G-S Hypo Cement

I purchase this product a lot because it does it's job when it's dry. I make jewelry so this seals a knot well. I love the thin precision needle like tip as well. I also like that it doesn't dry fast and leaves working time to finish a project. Also, the product gets on my hands and thankfully doesn't bind my fingers together like some other glues. The downside is that there is a constant flow of glue that comes out from the fine tip so when I use it and set it down to quickly finishy project, there is a glop off glue on the table (or paper I set it down on). When I go to put the needle cap back on, I need to wipe off all the glue that oozed out. You need good eye sight to get the needle cap back on to the tube, this can be challenging in bad lighting. Overall a good product and I will continue to use.

I've searched far and wide for a cement that will not yellow when dry or with age to restore vintage rhinestone jewelry. THIS is it...There is nothing else that 1) enables you to put just the right amount of glue around the edges of the smallest (and largest) cup to secure a replacement rhinestone, and 2) dries clear if left alone and does not yellow or discolor in any way with age - I still have some vintage rhinestone jewelry that I restored back in the 1980s, and they're still gorgeous!

NEVER EVER EVER EVER glue a rhinestone with Super or Crazy glue. That type of glue will ruin the finish on the rhinestone. and you'll be left with a cloudy stone that you can't get out without a chisel and a hammer, LOL! Super or Crazy Glues are Perfect for gluing opaque stones like Pearls, Milk Glass, etc. The Gel version of Super Glue is what I find the easiest and best to use for pearls and opaque stones.

Well, I've digressed, as usual. But I feel obligated to help the folks out there who might be trying to restore vintage jewelry and haven't been given any info. This listing might just be a good place to ask your questions about vintage jewelry restoration! Ask away!

Just my two cents worth of experience so far.
Never grab by the tube, only by the hold by the folded end of the tube.
Always put the cap back on even for a second between uses.
Don't squeeze unless nothing is happening when you turn it upside down, then only lightly, I just kind of wiggle and shake the end I am holding because when it comes out it really comes out. Have a tissue handy to wipe the tip while holding the tube upright still by the end untill you get the cap back on so it doesn't get glued on, really the best method for all glue.
You will have to switch hands to get this needle end cap on, still only holding the end of the tube, place your middle or ring finger behind the opening to hold it steady and help you see and guide the needle cap on.
Last, but not least put it int he box so it does not get smashed and cause a mess when you open it again. Works great on knots, and will last if you take these precautions.

I kept reading about this product in beading instructions and I didn't have any. Well, I am sure glad I purchased it! It is perfect for precise placement of a high quality cement-especially for making sewn, hand beaded jewelry. I was always afraid that my stitches would pull out before, but not now that I add touches of G-S Hypo Cement. And the tube closes up securely and doesn't dry out like so many other cements and glues. Great product design!

This glue is comparable to e600 except it's more liquid-like. I like that for tiny projects and really enjoy the needle tip. I used this glue to glue clear glass beads around a cathedral length veil. Dries quickly and it so translucent you can't even tell where the glue was applied. I'm happy it does not take away from the luster of the clear glass beads. I have also used this glue for other projects as well and still give it five stars!

This stuff is great for jewelry. I work in a jewelry store and we use it all sorts of repairs. I would definitely recommend this stuff. The precision applicator is also great but because the glue itself is viscous, it takes a long time for it to come out. So be patient when using it and do not squeeze too much or it will keep pouring out.

Works beautifully but you have to be really careful when you first open it, it just explodes with glue. Then be sure you wipe off the extra or it’ll glue itself into the lid. I inadvertently ripped off the pin when this happened and now I can’t really use it

The concept of the needle nose applicator is this product's appeal. The glue formula is okay, but the applicator is the selling point. I don't know of any other needle-nose glue tube. However, as a whole, the product has a couple strikes against it:

1. No way to keep a bit of glue from drying in the cap, after putting it on the "needle". Thus, don't be surprised if the needle pulls off from the tube stuck inside the cap. Then try to figure out how to reattach it to the tube, so that you can use all the precious glue yet inside.

2. The glue is "precious" mostly due to its startling price for a mere .3 ounces! Did you get that? There's a decimal point in front of that 3. I thought the price was high before, but it appears that it rocketed recently, which I think is a big negative move. I had to dig around on Amazon to find a price I was willing to pay, at least this time. I'm rethinking about what I will do, when I run out again. An in-store price was exorbitant!

G-S has produced this product for a long time. They need to do a better job with their applicator construction, and good luck with staying alive with that negative killer pricing! I'm disappointed and looking for something more reasonable for next time.

I purchased this at the recommendation of an Etsy seller to glue a cabochon into the tray of a blank cuff bangle bracelet.

It worked great - I let it set overnight and the cabochon seems to be quite sturdily glued into the tray. So it was very effective for what I needed it for. Just one thing to note: It has a very, very fine long metal tip at the nozzle which is designed for fine rhinestone work. The tube does leak quite a bit when you're using it, so be sure to have something guarding your work surface. Also, I found it very difficult to replace the cap due to the long metal nozzle. After a few tries, I got it to go back on, and I wiped away any excess glue from around the cap.

I don't know if they have this glue with a nozzle made for gluing larger surfaces, but if they do, I'll be buying it.

Works good for cementing cords and thin chain or snake chain into end bead connectors (the right term?). Inserting several of more into an oversized end bead makes great dangle earings and pendents. Do different lengths and put your favoarite bead on each strand, Tickles! Careful, as like any glue, it tends to dry out at the end of the thin tip.
