Red Water Tracing & Leak Detection Flourescent Dye - 1 Gallon

I give it five stars because it did what I needed it too. We had a stubborn septic problem that left the professionals perplexed. We needed to do several dye tests over several weeks from different locations to track the leak down. To ensure we were not getting old dye from a previous test, we alternated between this red dye and the fluorescent green of the same brand. The green dye was MUCH brighter and more potent. Even miniscule amounts of it glowed like crazy under black light. The red dye worked too, but not as good. So, if you want the best one, start with green. Both colors are mind blowing potent though. They'll make a couple thousand gallons of water or septic waste extremely colored. Also, search "pee dar"on amazon they make a UV flashlight that will work extremely well with the green

Wanted to make sure the water from a French drain was indeed going through the drain -- quite a ways down into a ditch. All of a sudden, the water turned blood red. Didn't see any red coming to surface!! Confirmed!!! Made me happy!!!
ONE THING though -- when I received this liquid product, it had leaked into the shipping box. The small seal under the lid was NOT sealed; the inside of the box and all the packing material was pretty well soaked in red - lost some of it. Perhaps the gallon jug should have been put into a sealed bag prior to shipping -- this could have been much worse given even one more day during shipping process.

We needed to trace where our basement sump drain was discharging. I found this product on line at Amazon and gave it a try. I ended up using the entire gallon, pouring it down the sump drain in the basement. The red water dye was found out at the end of our property line draining into a ditch. Now we know where the basement sump drain is discharging.

I got this to add to my outdoor fountain for this Halloween. When it's in the water and with the UV light it looks like a red-orange and the fountain water spraying up is pink and purple. I will try the green next year but this works and definitely shows up in the UV. A little goes a long way and be sure to wear gloves because it will stain your skin Pink.

I wanted to trace the source of water in a drain outlet. I added this product to my septic tank and added water, and yes, colored water appeared in my drain outlet some 50 feet from the septic tank. I was not sure whether said water was coming from the septic system of the downspout drainage system. Mystery solved. Just what I needed I know what needs to be repaired.

Great product.
My problems weren't solved by using the dye. But, had my drain pipe not been buried in 6 inches of mud...and have reeds growing up all around it...well...I'm sure I would have seen the dye! I bought a fluorescent flashlight to make it glow...and it fluoresced great.

I'm pleased with this water tracing dye. I used it to diagnose draining problems on my property. It was effective and a little went a long way.

The dye was just what I needed to find out which roof drain line running under our parking lot was broken. I had gotten both the green and the red.

Worked like a charm. Helped us identify the location of a pond leak. Our pond is about 1/4 acre, 20' deep. Dumped in the whole gallon at once.

Our company needed a dye to add to a closed water loop system to help us locate any water leaks. Once we installed the dye we were able to find several very small leaks. We isolated the components and made the repairs. I highly recommend this product.
