What can I say? It does what it's designed to do and does it well considering it's size. It's quite the power saver using only a maximum of 850 watts which is less than the average hair dryer. It does have a high and low heat setting and according to my kill-a-watt, the low setting runs at about 500 watts. It does take a little longer than your average sized dryer but for those of us who don't have hookups or need something small due to space availability, it's an excellent choice.

It's definitely not big enough for more than a few shirts, couple towels/jeans, etc but it's a lot better than stringing lines around your house to hang dry clothing or having to rely on communal laundry equipment.

It's definitely a quiet unit and compliments the 0.9 cu.ft. Magic Chef washer I bought to go along with it quite nicely. The capacity of both units is close enough that a full load in the wash easily fits in this dryer. It's not speedy by any means, but the average load seems to dry within about 60-70 minutes if I start the timer at 200 minutes which is in the range of it's hottest setting. It fits the set of flannel sheets from my full size bed, and I would assume it would fit at least one sheet for a queen size if not both.

The product description does omit that it includes a 3"-4" adapter which I purchased separately and didn't need. This adapter allows you to connect a standard 4" dryer hose directly to the unit which has a 3" exhaust opening.

All in all, it's a great product that fits in the limited space I had available and now I can avoid having to worry about having quarters for laundry or having to wait for an available machine.

One thing to note is that this dryer does not have an end of cycle buzzer which for me is a great feature since I live in a studio apartment and the location I had available is against a shared wall with another tenant. Without laundry hookups I didn't want to bring attention to the fact that I have it.

The box I received the dryer in is a plain box with only the model printed on the front and rear, the box dimensions and weight. Inside the box there is another box for the dryer which does have both the model number which is the same printed on the exterior box as well as an outline imagine of the dryer and states "Compact Dryer". This made it very easy to bring in without bringing attention to what I actually had.

All in all this is a great unit that seems to work well.

I’m not the one to write reviews but this little dryer is amazing, it get really hot and I can tested it out by drying 5 big towels at once and they dried with no problem. It also have a lint catcher in the back of it. It’s very quiet and nobody knows it’s even on.. I would definitely recommend this product

Just thought I'd share the comparison in sizes for the Magic Chef 0.9 washer and the Magic Chef 1.5 and 2.6 cu. ft. dryers.

Very small but turns out it’s just what I need. I live in an expensive city and have managed to find a great little two bedroom for a great price. However it has no laundry room or laundry facilities. A friend let me use her small portable washing machine and I bought this dryer. It fits perfectly in a utility closet and really works great. I haven’t even had to let it have a full run because everything dries quickly. Very great purchase. :)

Unit came with a broken door. Hinge made from pot metal, and pins were sheared. Extremely disappointed, this was a Christmas Present. Will edit review if replacement is better.

Edit. Company replacement door, no charge. Easy to install. 1 year later it's doing fine

Description

The Magic Chef 1.5 cu. ft. compact electric dryer is just what you need when you have small laundry loads and do not have tons of space for a laundry setup. Its compact, space-saving design makes it perfect for apartments, dorms or even RVs. For added convenience, you can mount it on the wall or place it on your countertop. It uses a standard 110-Volt (120 VAC, 15 Amp) outlet, eliminating the need for special wiring that is required with many other dryers. Two heat levels plus Air Dry provide options for proper fabric care. Four timer settings offer versatile drying options.

Takes a while to dry a full load from my Magic Chef .9cu ft washer I got from Home Depot, about 70min when dialed up to the highest setring. It does do the job very well though and works great in my NYC closet - ahem - apartment. Have had it for over a month now with no issues. I did buy a vent kit and bootlegged a rig to the window (Lambro 480l bathroom fan wall vent kit), the vent kit has flaps which close automatically when no hot air is coming out, so when I dont use the dryer indent get drafts coming in. It's important to vent this outside especially if you live in a high humidity locale like NYC. The window vent kit was like $10 on Amazon so just spring for it. Really glad I dont have to go to the laundromat to do my work clothes anymore.

Now that it's working properly, it's pretty awesome. I live in an apartment with no hookups, and the nearest laundromats all charge three dollars a load and hold just as much as this little guy holds. It didn't spin when I first got it. Opening up the back, I found the drive belt had come off the drum. Easy fix. Looking inside, this thing is also very home repair friendly. Which means it's shelf life is nearly infinite. Huge point in it's favor. Only reason I left off a star is for having to open it up and fix it before using it.

I live alone in an apartment without a 220 line and I'm not about to use the disgusting laundry room thanks to a few gross tenants. I have a full size washing machine already and was researching a mini 110 volt clothes dryer for about a year before committing to my Magic Chef unit. I've been so happy with this little dryer I'm telling people at work about it. I'm amazed that it gets warm enough to produce steam within 10 minutes when I vent it out the window on a cold day. I was always under the impression that these 110 units don't get warm enough and it takes forever to dry a load of clothes. I cut a hole in a 9" wide pine board, painted the board white and trimmed the length so I'd be able to wedge it in the track of my sliding window top to bottom. After attaching one of those louvered vents through the board with four screws and attaching the foil vent hose to the other side with a hose clamp I was in business. I did a load of about 30 white socks and they dried in about 40 minutes on the high setting. I normally hang dry my clothes and they dry in no time but on occasion I would need something dried quickly and it's great to know I now have that option . I prefer my socks, underwear and bath towels to be machine dried, anyway. I initially thought I should have purchased a larger unit until I realized I really don't have the space for it. Right now I have the dryer under a table in the living room. I had to unscrew the feet so the dryer fit under the table but it really works. The dryer is level and whisper quiet. Cleaning the lint filters is easy but I wish they would have skipped the fabric filter and just gone with two nylon screens. I avoid using fabric softener sheets as the manual states not to. Liquid fabric softener in the wash is fine. Some folks complain that clothes come out wrinkled. You have to remember the drum size on this thing is tiny so clothes don't tumble around like they would in a much larger drum. Mine don't seem to come out wrinkled. Maybe I don't put in as many articles of clothing per load like those folks. Anyway, this has to be one of the best purchases I've made in a while. I'm delighted at how well this Magic Chef Mini Clothes Dryer works. Oh yeah, I would have preferred a clear window instead of tinted window so I can see my clothes tumbling around. Maybe Magic Chef will offer that upgrade since the window just screws on. Otherwise, a great product!

The common issue with this dryer is that the drum will not spin right out of the box. The solution is to take off the back cover and reset the black belt on the drum just like a bike chain on the gears. It’s annoying that one should have to do this but any person who is semi handy and has a screwdriver can do it. I live on a 3rd floor apartment that I’m not planning on staying in for more than a year so a full size dryer was not an option. I have paired this with a giantex washer and it has served my 3 roommates an I without fail for 6 months 3 loads a day 4-5 times a week. Paid for itself in comparison to the laundromats.

I have a portable washer and spin dryer. I thought this would work well. So glad I got it!!! At first I wasn't sure how to clean the filter but I started using an old toothbrush and it does the trick. It makes a world of difference in dry time. I usually set mine to 140 minutes on high heat and turn it off at the 45-50 minute mark. That is really all that it takes. I can fit my queen sheet set in one load (pillow cases included) and in the next I put in my quilt. It does surprisingly well. I think the spin dryer makes the biggest difference in the actual dryer's dry time. I don't think I've ever had a load that took more than 60 minutes.
