I received this cover yesterday and read my Oasis with it on for several hours last night. As exepcted, the wake/sleep function worked perfectly. I was surprised at how lightweight it is: at 111 grams it is actually 8 grams lighter that the first official Amazon case that was discontinued. Unlike that first case it fully covers the back of the Oasis. When open, it folds completely around the back of the reader, making it much easier to hold the Oasis even while lying in bed. My favorite way to hold it while reading is with the Oasis lightly resting in my palm, with my thumb in front near the buttons so I can easily change pages, my index finger between the two covers, and the other three fingers resting on the back cover. It works great whether I'm holding my Oasis in my right hand or left. Those readers who prefer to use the Oasis without a cover will be pleased to know that it can easily be removed from this cover (unlike the Paperwhite and its official cover). Personally, I found the metal back of the Oasis cold and difficult to hold while lying down so I've been forced to rely on third-party covers up until now but have ultimately been disappoined in their defects or lack of durability. I only wish Amazon had released this cover last year; it would have saved me quite a bit of money I ended up spending on subpar alternatives!
I love my new cover. I love that the whole Oasis is protected and it can’t fall out. It’s very comfortable to hold, and I don’t miss feeling the cold metal back now that the weather is turning wintry. I have the gold Oasis, so I’m pleased I can still see the gold along the top and bottom cut outs, and around the screen edge.
I had the original blue water safe cover, and that was scratchy, but this one feels quite a bit nicer, and I love the nice bright red color. I also had the original brown leather cover, which was pretty nice, but my Oasis did fall out of it and dropped four feet to the floor, so I never felt very safe using that cover after that happened.
This one is perfect for me. I have used it while reading in the bath, and it was good to be able to place my Oasis on the side of the bath and know that it was safe in its cover. I used to read in the bath when I used the leather cover, but would have to use the device bare, therefore slippy, and I would always be worried about it slipping onto the floor and breaking.
It’s also much more comfortable reading in bed with this cover. Easy to cradle in the hand or rest on its side. I don’t feel the need to take the Oasis out of this cover at all, which surprises me.
This cover has really transformed my use of the Oasis.
I just bought my second Kindle and so this is my second Kindle cover. (Obviously, I am not someone who likes change!) My previous Kindle had a lovely leather cover that I visually and tactilely admired every time I picked it up, so I was sure I wanted leather for this one also, initially. However, besides the price difference giving me pause, I realized that since my Kindle was waterproof, my cover should be. So far I have not regretted this choice. This cover is hard and rough, but when folded back, as you read, it has a smooth, soft feel. The roughness does gather lint in a purse, but it is fairly easily brushed off and the cover is attractive otherwise. I got the charcoal which is smart and professional looking to my eye. I love the magnetic closure and the way the Kindle "wakes" when it is opened. I thought my reading-in-the-tub days were over years ago when I started needing reading glasses that steamed up (not to mention, I ruined a lot of books), but with my new waterproof Kindle set, I discovered that I can increase the font size and have that old pleasure back. What an unexpected benefit!
This case is Awesome! It feels great in the hand, and looks very cool. The texture is a great balance of soft and rough. It’s not intrusive. Even though it is a fabric case, it looks and feels premium. Very happy I decided to purchase this over the leather case. What I love the most is how skinny the cover is and how minimal the entire case is. It doesn’t add any bulk! I find reading with this case is much more comfortable than reading without it, especially in bed or when laying on a couch or other furniture. Get this case! It’s a must have accessory for every kindle Oasis owner.
(Accidentally uploaded same picture twice but for some reason amazon won’t let me delete it)
I upgraded to the oasis from a 2nd gen paperwhite. I never got use to the way the oasis felt in my hand so I went back to the paperwhite. On a whim I decided to look for a different cover and discovered Amazon had finally released a new oasis cover. Its really nice! Lighter than the first Amazon oasis cover and doesn't use the goofy magnet to hold it on. I really like that it completely covers the metal back of the oasis, makes it a lot more comfortable to hold! Its a really nice product and the punch red is beautiful! If you're like me and they oasis has always felt a little awkward, this is the cover to get. The only thing I miss is the origami fold so it will stand on its own for table reading.

Description
I was torn between the fabric and leather versions of the "official" Amazon covers for the new Kindle Oasis. Originally, I wasn't going to use a cover, but found the aluminum body of the Oasis to be too slippery to hold for any long period of time. I chose the fabric cover in the hopes it would provide more friction for holding it with one hand. I'm pleased to report that fabric cover solves my problem. Although I thought the black leather cover would be better looking than fabric, I'm very happy with the high quality look of the fabric cover. The charcoal black is actually a bit darker than depicted, making it look even better than I expected. I highly recommend this cover to anyone looking for some protection for their new Oasis, in addition to improving the ability to hold it with one hand while reading.
Very pleased with this case! Aside from the perfect fit (which you would expect since Amazon manufactured it for it's own device!), I really like the look and feel! The cloth texture actually feels kind of sturdy - but very comfortable to hold, and different than any other case I have owned. The magnet holding it closed, keeps it closed - until I raise it.
I thought the "bump" on the back could make this awkward to hold with a case on it, but because the cover is not soft AND the magnet on the back holds it place, it creates a "solid" back that is actually quite easy to hold. I just hope it lasts for as many years as I hope to own this Kindle!
Love it! Looks good, hugs the Kindle, resists wear, doesn’t add much weight, and it doesn’t fall off like the prior versions!
I recently purchased a new Oasis e-reader and realized after about a week I really needed to get a cover. Don't get me wrong, it's a great reader but I felt it was a little too slippery with the all aluminum case. I also wanted to protect it because it just seemed a little too fragile having it lay around with no protective cover. An additional feature would be the fact it would turn off automatically when I closed the cover rather than having to manually push the on/off button without one. One of the main reasons I upgraded to the Oasis is the fact that it is water proof. I love reading out in the pool during the warm summer months and was always nervous about dropping my 2nd generation paper white in the drink. When Kindle came out with waterproof versions I knew this was the way to go. So my cover had to be waterproof as well which narrowed my choices. After reading several reviews it just seemed to me the safest bet was to stick with the Amazon brand so I ordered the water-safe fabric cover in charcoal black. I can honestly say this cover was exactly what I was hoping it would be. It fits the Oasis perfectly without adding much weight or bulk. It improves the grip tremendously and is very easy to hold. I like the fact that now all I have to do is close the cover to turn the Oasis off and best of all it looks amazing. The front is very easy to open and close and the reader is still very light weight with no arm fatigue even after hours of reading. It is designed to fit the outline of the Oasis perfectly thus maintaining the ergonomics of the reader itself. I cannot recommend this particular cover highly enough. It has met and exceeded all of my expectations and is worth the few extra dollars over any other brand.
It may sound weird to say this is my new favorite cover - it’s awesome! I absolutely adore my Kindle Oasis — I have had a Kindle since they were launched. I honestly don’t think I could go a day without one now. I know, I know… It’s an electronic gadget…
I have tried many many many covers. I think this is the best one yet!
For my Oasis - I originally got the leather cover. ( regular… Not premium ) I love the feel of that case… Sure, it develops scratches bumps and looked worn very quickly.. I expected that. But then the dye of the leather actually started bleeding onto my fingers/things in my purse etc. It had never been wet. I took care of it. After it just looked horrible I wanted to try something else… I went for the blue case. I have not regretted it since I got it. I love the feel of it! I love that you can fold the front cover back and it really doesn’t add any more book to the Kindle at all.
Hey sleep/wake feature is perfect.. Never had a problem. The feel of the case in your hand is very lightweight and doesn’t add bulk. I prefer this case because I never really liked holding onto the metal of the back of the Kindle. After almost slipping and dropping it one day… That was enough to scare me. Plus, it got to the point where I would just pull off the leather case while reading. Not with this case, though! It is easy to takeoff… But I’m not interested in that. Everyone has different ways of holding Kindle depending on their preference. Honestly, I open mine and hold it like a book. Sometimes I fold the cover back - just as easy to hold.
I picked up the blue version and line it almost looks like denim- which I love! It was a hard decision between the red or the blue.
If you have the leather cover and want to try something different… Give this a chance! I feel like my Oasis is much much more protected.
