I found this diffuser through a Facebook ad which then then led me to a search through multiple ceramic diffusers until I found the one that I liked aesthetically best. This little guy is a great edition for a work cubicle. He reflects my personality and is perfect for diffusing essential oils to my immediate area only.
We have an office that is very sensitive to odors of all kinds, so I didn't want an atomizing diffuser that plugs in and covers a large square footage area. I wanted something that was "low tech" and would serve just me no matter what essential oil blends I need.
The directions say to fill the reservoir full with your essential oil or do half essential oil and half water. That's a lot in terms of the cost of essential oils, so instead, I elected to drop my oils directly on the wick (I chose 3 drops of each oil I wanted to blend), and then I added filtered water to the reservoir.
We have a strong air conditioner at work, so the water evaporates after about 1.5 days, but you can still smell the oils on the wick and the ceramic. I've been using this diffuser for three weeks, and I have not had to add any additional oils.
My one complaint is that the reservoir is small and needs to be refilled with water after about 1.5 days, but if it were to be knocked over, at least it's not a big mess to clean up. If I was operating an atomizing diffuser, I would have to refill that every 4-12 hours depending on the setting, plus you have to deal with the humidity output from a regular electric diffuser like that.
I have thought about using a carrier oil instead of water to fill the reservoir, but I'm concerned about the carrier oil being messy if it were to fall over (work papers, computer, etc.) I don't want to damage those items.
The ceramic figure is white to begin with, but it will take on the color of your essential oils used.
I would recommend this to anyone. It makes a great gift, and it's fantastic for use within your personal space.
I just want you to know that I LOVE my giraffe diffuser. Besides being cute it works amazingly!! I love walking into my bathroom and not smelling the nasty boy pee smell. (I have three boys, that can't hit the toilet for anything.) Lol. Thank you for a great product!!
