FiftyThree Digital Stylus Pencil for iPad, iPad Pro, and iPhone - Graphite

I love the stylus and how it works with my iPad and the Application Paper53, however, and this is what bothers me a bit but I still love the stylus don't get me wrong: "The Tips", oh man, they should be more wear resistant (any improvement here would be very welcome), - this is why I'm giving it four stars (actually it's more like 4.5).

I have a screen protector on my iPad and when the stylus was new the rubber tip was great but then after just two weeks it started sagging and jumping lines, I ordered replacement tips because I figured they would come in handy and boy o boy, they not only are handy but since I am a heavy user it turns out the first replacement lasted only about 9 days before it started sagging like the one the stylus came with, which if you can manage it's not a deal breaker but I would love it if they lasted longer. I know that in a consumer economy buying replacement parts are necessary (like ink and batteries, etc,) but again, I would love some heavy duty tips, I would buy those even if they were more expensive than the 8 bucks you pay for the replacement pair of tips Paper sells for this stylus that it indeed magical, exciting to use and awesome but it would be "super awesome" if the tips withstood my style of sketching.

I'll keep this short and to the point: this stylus is outstanding. I took a while researching the "right" drawing stylus and this thing had proven its worth.

I've had it for 1 1/2 months now, very little wear on the tip, use an iPad Air 1, no cover on glass, and I've been using Adobe Sketch. The FiftyThree drawing app isn't good, but there are some excellent (cheep) apps out there to use instead. Attached are a few projects I've done solely on my iPad.

Hope this helps, as I love my FiftyThree stylus! You can check out [...]

Update 14 Jan 16:
So I left my initial review for the 53 digital stylus. It was an honest review of a product that I thought was great, but I had a poor experience with it. I don't leave reviews to get attention from the vendor. I leave reviews on amazon to give customers a honest assessment on the product they might potentially buy. Within a day of my review, I was contacted by a REAL PERSON from the company. This wasn't an automated response to three star review, but a real person contacting me and asking me what they could do to make me happy. This meant a lot to me. A product can be good, but if there isn't a great customer service team attached to it, it will never be great. Not only did FiftyThree send me (no questions asked) replacement items for my stylus, but they offered in-depth advise on how to prevent my experience from happening again. This is a company with a very impressive device, who obviously cares a lot about the customer too. This makes this stylus a five star product. I look forward to FiftyThree's next generation stylus.

The pen seems to be a great concept. After a few days of light use, the eraser side stopped being recognized as the eraser. I fiddled with it like the instructions said, but ended up having to replace the eraser tip with the one that was included. I was kind of disappointed with that. A few days later, the pressure sensitivity on the pen/pencil side started working intermittantly. So like the eraser, I cleaned it, and did the trouble shooting. After having to use the test portion in the 53 app overtime I needed to use the pen, I ended up replacing the pen tip with the included replacement. I was a little disappointed that I had to use the tip replacements within the first week of owning it. This was just light use, a few sketches and drawings getting used to the app. The app and pen are solid when they work together. I like being able to angle the pen to get that "pencil shading" effect. Overall, a great product, but having to use both of my replacement tips in the first week knocked it down to three stars for me.

The Pencil by 53 uses an usb charge (remove the nib tip), doesn't have buttons and it's made of metal so it's a little bit heavy, but still it feels natural in my hand. It also comes with an eraser in the other end.
It connects with Bluetooth just by turning it on and then find the app you use and set the Pencil in the Stylus options. In the app setting you'll find the Palm Rejection (at least in Skecthbook). The Pencil is very very accurate and you will not have ghost lines at all. The round nib is good for painting, shading or drawing big lines, it's not very comfortable for thin lines, for example for tracing.
The Bluetooth connections is very strong, it only disconnects if you get far away the Pencil or change to another app, and if it disconnects it will connect again by itself. The Stylus would had been amazing with a different nib (thinner), and it's weird, because I think they can make another tip special for this Stylus, the nib can be replaced if it's damaged, so I think the company can make another nib (thinner) for this Stylus. The Pencil by 53 comes with an extra nib tip and an eraser for replacing when necessary.
OVERALL: The Pencil's 53 is actually really good! I really like it! I plan to use it mostly for shading or painting, or for making heavy lines. It's very sturdy, uses usb charge, and it's a a great stylus for professional use!

It may work for others, but it is not quite what I expect, thus after some consideration I have to regretfully return it.

1/ the tip design is big. Therefore field of view is somehow limited. Precision is harder also. You can see the big tip from the picture, and probable have some bad feeling about it.
2/ the tip is too soft for good writing feel. I train myself a day to acquaint with it, but decide that it is not quite the product for me. I have to put the stylus at almost 90 degree on the screen surface to get good drawing or writing. 45 degree doesn’t quite do it,, because the tip would bend.
3/ palm rejection is ok. If they fix the tip design, I would go back and buy the product again.
4/ pressure seems not working. Paper apps only put down strong thick or thin lines based on the speed, not the pressure. Ironically, the app implements it a little bit contradict to how we draw on paper. I write faster, exert less pressure when we want thin lines, but the app give us thick lines.

I really wish the producer keep up with improve design. It is so closed to perfection for me but I have limited fund and had to return it.

I bought one and it had some problems but FiftyThree fixed me up with a replacement that has been working perfect. They really took care of me.
From my experience, they have the absolute best customer service that I have ever come across.
I don't use the pencil every day but when I do it performs as I would want. I am not an artist but it excels at drawing. The Paper application works outstanding with this product. There is a list of other Apps on 53's website that work with the pen.
From what I gather, it is limited to connected use with iOS products.

I think this is the best drawing stylus (other than the just released Apple Pencil for the iPad Pro) that you can get for the iPad. Setup is seamless, the results are great. It works with about a half dozen apps other than Paper by Fiftythree. Many hours of sketching in my future!

this "pencil" is much more then a pencil. with the paper app this pencil transform your ipad or iphone into something amazing. i wouldnt say this replaces a wacom but it does work well. Sync's effortlessly, the eraser tip is quick and very user intuitive. Great gift for someone thats getting into drawing or is already a pro.

WOW!! Love this stylus.

It's brilliant with FiftyThree Paper on my iPad Air 2 but also works exceptionally well with other apps like Noteshelf and Art Studio. I ordered replacement tips in case they are as fragile as some suggest, but I love this stylus so much that I will willingly buy replacement parts as needed.

I was lusting after a smaller iPad Pro with Apple's new stylus (the Pro is too big for my needs) but this stylus gives me much of the same functionality on my iPad Air 2. At this point I am also planning to sell my Wacom tablet. This stylus is that good.

Great device and works perfectly. I bought it as a gift for my wife and she loves being able to draw on her iPad with realistic pencil effects. We wish it worked with android too, but we can't hold that against it.
