In my opinion anyone who is serious about their X-Star Premium drone should get at least one extra battery. I personally ordered 2 additional batteries. When you are flying your drone somewhere in nature one battery is just not enough to get all the footage you planned for.
This battery is the only option available for the Autel Robotics X-Star Premium Drone replacement battery. The battery is the same as the one that comes with the drone. Officially it provides about 25 minutes of flying experience however for safety precautions and responsible flying I recommend landing your drone at 15-20 minutes and swapping the battery out. It takes on average an hour to charge. In order to preserve your battery's charge its recommended that you do not keep it inside your drone when not in use. The hard case that the X-Star Premium drone comes in has cutouts for 4 extra batteries. Every new battery you purchase should get a firmware update prior to use to maximize flight time and optimize battery use. The firmware update for batteries only takes 2 minutes. When charging your battery it is best to not overcharge it. So when the battery's LEDs go off - your battery should be disconnected from the charger. Don't forget to pick the right color of this battery to match the color of your drone.
The price for Autel drone battery fluctuates on Amazon from $115 to $130. Amazon does not provide price adjustments anymore. So if you are not in a rush just wait until it's $115 again.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the product.
I have several of these batteries for my Autel X-STAR Premium drone and they have performed well. One feature is they are smart, the on-board electronics monitor the voltage and if they have not been used, they will automatically discharge to a storage state. This is important as the batteries I use for my RC airplanes have to be discharged for storage using an external charger. The batteries return to full charge in less than 30 minutes with the included Autel charger. So far I've not noticed a reduction in flight time which is about the advertised 20 minutes. I recently used the drone to locate a part from one of my RC models that had fallen into a field of oats. I found it after flying the drone for nearly 20 minutes in a search pattern. There was still enough battery for the drone to return automatically to its takeoff point.
excellent battery. easy to use. does what its suppose to do. great for more flying! to use it you will need to do a firmware update with this new battery for it to use all of the features of this drone.
purchase price on Amazon was $115 when I got it which is what is should be. Goto another vendor to get it for the $115-$120 price.
It works. You simply need one - or more extra batteries for a superb drone. 25 minutes on one flight goes by way too fast. My ONLY regret is I bought this a few days before the price dropped to $79. Oh well. :(
*Update, Still a great battery as of July 23, 3 1/2 months after I purchased this. But Autel has no stock on official site, another website shows these have been "discontinued." (Personally, I am not sure why...maybe a better battery coming soon? I really don't know) But this could explain the incredible price jump to $130-139, etc. You can find these still at big box retail stores (some BestBuy's - not all of them, maybe a hobby store, MicroCenter, etc) at the $79.99 price but these are in limited supply now. I would say jump on that price while you still have a chance.
