This mattress is worth every penny. My daughter learned to roll over at started sleeping on her face (her face planted straight in the mattress)! It was terrifying and I couldn't sleep knowing she was doing that. As a healthcare worker, I know all too well the risks of unsafe sleep. I immediately looked around and came across the Newton mattress. Like other reviewers have said, we tried it out ourselves and you really can breathe comfortably with your face squished in the mattress. I am no longer losing sleep at night because of my crazy daughter's preferred sleeping position!
We love the Newton mattress. I'm tell any moms who will listen about it. I have had to wash the cover twice now, and it is a piece of cake to change out. Word of advice, wash alone because other item's with fuzz will stick to cover.
We used this mattress through baby's first year. The construction is very good and we felt it was absolutely the safest mattress. However the mattress cover is not soft, so we started to use a single layer muslin cotton sheet over it after a few months. This helped a lot and still seemed breathable. He was a side sleeper at 3 days old, and slept on his tummy as soon as he could turn, so this set up was very comforting to us.
The mattress cover does need to be washed separately otherwise lint from other items will gather on the inside of the weave, but it can go in the washing machine, which is great. It was very helpful to have the extra cover for backup.
Really high quality cover - be aware that there is now a new waterproof version that came out soon after we purchased this one.
We haven't used the extra cover that we purchased yet, but it's the same (except for color) as the one that came with it. There is a little snag & a wild string coming out of the original. We
Just put that side down to start with, but it seems dangerous. Also, there is a honeycomb texture to it. I know we aren't supposed to use a sheet yet, but the baby keeps waking up with the honeycomb patttern on her checks and arms. Other than that, it's a great product. I love knowing she's safe.

This mattress is firm, yet has give to it. Seems like it will be very comfortable. The cover that is on it is not pure white, more of a creamy white. It is a light enough mattress for one person to lift on his/her own. Seems very breathable.
Does not fit our Restoration Hardware crib like I would like. It's entirely too snug, forcing the edges to bend slightly. It's coverable with bumper pads for now, but when we put the baby in the crib and remove those, it'll be noticeable. I do like that it's breathable and didn't smell at all when we received. I'll update my post once the baby sleeps on it.
I really like this mattress. Even though its made from unique material it seems very comfortable. I feel like I bought the best I could for my baby and feel good about the investment.
High quality and breathable, which adds peace of mind for parents. Only wish the front of the cover didn’t have a the zipper and there were more color options as it looks kind of ugly/unfinished and you can’t put a sheet over it.
This mattress is amazing! The mattress is 100% breathable! You can press your face into the mattress as hard as you can and still breath. My husband is a stomach sleeper and we are worried that the baby will do the same thing. This really gives us peace of mind.
