I live in an apartment with no hookups. This thing has been a time saver! I use to hang dry my clothes but wanted a quicker way to dry and help get rid of the lint build up. Great to do laundry at night and have clothes dried before I sleep! I will update the review if anything changes.
I will give one tip I have learned:
After about 3 years or so I started noticing a rattle sound that kept getting louder. Eventually it was too loud to use the machine. I opening the back to see if I could notice anything and saw that a screw had come loose(perhaps from vibration). There is a straight metal bar along the back that the motor/everything kind of hooks to. Toward the bottom of it is where the screws came loose. I tightened everything and reinserted the screws. The sound was completely gone and everything worked 100% again.
Item arrived as described and performs well. Purchased item because I needed a dryer that did not require a window or output for the exhaust,
the dryer is perfect for an apartment. Dryer performs as it should, dries clothes with heat and cool air. The lent vent is easy to remove and clean.
I read the reviews before I purchased this product and don't understand why it does not have more 5 star reviews. Dryer performs well for what it was created for.
Great so far! Some of the reviews kind of scared me. One day in working great clothes dry reasonably fast and lint trap and filter work fantastic. Have dried a massive backlog of clothes been running it non stop for 2 days. It comfortably fits 2 pairs of jeans and a couple shirts and takes about an hour and a half. I'm a size 40 with XL shirts.
Waited for a good price on this and finally got it. LOVE IT! No more being dictated by the complex's pay washer/dryer!
If you have a portable washer, (I have the Haier HLP23E 1.5 cu.ft.) this dryer is a cheap match. Delivered to my door in 2 days. (Avanti is in Miami, and I'm in Fort Lauderdale.) A full load from my portable washer fits in this dryer, and dries in about 90 minutes. (Keep in mind, I'm in FL, my wardrobe consists of denim and cotton shorts, polos, and t-shirts.) The largest thing I fit in here was my California King sheet set. (top sheet, sheet, and 4 pillow cases) It really hasn't made a notable dent in my electric bill either. I may invest in a centrifugal spin-dryer, just for faster drying times. (Spin dry on portable washers is somewhat "weak", I do my clothes twice!)
Small enough to be wall mounted! (hardware included!) I have mine on a shelf in front of a window for venting outside without any venting hardware. You really wanna vent this out the window if you live in a small apartment! Tried closing it off in the bathroom, and it was even too humid for the bathroom!
This is PERFECT for a single guy with a portable washer.
Materials and construction seem to be "good". The lint filter is awkward, but you get used to it. Pretty much sounds like a hair dryer.
My favorite purchase this year! Thanks Amazon!
When I first bought this I was disappointed because it did not work. By the time I figured it out, the time to return it was over. I called Avanti. They quickly scheduled me a service call with a local technician. He told me that the drum and something had to be replaced and that he would contact Avanti. The same day I received a call from Avanti and they replaced the entire dryer, no questions asked. This is the kind of customer service that results n buyer loyalty.
The dryer works great and drys clothes in a decent amount of time. I dried a small normal size load in about 50 min.
I have now had this for several months and it's great. It's in my bedroom, with a nylon being used as the vent. My clothes dry just fine.

Description
24 Inch Portable Electric Dryer
After Hurricane Sandy, we were out of power for at least 10 days (we still are as I write this). Last year, after Irene, we were down for 5 days. Usually, once we go out in a storm, it's at least a two-day ordeal. We are fortunate to have a 12kw generator that we bit the bullet and installed about 6 years ago. After allowing for heat, lighting, refrigerator -- the essentials -- we can use one or two discretionary 1500-watt appliances at a time with it (clothes washer, dishwasher, toaster, "5th burner", etc.), so with some organizing we can approximate normal living. The one thing we couldn't do was dry clothes, as the typical electric dryer has a 5500-watt heating element and uses more than one-half of the max capacity of our generator just to run. On short outages, not doing laundry wasn't an issue. On the longer ones, we were stringing clothes lines up around the house and hanging stuff to dry -- effective, but not optimal. And it didn't seem worth the significant extra capital (and operating) expense of a bigger generator just so we could dry clothes. On about the fourth day of no power, with predictions of two weeks or more that we would be out, I got online on my cell phone to see if there was in fact a 120-volt clothes dryer. I was pleasantly-surprised to find that this item even existed, and happier yet that I could order it from Amazon with Prime overnight delivery. WOW! I didn't expect much, and this certainly isn't going to replace our regular dryer, but it makes a huge difference in quality of life when you are hunkered down after a storm. Almost made me forget about the gas lines! For a small-to-medium load in the washer, this can dry that in less than an hour. I just stood it on top of the old dryer, slipped on the exhaust-aimer-thingy pointing upwards, and fired it up. The laundry room does get a little moist, but nothing bad, and it's easy to clean the lint filters. Again, it's not so robust a product that I would use it for a regular big Laundry Day every week, but it does a very fine job on the small-to-medium loads that we're doing after the storm. For this price, it's a no-brainer.
This dryer is lightweight and easy to move around if you need. I had to buy a round 4" FLEXIBLE vent hose ($10) from Lowe's with a clamp so I could vent it out the window. The vent hose doesn't get too terribly hot- you can put your hand on it. You can choose not to vent it and if you only use the cool setting it won't heat up the room. However it will take forever for your cottons/heavy jeans to dry on the cool setting. I can fit into this dryer the following: 2 pair size 6 jeans- 45 mins drying time. 1 towel- 25 mins approx. 6 medium cotton t shirts- 25 mins lightweight air dryable items. 20 mins on cool setting. You must clean out the lint filter after each load. There is a screen part which is easy to clean, and a round disc felt-material type filter that I was cleaning with sticky tape. You can alternately vacuum it. I'm going to try cleaning it with a lint brush also. If you don't 220v hookup and you detest going to the Laundromat, you will love this machine. I haven't gotten the electric bill yet.
It didn't come with filters but that is ok because this little dryer works! It takes about an hour if it is full to dry my clothes. Just plug it in and go. It is small so you can squeeze it in anywhere. I'm glad I got it with the sonya washer. This little gem will keep me off the concrete laundry room stairs with all the snow and ice this winter.
Much better than going to the laundry mat. Get one, you will be glad you did.
i had a stackable washer and dryer when they first came out in the early 90's-i moved across the usa and had to sell it-went back to the side by side but i always missed the convience of what that stackable could do in a small space of a home-so i moved to the front loaders-but i soon tired of the room these two machines took up so i went online for a new stackable unit when i came across this portable dryer-the price was a little high-the point is i can put this dryer on top of my washer and have me a stackable for a fraction of the cost of a big new model-this is also the first dryer that i did not have to buy an electric power cord and have someone install it-it is worth the money-does a great job of drying your clothes-i'll never go back to those 220 dryers...marjorie
I bought this dryer for a summer condo, that has very little extra space. So far, it has worked just fine. It holds more than you would expect. It does take longer to dry a load, because it runs on 110volts. But I haven't found that to be a problem. It's small and light weight enough, that it can be moved around if needed. I haven't found cleaning the filters to be a problem. (I have it up on a stand, so the door is almost eye level, which helps). I would recommend it to anyone who has limited space and/or no 220 plug. My only exception would be a family that has many loads of heavy clothes.
