I recently purchased an Amazon Kindle Fire 10. My phone has little storage and I wanted something portable that would take video and pictures I could then upload easily to my computer. The Fire works well for that purpose, but I got tired of transporting the charging cord from room to room. I charge my Kindle Fire in my bedroom where I use it most, but my computer is in our office. I also like having a back up cable on hand in case something happens to the original. So I purchased the Amazon Kindle Fire 5 ft. USB to Micro-USB Cable to keep in the office.
This is a high quality cable that works well for transferring pictures and video to my computer. I leave it plugged into my computer at all times and then just plug in the Kindle Fire when I need to transfer content. The cable feels sturdy, albeit a bit stiff, and I expect it to last a long time. It is 5 feet long, which is nice because I can use and maneuver my Kindle Fire while it is plugged into my computer. The black plastic construction matches the look and feel of my Kindle Fire in its black case. I was glad to find a cable manufactured specifically for my Kindle Fire because that gives me the confidence to know I shouldn’t have any compatibility issues that might shorten the life of my Kindle Fire Battery. I have purchased many name brand cables before and they are often expensive. This cable was half the price of other name brand cables at the time I purchased it which I believe was a good value. I am glad I own it.
After sometime I started having issues with the usb cable that came with my Kindle Fire HD 2012 model. It would stay at 1-2% charge even after hours of having it plugged in which was just a little slower than the 12 hour charging time it usually took to get it to full battery. I always just used the usb port on my computer to charge my device and after a few times of wanting to use my Kindle, but being unable to because it was dead from no charge, I decided to contact Amazon after seeing a review stating that they had a similar issue.
Amazon replaced the cord and included the 9W PowerFast adapter that they recommended would solve my charging issue. I did not have experience with an adapter because I only used my usb ports but I received it 2 days later and used both products together the moment it arrived. I left my kindle alone and waited to see if it would charge. Within a few hours it was at FULL power. This is literally the fastest I've ever had it charge the entire time I've owned it.
If you have any issues with your cable I would suggest replacing it with the one on this listing and in addition getting the 9W PowerFast adapter as it is the most convenient accessory I own for my Kindle. I'm really disappointed that I went so long not using my Kindle just because of the charging issue when it was such a simple fix. I will update this review when my Kindle is dead and charge it ONLY using the 5ft USB Micro cable to time how long it takes using my computers usb port to give more information for those not wanting to purchase the adopter.
This is a top quality cable and the length is great. Our other cables always seem to bend and break right at the end that goes into our cables. I'm not saying this won't happen with this cable, but I doubt it will happen very soon. It fits all 4 of our kindles from 4 different generations. As usual Prime delivery was much appreciated.
Works well with all Kindle models, either as a computer cord or charging cord. My original Kindle came with a charger and cord. The new editions don't. They come with a cord like this - but my mom's got thrown away with the box. This is a perfect replacement.
This is the best micro usb cable that I have ever used, so I am happy I was able to purchase more before they possibly have been sold out for good. All micro usb cables have little prongs / spring tabs which hold the cable in place when it is plugged into your device. But these cables had ones on both the top and bottom of the micro connector which always gave a solid connection. I use these cable over any other one that I've received with an electronic device because of the secure connection. With normal / cheap cables, if you move the device and the connection point flexes a little if may disconnect from the device temporarily; not only is this annoying but it can do damage to the female connector in your device.

The Fire has a very short charging cable. It is probably about 18" to 24" I estimate! This 5' cable allows a comfort distance from the power socket to the Fire! Note by power socket I mean the Mains! Here in the US we just call is the wall plugin or some variation of the complex language of American English! I guess we in the various regions of the US should get together with Britain, Whales, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and come up with a common pronunciation of English. Here in the US there is a great variation of pronounciation. While in the US Army, a buddy was going on god duty! It was Friday! We did not have Church Formation until Sunday! I was confused, so asked him what he was doing in his guard uniform. He again said he was going on god duty? It took awhile before my befuddled brain finally understood! My friend was from Boston, and he was saying "I am going on guard duty!" So, you see, even here in the USA we should get together and agree on what words to use! I am sure you needed all of that for a simple review that took only one or two sentences! Well, what does a little levity hurt one's day!
Love this cable so far. It charges very fast and charges while using. It charges faster (or as fast in one or two instances) than pretty much everything else I've bought since I got the Kindle Fire. The ends fit snuggly into the cable itself - sometimes they wobble a bit and they fit securely into the device and charger without any wiggling or adjusting. The original cord that came with the Kindle Fire lasted a long time. This one says in the description that it's a replacement for that, so hopefully this one will last a long time too.
The length on this is great, it's long enough for any of the charging areas in each room, but not so long as to get tangled. I've got a special tag on this to "do not remove" from the high speed charger for the Kindle. I love my SO, but he borrows chargers and cables at an astonishing rate,never to be given back even when I request -especially if he likes them. He ran off with 4 chargers and twice as many cables last month, that he still carries around in his backpack. Then he gripes if one isn't available at home in a power strip. Anyway, this one is working great so far, I'll post an update if it conks out quickly. It's a sturdy yet still flexible cord that I'm very happy with so far.
I bought this for my Kindle Fire HDX 7" tablet - I don't know anything about "generations", but my tablet was purchased new in 2014, if that helps. I was initially disappointed, because it didn't seem to want to insert. After some manipulation, I discovered that it does go in, but at a slight angle. There is a clear "click" when it hits home, then it charges just fine. The connection is very firm. Some cords I've bought in the past would pull out so easily that my cats disconnected them by batting the cable . One cord had to be manually held in place to work at all. This one takes a firm tug to disconnect. I am trying to remember to pull it out at the same angle it goes in, though, so I don't damage it.
The longer cord is important to me because I spend way too much time sitting on my duff playing tower defense games, which seem to suck up a lot of battery power. I find it's best to stay connected while I play - nothing worse than getting that "connect to a charger" warning in the middle of an intense battle! This one does the job. Six feet would have been better, but I knew this was only five feet when I bought it, so I'm not taking away a star for that.
All in all, a good purchase . I'm just a bit put off by having it insert at an angle - I'll update if there are any related problems in the future.
I originally bought this cord as my third replacement cord for my kindle device. I have a notoriously bad habit of not taking as good of care with my cords as I should (seeing as my previous two cords both died from water damage WHILE plugged in). I have now had this cord for over a year, which speaks well both for its durability as well as my apparent ability to learn my lesson. It also has many features that have now spoiled me whenever I find myself using a different cord.
For example, the outer coating of the cord has a unique rubber coating that manages to keep the cord from tangling with itself. At first I was worried that the rubber would attract all sorts of hair and dirt, seeing as many rubber products with this kind of grip do, but I was pleasantly surprised. And, it feels distinctly different than any of my other cords, which is helpful when I'm trying to plug my tablet in at night without turning the light on and waking my husband. In addition, one can not simply ignore that this cord is, in fact, five feet in length. I find this very useful, especially when I am using my kindle in bed, as the nearest outlet is further away than the typical cord allows for.
Needless to say, I have been very impressed with this charger cord. Should I find myself eventually killing the current cord I have, I will most definitely make sure to buy this one again.
I bought this for myself because i play my kindle long periods of time and now i can play while it is charging wouldn't be without it i can sit on my favorite chair and cord still reaches as it did not before.
