I have tolerated my wife's attempts to make our house smell better for years. We have 3 kids and 3 dogs. I have lived through way too many nauseous,overpowering, irritating and overpriced odors for years. I was pretty upset that she had spent a bunch more money on yet another device. It was much smaller than I had expected. Begrudgingly, I set it up ( very easy to do by the way ) and went to work. I had pretty much forgotten about it by lunch. I came home to a house that smelled clean. I asked my wife what new cleaning product she was using. She told me she hadn't even been home all day. Then it hit me. That tiny little device didn't cloak the odors of a busy house with stinky fake flower stench. It had actually created a very clean and pleasant environment. I'd buy one for every room if I had to but this little thing covers most of the house. We just went away for a week. I used the app ( very easy to use as well ) and had the house smelling good before we got home. I've finally found the perfect wedding gift for anyone.
This diffuser is amazing. I LOVE it. Unlike everything else I have tried, the scents are not overpowering or without any smell. You walk in and there is a light aroma that makes the whole place smell fresh. I noticed some people said they had no scent. My guess is they didn’t remove the top and bottom tabs from the cartridge. I made that mistake once and couldn’t figure out why there was no smell. Turns out I had forgotten to remove the bottom tab
I have owned diffusers in the past, but none compares to this one. Because I can program this diffuser from my phone to turn on a few minutes before I return home, I don't feel as if I am wasting product, and the cartridge will last much longer. Also, I can program how much scent to release, so I can create a subtle but noticeable fragrance, which is what I am looking for. Other scents have given me a headache; the Odyssey scent creates a calm, yet uplifting aroma throughout my home without assaulting my senses. I also like its sleek, quiet, design. Finally, the set-up instructions are clear (I can mess up the easiest of assemblies, but I had no problem with the Aera Smart 2.0). I highly recommend this product if you are looking to create a welcome, clean, noticeable but not overbearing scent- even if you have a cat and a dog!
You know how everyone’s house has a smell? I’m very determined to make sure mine is clean and fresh but not offensively fragrant. And having dogs has made that relatively hard so I was stoked to see if the Aera could be the answer.
First, love the clean and sleek design (packaging was also amazing, and I’m a sucker for that). The scent is distributed well without being too overly concentrated in the area closest to the device (i.e. it doesn’t assault you when you get close to it like other air fresheners, it drifts throughout the space well). Love that the app shows us the current remaining juice in the scent canister things too.
Truly, the only reason I gave this 4 stars is because I’m bitter that I can’t afford to have one in every room. My husband (who was admittedly skeptical about this device) also said the humming was a little louder than he thought it should be, but it didn’t really bother me.
Would make a great gift! (I’d gladly accept another one from Santa, or any other willing gift giver.) I recommend the Moondance scent too, light and sweet but not syrupy or overly fruity. I can’t wait to try some of the other scents.
I really enjoy this slick little device. Growing up candles were verboten in our house, and even though I am free to use them now as an adult, I am not a fan of the smoke they produce. Aera gets rid of the worry of an open flame and smoke and replaces it with a very high end (and pricey) customizable fragrance solution. I wish the pods were cheaper but they are no more expensive than an upscale candle.
My home is about 1000 sq. feet and with one unit in the bedroom I can smell the scent upon opening the front door when returning home from work and having it on ahead of time for only a half hour.
I am glad I took the plunge and bought Aera. It was a pleasant surprise how nicely it works.

I'm so excited to have this diffuser. I'm totally obsessed with the scent the Four Seasons pumsp through the hotel lobby and reception--it smells like absolute bliss. I bought the Aera so that I can make my own home smell like a luxury five-star hotel vacation all the time! I'm actually really sensitive to smells, even to the point of being self-conscious. I worry about everything from my laundry detergent being too strong to guests being able to smell what I cooked for dinner the night before. It's the best that I can set the Aera and not have to worry anymore--my house is always going to smell like a fancy hotel. I just come home and walking into my house now has the same elegance as walking into the Four Seasons--all I need is a valet... and maybe room service. I love the design too. I go for a mid-century modern meets Scandinavian minimalism style for my house and this is such a beautifully designed piece that fits in with my aesthetic. Plus, it's a great addition to my collection of smart devices that make my home safer and tailored to my preferences. I just hope that the company keeps expanding the scents--is it too over the top that I want to have a scent for each season?
I don't normally post reviews, but Aera is an exceptional diffuser system that I feel worthy of praise. My ongoing challenge has been finding a solution to kitchen odors. My kitchen is located in the center of the main living area, with no windows in the kitchen for the flow of fresh air. Aera has solved that problem because I can easily control the strength of the Citrus fragrance, leaving the kitchen smelling fresh and clean. And also, as an added benefit, the surrounding rooms smell great too! The Aera unit is attractive, simple to operate, and compact enough to display anywhere in my kitchen. Now the only problem I have is deciding which delicious fragrance to try next. With Christmas around the corner, I think Winter Light may be a good choice.
I am in love with this air freshener! I have it in my bedroom at level 4 at my entire room smells amazing. No fake smells... I got Zephyr- super fresh and clean smelling. I love how quiet it is, and it blends perfectly in with my decor. Added bonus, you can set a timer from your phone. Which is handy since I travel so often, and always forget to turn it off, means less waste! 10/10 would recommend.
This is a truly great diffuser! It's small, beautiful and super effective. I went back and forth trying to decide if I should purchase the Aera based on some of the complaints in other reviews, but it's great! To address some of those comments... the scent is wonderful (I purchased the sandalwood) - it is noticable without being overpowering or in your face. Two good unsolicited reviews are that my father didn't notice a scent but said the house smelled fresh, whereas my husband walked in and said "Wow! It smells great in here!" (Also, we have puppies... So there is that factor)
As far as the noise that people mentioned, it isn't silent, but it definitely isn't loud... at all. It is more quiet than my humidifier, but it isn't silent like the Vitruvi. (I own two Vitruvi diffusers and I will be giving them away - I like the Area MUCH more - I bought two more... It's worth the money).
Oh! And the app is great!
I love the Area system . This is my second unit. The app allows me to set it exactly as I want( time, strength of fragrance, etc). The fragrances are not heavy. It is very quiet. You notice a nice scent but aren’t knocked over by it. I’m done with candles after having my rooms painted and seeing smoke rings around things I had taken off walls...I’m breathing that? yuck!
