Samsung NX58H9500WS Slide-In Stainless Steel Gas Range with 5 Sealed Burners, 30-Inch

Have been extremely pleased with this range, but yes, the brushed stainless steel (or aluminum?) has to be cleaned as advised. Abrasive powders or pads will scratch it. And as reported a few times, the self-cleaning cycle can trip the protective thermostat, shutting off the control panel and locking up the door, requiring a service call, albeit a relatively simple one. We just had this happen a few days past the end of warranty, technically according to the order date, but Samsung immediately agreed to honor the later physical delivery date for the warranty, and had a service person here within two days. We found the entire service process to be polite, cooperative and efficient.

Our technician told us that the thermostat problem is unfortunately common across many current brands and models (check out youtube on this), and is often due to newer models with larger cases being fitted into slots originally cut for smaller cases. While clearance may be within the minimum specs, during self-cleaning, say on a warm day without extra ventilation, the temperature can exceed the thermostat's limit and trip it. On older models, this problem can be a failing ventilation fan, which is another matter, but with the same result.

Anyway, given the price and complexity of this terrific appliance, and this positive first year warranty experience, we're keen on purchasing an extended 5-year service plan, if available. And we'll continue using the self-cleaning cycle, but will pull the unit out from the wall a bit and set a window fan at it and see how that goes, and evaluate widening or ventilating the slot. Do-it-yourself-ers can find videos on youtube showing how to replace the simple and inexpensive thermostat, and might keep one or two on hand if they encounter this problem. Prospective buyers should also check out first whether they live within an in-home Samsung service area, to avoid complications obtaining service support.

Excellent construction.
The knobs/gas valves have that smooth heavy glide feel that quality valves do.
The oven touch screen is bright, descriptive, and easy to use. Who needs a manual, right guys?
Spray the touch screen with cleaner and it comes on, BUT, doesn't activate everything or go crazy while you wipe it clean with a paper towel.

There are two large burners, one that is traditional on the front left, and the other front right that will go from full on super boil to a nice easy simmer all on one burner.

Comes with the optional rear gap filler. Comes with a very HEAVY center grill/griddle. This flips.

All burners are removable for cleaning, all have a large gap underneath for easy clean mats.
The center burner lights fully on the first try.
Fast time to temp in the oven, comes up in convection first so a smaller top oven is not quicker than a full size oven.
Large oven, several racks, one that opens by half so you have half a shelf that offers height on a lower one. Why? Don't know yet.

No upright back panel so large pots will center on the rear burners therefore all burners are fully usable.
Flat cooking surface so you can slide pots around without having to pick them up.

The stove top is 1/2 inch wider on each side than the actual stove itself so you don't need a gap filler between stove and counter.
Therefore you don't have the gap between stove and counter which food always falls between. The feet are adjustable for counter height but mine slid in perfectly and overlapped the counter. Nice.

My range finally came (after being a week late due to fedex incompetence). Worth the wait. It's beautiful! I was able to install it myself in about 2 hours. The control panel is touch screen and seems high tech. The screen is as sensitive as my iPhone is. There does not seem to be any lag between touching and response. There are a lot of setting features with the oven that I am excited to try. The interior oven is LARGE and I love the 3 racks. Drawer on the bottom is the perfect size to raise bread or to keep things warm. The cooktop is heavy duty and seems like it will be easy to clean.
I have not been able to fire it up yet because the gas line guy needs to come out to repair the line he put in. I will add to the review when I'm able to cook/bake a few things with it

Update: finally got it going and I went crazy cooking and baking all sorts of things. As described in other reviews, there was a horrible smell from the oven upon first use but I have been reassured that that will go away soon.
Bakes and cooks like a dream. Water boiled within a few minutes. Baking was even and turned out perfect. Convection fan is so quiet.
I love this oven!

We've only had this for a few months, but so far so good.

The pros:
1. Looks great.
2. Intuitive touch screen controls and nice cooktop knobs.
3. Cooks well.
4. The front right burner gets as hot as the center of the Sun.

The cons:
1. Stainless is never really clean, is it?
2. Griddle burner doesn't get hot enough to grill stuff (takes a while to heat up enough for pancakes, for example).
3. The flame on the right rear burner (smallest burner) sometimes actually goes out when turned down rapidly. We don't have any issues with our other gas appliances, but I suppose it is possible that our natural gas pressure is on the low side (haven't had it checked).

We purchased this range through a local retailer (a major chain, no spoilers) so I can't comment on the shipping and delivery. I can, however, comment on the product itself. We have had it for a week and a half now.

This is an absolutely terrific gas range. I have used the range many times now and the oven a few times. The range providers superb control over the flame height in all of the burners. I cannot comment on the middle burner yet as I have not had the opportunity to use it.

I used the "Roast" setting to roast some cauliflower (coated with a sauce I made) which came out absolutely perfect. It was still rather juicy and not dry at all. I was able to trust that my food was being cooked with the proper consistency.

I was a bit concerned that the interface would be a bit gimmicky. I have (thankfully) been proven wrong. It is built as a solid glass panel interface that is very easy to clean.

Overall, this range's ability to deliver a consistent distribution and height of flame along with the oven's consistency with how it cooks food on particular settings makes it one of the most delightful ranges I've ever had the pleasure of cooking on.

Fit perfectly, excellent finish, so far nothing to complain about, had to convert to Propane and it was relatively simple and included all the parts and instruction.

Cleans easy, looks amazing, and works very efficiently. I love the convection oven, but read the instructions first so that you know the basics when it comes to the convention part.

High end stove performance. Oven has three racks - roomy enough to have a party in. Flame control on the top burners is amazing - because lowest flame is when knob turns all the way over, it's super easy to get a simmer. Right front burner is like a turbo flame and has two elements - heats water like nothing else.

Only downside, the middle burner does not run the griddle well - overcooks middle, and undercooks edges. And also takes forever to warm up. So we don't use that one, but only use the middle burner to heat pots.

Man what can I say about this gas range..it's awesome , it looks perfect inside and out. The price is the right one better than lowes and Home Depot the only thing that Amazon doesn't have extended warranty but Samsung it's well made. Delivery was on time , the box had no dents at all. Delivery guys were very careful with my range. In other words I am very satisfied with my purchase and my new range. Thank you Amazon.
Installation was very easy...bought the gas range and dryer kit at lowes for 29$ tax included.

Have been using this range at least once a day for the last 3+ months and we are completely pleased!
