Worked as soon as I plugged the vga monitor into the adapter connected to my Fire HDX 8.9 tablet. No configuration needed.
Fire tablet 6" HD to VGA. Purchased as back-up to HDMI adapter as I am afraid I will not be able to obtain it in the future. I can tell you that it works perfectly. Using on a 4th generation tablet. It will not work on the newer 5th gen type like the budget 7"

I was able to connect to the classroom projector with my 6" kindle and work math problems. Nice.
Wrong item for me
Works exactly how I was hoping it would. Now I can watch Netflix through an older projector for movie night outside.
