Amazon 1st Generation Kindle Replacement USB Cable

Amazon 1st Generation Kindle Replacement USB Cable

I bought the USB cord for my Kindle from Amazon just before going on a long cruise. Luckily I had extra time because I bought the wrong one - not easy to determine what it is you actually need for the model you have. (I couldn't find anything on my Kindle that told me what model it is.) The good news was that Amazon's return procedure made returning the incorrect cord very easy (boxed it back up and it was picked up at my door at no charge), and the correct one came quickly as usual. The coating on the original cord suddenly started to disintegrate; I have no idea why. The new one works well, charges the Kindle for a long time and is light weight and easy to take along on a trip. So far I see no sign of it deteriorating, but it has only been about two months. If you turn off the connection to the Internet, the battery on the Kindle holds a charge for a long time, and it recharges fairly quickly. I love the Kindle and read a lot of books while on our trip. Keeping it charged was not a problem.

When a good friend gave me her Kindle Ebook reader to take to the hospital for my kidney transplant, I was overjoyed, as I had wanted a Kindle ever since they came out. However, I wanted to load books not found on the Kindle site, and the cord had been lost. Thus, this USB cable allows me to download books from other Ebook sites, and in French, and transfer them to my Kindle. I wouldn't be without this cable for my Kindle!

So far it has been to Spain and Norway and I never want to be without it. It is all that I hoped for and I only use it for books. Someday I may go further but just wanted to get new books cheaper and instantly without leaving home. It works for me. Try the Kindle! I bought an extra cable to make sure I did not lose one and not be able to recharge it. It is also dual voltage which was important to me.

It's not the fastest but it gets the job done.

Works great, no problems.

The replacement cord for the generation 1 Kindle arrived in excellent condition, in a timely manner and through an extremely easy transaction. The cord appeared to be brand new!

My dogs managed to eat my USB cable and the wonderful folks at Kindle support sent one overnight at no charge. This is what I call great service and a great product from a great retailer!

This item was just what I wanted, and it had a great price. It works just as I hoped for, and it's a great addition to me Kindle experience.

What can you say about a cable? It's great? Well of course it's a must have and it's a nice white cable!!!!

My original cord disintegrated. The plastic outer coating literally cracked into many small pieces. This one appears to be OK but time will tell.
