experiment. I'm an illustrator/ painter and I work from photo references, or 3D model programs. I found this to be a great tool/ time saver while I work. Normally i'll have my computer with my references set up on the side and whatever my canvas is in front of me. Sometimes its a nuisance to have to turn my head so much to look at the reference and by the time I turn back to my work I have lost the specific spot I was concentrating on. The beautiful thing about the vufine display is that I can keep my eye exactly where I'm working and then just shift focus onto the reference. I've gotten pretty quick at it, and it prevents my neck from getting exhausted! One of the mounts it comes with allows you to pretty much position it anywhere you need high/low/left/right, and that helps with comfort and the position I sit in ( I can be looking down on a page and look up at the reference, or up at a canvas and look down for the reference) haven't had the chance to use it for sculpture yet, but I can see it being a huge benefit.
When I draw comic books its also a really nice feature to be able to read the script/character descriptions while I rough in a page. This has given me an idea to use it as I obnoxiously sing songs while I work so my girlfriend gets annoyed. I can look up any Chumbawamba song and read the lyrics as I dance. Maybe this would be good for actors on set rehearsals or musicals?
It's nice that it comes with prescriptionless glasses, but they are pretty small. I have a small head and they fit pretty snug.

As I coach hockey (goalie) professionally, I am always looking for creative devices to help me coaching on and off ice.
I found Vufine could help me monitoring the GoPro view from behind the net or from on ice level.
The first obvious challenge was to find the way to attach the Vufine mount on my helmet. However, it was much easier than I thought as I just utilized the standard helmet part to attach the cage (J-Clip) and it worked perfectly.
I set the GoPro behind the net on the glass board or on the ice to capture my goalie training, connect with my phone via WiFi then monitor with Vufine through HDMI connector. This way I can see if the goalie is in good position against the puck or not etc with the real time view onsite. The quality of the screen is very clear and easy to watch once you adjust the screen at the right place in front of your eye.
Does it bother me when I was shooting? No, I just have to detach the Vufine off from my helmet as the magnetic mount makes it very easy to do.
I can see this device would be also useful for monitoring specific camera (like from behind the goalie) when coaches are on the bench, or even checking some real time stats sent from the video coach up in the stand.
I really wish they would come up with the update including Bluetooth or WiFi connection so it'll be cable free.
Nice product to make you think creative with anything you do!

Excellent device if you read the description and know what it is capable of. It works the best and seamlessly with any kind of Windows PC device including Intel Compute Sticks and it works very well! I have used it to game Elder Scrolls Oblivion, surf on Chrome, watch Amazon Prime Video, and more. Highly recommend purchasing the headband mount especially if you have a big head like me, much more stable and easy to adjust. Purchase the Vufine+ model if you want to connect it to a Nvidia Shield K1 tablet or a Galaxy S8 or above with MHL HDMI output capability; as stated on their website only the Vufine+ is compatible with those devices. Overall a sleek device! I love it.

I really like the vufine +. For $160 it beats any other display to meet part 107 requirements and keep visual line of sight. The magnetic mounting clips don't work well with eye glass frames that have short hight on the ear piece. They need to be around an 1/8th inch tall for the mount to have large enough flat surface to not want to roll. Glare may be a slight issue but I'm going to try to cut out an anti glare screen protector. Beats a heavy pair of goggles imo.

I hooked it up to my mavic with a mirascreen till I get an invidia shield tablet(after spending $50 on USB adapters trust me, these are the only two options for the mavic and the vufine to work). Though it worked with the eachine rotg Android fpv receiver and a USB hub with an HDMI adapter built in. The mirascreen has a slight delay but for slow video shots it works well. Might want to switch your mavic to 5.8ghz on the remote so they are on different frequencies but had no interference on 2.4ghz yet.

I’ve purchased this product for my personal use at the ice-rink. I use this little device to watch my kids’ hockey game while I am recording their games. It is so hard to record the game decently while you are watching the exciting ice-hockey game. This gadget helps me enjoy watching the hockey game in real-time while I am recording the game ‘decently’. I was doing a ‘Live streaming’ the ice hockey game in NY to the family back home in California in the last weekend. It was so perfect! All of the family members in our team were super happy that they could see the game at home! I thought this small genius gadget can be used for many different purposes. Our hockey coach wants the device and I will order one for him, where he will find a better way of using it.
The battery life is long enough to cover three whole periods of the hockey game, which is over an hour, and was still decently working after that. Since there are no apps to install it is very easy to use! I recommend this gadget to people who are multi-tasking., e.g. watching the hockey game on TV while you are doing your homework and perhaps, watching a movie while you are washing dishes.

Good product. Device works as intended for what it advertises. I thought the picture quality off of it was quite excellent for such a small device. I find that I’ve been using it to watch videos streamed off my phone while I’m also on my laptop. It really ends up feeling like a real life picture in picture haha. While it works well, I really wish it were wireless. I feel like the device would be a lot less cumbersome if it didn’t have to have wires dangling off of it.

Also can see myself using it in the future as a monitor for video recording from the camera.

This is a very niche product and while the technology in this market sector is immature the Vufine executes what it set out to do very well. I am able to run this wired to a Raspberry Pi at around 1280x1024 resolution. The only downside of this device is that my wife won't let me wear it in public around her. :P

JGreat gadget for the price and the screen quality is suprisingly great. I did have to buy an adaptor to connect it to my iphone but it works immediately once you get it connected. a lot of fun to play around with, we love it!

I'm on the road a ton for work, and one of the things I miss when on the road is my second monitor, which admittedly doesn't fit very well into my carry on bag... Given this, I've been looking for a small, portable monitor that I can take on the road with me, though most of the options I've found are still pretty cumbersome when also trying to fit a week's worth of clothes into a small suitcase. Vufine has been a nice addition to my repertoire, effectively allowing me to bring along a second screen without having to lug along another monitor. I also enjoyed the privacy aspect when stuck in the middle seat on a long flight home. Setup was pretty straightforward and while I wish the battery lasted a bit longer on its own, it's done a good job of meeting my needs for now.
