Unit stopped working 7 months after purchase claiming "ice full". Ice is not full, power cycling the unit doesn't resolve & have confirmed nothing is blocking the sensors (See attached pictures). Unit just stopped working. Reading through other reviews, I see that this is quite a common problem w/ this unit. It may say Igloo, but it is made by Curtis & not worth the $150.

12/10/2018 Update. I have found the way around the problem!! If you are like me & you are addicted to chewable ice, then these icemakers are MONEY!! The problem though is they don't last. :/

SOLUTION: But the warranty from Assurant when you buy the icemaker (wait for it to go on sale). Then when it breaks (and it will) use the warranty & get a new icemaker. Make sure you buy another warranty. I've used this method twice now & after the initial $100 or so outlay on the first machine, each warranty is about $10.

So go ahead and buy this unit. The ice is AWESOME & all it costs you is $10 for a new warranty each time the ice maker breaks.

We have been using it for over two months The ice in the collection basket comes out wet. We use gallon ziploc bags to put them in to hard freeze in our freezer. Once hard frozen, we take out a bag and strike it with a meat mallet on its side to loosen up the cubes and then pour the bag of cubes into our old ice maker bin in the refrigerator. We made 4 gallon bags of ice the day before Thanksgiving and did not have to make ice again until December 3rd. There are only the two of us at home. Since setting it up in September, we have used it 8 times. The downside to it is the ice maker after setting idle gets air in the line sometimes. You have to pull the drain plug out in the bottom and release the water and unplug the unit and plug back in to make it reset. Minor irritation but we are retired and have the time to fool with it. I love the large cubes. I chew on ice and these are nice and crunchy. It makes cubes every seven minutes. Takes us at least four to five hours to fill 4 gallon zip lock bags. We are pleased with the product.

I got this Ice Maker as a gift for my boyfriend. I was hoping the cubes were going to be smaller, but they are still a good size. The "small" is just a thinner piece of ice compared the the "large" which are thicker pieces. We had a party and realized we weren't going to have enough ice for drinks, so I started making some. Within an hour, I had roughly a full gallon-sized bag of ice cube for drinks! Bonus: The machine is quiet too!
Some tips: as the ice is in the process of making, constantly remove the ice cubes as they drop in the catch-tray. This is not a storage vessel, but just a catch, and if you don't empty this often enough, the ice will begin to melt. I dumped the ice into a gallon size bag and placed in the freezer in between runs. Since the ice is still wet, it will stick together, but with a slight tap on the counter, it easily breaks apart!
This ice is also really great to chew on!!
I highly recommend this product. No, it's not as small as a traditional "rabbit poop" or "hospital ice", but it's not bad either. If you are looking specifically for either of those, this is not it. I still recommend it though!

This ice maker work wonderfully. It makes I've very quickly. If you don't use the ice it melts and the water recirculates and refreezes. You can see the censors inside that tell it when the ice tray is full. Make sure when putting the tray back in that it slides BELOW the censors because if it thinks the ice is full and won't make any more. We use filtered water to keep everything running nice and smooth and to limit mineral deposits from our hard water. Great item!

I bought this for my camper. I don't use my refrigerator and hate carrying an ice chest. This thing makes ice like crazy. If I don't use all of it, it melts back into the system and just keeps being refrozen. It is really nice to always have ice ready when I come off the trail.I had my doublts, since I am camping in the heat of Texas summer. I store it in the box it came in when traveling between campsites. For longer storage, I dry it out really well and leave some paper towels tucked in. Haven't had any problems with mold, etc. Couldn't be happier with it.

So this is my third ice machine. I run then 350 or so days a year (only turn off when I will be gone for a week or more). So I think it is safe to say it runs almost constantly. This machine has one key feature that I love over all the others - an eye to determine how full ice is vs. a probe. The probe on the last one (a Cabellas model at three times the price of this one) which constantly failed resulting in the machine exploding with ice and I think finally leading to the gear failure that moves the water basked/shovel.) My only complaint, is that while still a 26 pound a day ice maker, it has a smaller basket and I like a LOT of ice. Now we will see how long it will last. Averaging about 2 years per machine, but I got a 4 year extended warranty, hoping that by buying the warranty, tradition will prevail and nothing will ever go wrong.

After receiving this ice maker and using for the first time, it stated that ice cycle should take 8 to 13 minutes to complete. There first cycle took over three hours with little or no ice being made. After adjusting the size of the cubes from large to small, this baby operates like a dream, we love it. Using this to replace the plastic ice maker that came in our GE fridge, that never worked and cost 350.00 to replace and is still broken after once before and broke again. 5 STARS from us on this one.

Love love love love!! I am absolutely in love with this little machine. I just moved... I had a 15 year old fridge that made so much noise and I was using ice trays. I would fantasize about getting a new fridge constantly. I found a great condo that came with a gorgeous stainless steel fridge.... no ice maker. I didn't even know they made countertop ice makers, and I am in love with this one! It makes a huge amount of ice in one round... you can choose small or large pieces, and it's quiet and cute. You can't go wrong... buy it!

I would buy this again. Let me repeat myself, I would buy this again and much sooner than when I DID buy it. This very easy to set up countertop ice making machine is fed by whatever water you put in it. I put in filtered water, but sometimes, I could buy a jug of distilled or spring water and still make some cubes. It is frugal with water use, giving rise to very aerated cone like cubes that are crunchy and nice. They look like the ghosts on the Pac Man game. It makes ice fast and fills up and we pour it into a plastic bag and put it in the freezer.

It's also cute!

Love this thing! We have an ice maker in our fridge but my husband prefers the ice that comes in a bag. I got tired of valuable freezer space being taken up by frozen water so I got him this for Father's Day. Works great! And it doesn't have to be in the kitchen. We keep it on the dresser in the bedroom. Check out the open box deals. We saved about $20 and it was perfect.
