I redye my black clothes twice a year to keep them looking fresh and dark. I have black clothes I've been wearing and dying for over a decade and they still look great! Rit dye wonderful! arrived on time and works great!
worked great.. I refreshed some washed out Black Trousers and they look brand new, Cheaper than buying a new pair of pants I used half a bottle of dye to 21/2 gallons of hot water, 1 cup of salt dissolved in 2 cups of hot water (best you can), couple of teas. of dish soap. soak the pants for 30-60 minutes, rinse with cold water then washed the pants. My first "dye job". Wish I had read the Q and A before beginning! I put too many things in, even though I used the whole bottle. Also, I think the dye settled at the bottom of the washer (under the drum). The ombre skirt I was dying black came out a purple/ purple ombre, which looks pretty cool and is very goth so I like it, I'll wear it until I can dye it again. The hot pink India style tunic turned purple, with the exception of the armpits, which were black? No idea what happened there. *Update* I read o counter the purple in this dye, you could mix with navy blue. However, as someone who is experienced dying hair and who understands the color wheel, it may be prudent to mix this black (purple) with dark green and navy blue to get a true black. That's what I'll try next.
So much fun and super easy. Instead of throwing my white bridal party dress away, I just dyed it!
I love this stuff. I used it to bring one of my old black hats back to life and it worked like a charm. I have some left over so i am imagine i'll redye it again in 6 months to a year. It seems like this dye really lasts. Highly recommended product.

Used this to dye some clothes and found it pretty effective on anything cotton. I'll have to pick up some of their synthetic dye for the stuff that didn't seem to work with it. Sadly, Rit only has gray in their synthetic dyes so I'll have to use another company.
Maybe the formula has changed since I used it 20 years ago. The print on the bottle was so small I had to use my phone on magnifying setting to read it. I followed directions to the letter and the dye worked on my machine (black stains everywhere) but not the garment.
Hey - what can you say about dye? Make certain your fabric isn't synthetic - like the 'wool' cape I attempted to dye.
I used this to bring the color back to two pairs of jeans that were looking very tired. Did it in a bucket and left them in for over an hour. They came out great! I feel like I got 2 new pairs for the price of a bottle of dye!
I have used this product several times. It makes my jeans look like their brand new. I will continue to order this when needed for my jeans. Great product and so easy to do!!!
