K&H Domino 2 Burner Induction Ceramic Cooktop 220V INDV-3102

K&H Domino 2 Burner Induction Ceramic Cooktop 220V INDV-3102

This is an incredible bargain compared to high-end name-brand. It works almost as well (read on) at a small fraction of the price.
At first glance, there appear to be only 9 power levels, not 17. The instruction manual is rather cryptic, saying press a number twice, and again to return to the previous level. What it means is that there are two power levels associated with each number. A decimal point is displayed next to the number to indicate you are getting the higher-level power for that same number. (Meaning "1", and "1.5", and so on.) It toggles back and forth between Low and High for each number as you press the number repeatedly.
With my cookware, I have found that level 1 will raise water to 148 degrees, level 1.5 gets to 170, but perversely, when the water is already 210 (level 2), I can turn it down to 1.5 and the water stays at 210. Possibly an artifact of the conductivity in my specific pans. When the pan is hot, it takes less power to keep it hot. So don't count on my temperatures for your pans. Do run your own tests before cooking that lobster in butter.
This cooker also uses cyclic energy bursts to achieve lower heat levels, which is less compatible with some foods than the more expensive cookers. For example, level 1 turns the power on for a few seconds, then off for a few more seconds, repeat. Depending on the specific pan used, the surface temperature of the pan may vary more or less widely during these power boosts. So you can't melt chocolate directly on the pan because it will get too hot during the ON cycle, You have to use a water bath, or some other damping mechanism. That said, it works adequately, and for the price, you can adjust your cooking style to adapt. (or you can spend five or six times as much and get a high-end name-brand.)
If this is your first Induction cooker, be aware that the top-of-the-line induction cookers are easier to cook on, and do a better job than radiant electric or gas. I still like it better than my gas stove, and it's so easy to clean compared to either gas or electric radiant--the surface never gets hotter than the bottom of the pan, and doesn't stay hot very long. Virtually no chance of a fire with induction cookers. This one is far more powerful than the 120 v 2-burner units you may be comparing. This one is a smart, economical choice; only less than perfect at lower temperatures.

I rarely leave reviews but have to for this product. I purchased the induction and the conventional ceramic cooktops from D&H. While at first I was suspicious due to low price, I am stunned with the look and quality and the customer support (we had a small issue with the first cooktop not knowing how to properly connect it - whoever is leaving poor reviews that it doesn't heat up fast doesn't know how to connect it properly - contact the seller and he'll provide easy excellent detailed instructions). My family lives in Europe and has Bosch for all appliances. This absolutely matches the look and feel and quality. I'm a super happy customer and love both of my cooktops. After doing three months of research for a high end kitchen remodel - this hands down is the top winner. Buy it, don't think twice about it.

This is a pretty nice unit. We have it in a small basement apartment where we wanted to minimize the fire hazard and maximize the counter space. We've used it ourselves some. It installs easily into a quartz counter top - drop in and go. I hard-wired it. We have it over a wide 4-drawer base and the drawer directly below the unit is fully usable. There are 2 fans that blow down into the drawer, but only cool air as near as I can tell. There are little feet on the unit for setting it on the counter top if you want to do that, and I just left those on to ensure I had clearance.

The big complaint with the other-brand similar looking unit is temperature control. This one seems to do well. It boils water or heats your saute pan really fast, but also makes rice without burning it. It can keep a small pot hot with out boiling, or keep it barely at boil. It does cycle on/off for heat control at the lower settings, so you might see your pot of water slowly cycle to a bit more boil, then none, if you are trying for a very, very low boil. But it seems to get it done.

The biggest complaint is probably that the it's too easy to "touch" the touch controls and accidentally turn off a burner. Lets be clear, it's not a big unit, so a 10" saute pan in front is basically right at the touch controls and you can easily slide the pan and turn things on or off. But all-in-all, we are pretty darn happy with it.

My countertop was custom built to accommodate a $500 Schott/Summit cooktop. I burned through two of them. Working with their repair department was a nightmare and I gave up, living with a hot plate for six months.

I was happy to find this alternative. I don't know if it's intentional, but the dimensions are identical to the Schott unit, so it fit the gaping hole in my countertop at 1/3 the price.

I did have a problem with the first unit I got, but they happily accepted the return, paid the return postage and the new unit is working perfectly.

If you are looking to replace the way more expensive Schott unit, this is a great alternative

The stove top is almost a five. Because of the compact size, and the location of the controls it does not accommodate two large pots at the same time. But I was using two portable units before, which took up a lot of counter space, and this is a much better looking and sleeker option. Also I love the fact that there are 17 levels of power on each burner. Great price for what I got.
I contacted the seller because there is no direction in the manual for the electrical connections. They told me the wiring information was on the Amazon product page - not a place I would have looked. The manual also could stand to have the contact information for the seller. It has an "After Sales Service" section, but no contact information. Again, need to go to Amazon for it.

I finally was able to use the cooktop today. Purchased it several months ago but had to rebuild the countertop first.
Pros:
1. It worked as expected, and I am very pleased with that! I cooked spaghetti and, while the water did not boil as much as the previous coil unit, it still cooked the pasta just right by adding a couple minutes to the boil time.
2. Cookware begins heating immediately.
3. MUCH easier to clean than the old 1985 Jenn Aire coil units!
4. The kitchen does not heat up - a plus for me because I become overheated quite easily.
5. Much less expensive than other brands.
6. Customer service appears to be great, according to other reviews.
Cons
1. My saucepan emits an annoying whistle or high pitched noise at the lower temps required for the meat sauce. It sounds very much like a whistling tea kettle but not as loud. I'm sensitive to similar sounds, so I don't stay in the kitchen the entire time. By utilizing the timer to turn the burner off I can keep food from burning if I get busy with something else. I hope to discover what pans I can use that will not emit the noise.
2. The instructions leave very much to be desired. Common sense will give almost anyone the ability to turn a burner on and select a temperature range. But I found out quite by accident that each setting number (1-9) can switch from low to high setting within that number. That gives twice as many temp settings! The manual does not explain this very well at all. It would be great if a current user would volunteer a set of instructions that was much clearer.

I purchased just one of these 2 burner units to give it a try. I'll be purchasing another now that I know I will be very satisfied with the induction unit.

Replaced old radiant cook top elements in several-decades-old Maytag range. This cook top is way more efficient: boils a pot of water in 4 minutes compared with more than 10 minutes on the radiant elements when both are set on "high". Super easy to clean ceramic surface: surface does not get very hot so nothing bakes on - just wipe food off. Easy control of level of heat. The only missing feature is constant temperature control of cooking pan that is available in some high-end induction cook tops.

So far so good. Few weeks in. Comes with feet to put on countertop. Need to cut granite to fit. Cast iron pans work the best. Very quick to heat up. Go slow tho as pans can warp. This has lots of power and quick to adjust with touch buttons. For the size I have to straddle both burners with 14" castiron or big kettle. Then it has serious power. Fan is a bit noisy but this is a trade off. Counter should muffle this a bit later.
Thanks for making a good product affordable.
240 single phase needed. Double tap a set number to get that number plus a half a number more.

Had to spend 400 dollars to get this installed. The electrician said there was information missing in installation guide (amps I think). Then the front burner stopped working in 2 weeks. Back burner still works, but randomly turns itself off.
I was prett upset, but the gentleman from kitchen and bath called me and was very nice. He made everything right. You seldom see this kind of effort these days. I will buy from them again. Yay!

The unit itself is great. It cooks fast, is easy to install (good thing, as you'll read), and the support from Kitchen & Home has been terrific. My only reservation is that the reliability has been not so great. In just over 2 years I'm on my 4th unit. First one had a minor defect (transformer whine even when "off"). Second one arrived and had a defective push-button panel. Third one arrived and worked perfectly for almost a year. It just started throwing E1 codes. I contacted K&H and they shipped me another straight away. It would be preferable not to need support but it's great to know that when you need it, their support is first rate!
