All-New Kindle Paperwhite Leather Cover (10th Generation-2018), Indigo Purple

I always love the Leather Covers for the kindle paperwhite. They are really nice, but I do feel like they are overpriced. They should only be half the price they charge you for them. The only reason I pay the price is because I REALLY like the cases.

With the new kindle paperwhite I have to say I hated the color choices this time. There was barely any colors to choose from. I wish they would've had a pink or actual purple color. I decided to go with Cobalt Purple and I was VERY DISAPPOINTED when I got the case as the color is actually cobalt blue, not purple. So do be aware if you get purple, you're actually getting blue. It is still a very nice color. I would've either went with the black or this blue.

New features to this cover included a magnetic back when you fold the cover and the nice microfiber cloth on the inside to protect your kindle against scratches which is a very nice touch. Overall, I do recommend this cover for your kindle if you don't mind throwing out $40 for it.

Because I love cobalt blue I am a fan of having a piece of cobalt blue in each room. In this picture, I've put it next o a piece of true cobalt blue glassware. I would say that while it may not be exactly cobalt blue, it is definitely cobalt blue-esque. If you're expecting purple, you'll probably be disappointed but if you're expecting blue you'll probably like the color.

I've only had it a couple of days, but it appears to be sturdy. It's not 100% reliable in awakening the kindle when I open it but it's as reliable as most other cases I've had.

As far as standing it up to read, it's not very functional in my opinion. I so wish that Amazon would make these case in "origami" style but unfortunately there were none of that style in the marketplace so I settled for this. If it had that feature, it would certainly be a 5 star cover in my mind. While this is a pretty leather case that was quite expensive, sadly I will retire it for a cheapo vinyl origami case as soon as someone makes one so that I can read when I eat and at the pool edge. If they made leather AND origami style, i wouldn't buy any other case. So don't expect purple and expect to kind of balance and prop the case open to read with it standing. It's still a very nice cover.

I purchased the Merlot cover. It is a nice dark burgundy/crimson, almost brown color. The Paperwhite fits snuggly and securely inside the bottom portion of the case. It has a nice texture and the front cover folds back. The front cover secures to the back with a magnet. The Paperwhite has not fallen out of it, even after shaking it with the cover open. The inside top cover is very soft and comfortable. Reading with the top cover folded back is a breeze. The case and Paperwhite are so light it is no problem reading with just one hand and using my thumb to change pages. I own several Kindle ereaders including the Oasis 1 and 2, Paperwhite 2, as well as the Voyage. I have cases for all of them. This a better cover than the Oasis 1 and 2. This cover is very nice, comfortable to hold while reading and I recommend it!

I decided on the Cobalt Purple cover - the description is now showing as Indigo Purple. Other reviewers have described it as navy, cornflower blue, or just simply blue. I think the actual color is very hard to describe in words. For one thing, the color looks very different in different lighting. When I first opened the box, I also thought it looked navy, but in brighter lighting, it looked lavender. I would also describe it as a slate blue. On my iPad, the website photo looks like a deep rich purple, more blue than red. In reality, the color seems much more subdued to me. For the previous Paperwhite, I bought the navy leather cover, and I would have bought that again if Amazon offered it, so I'm fine with the fact that the purple cover looks almost blue. (Next to the prior navy cover, though, it looks more purple.)

I took off one star because, as some others have mentioned here, this cover is not as nice as the previous leather covers. The edges of the cover are rough feeling rather than smooth, and the rubbery edge is now hard plastic, and does not feel as nice in the hand. The silver clip has also been removed. I've had no problems with the functioning, though.

Decent cover. Magnet works well for turning the kindle off and on. Stays open well, stays closed well. Protects the kindle. I've noticed that several times while holding the kindle or even resting it on a surface, the power button inadvertently gets pressed. i feel like previous cases protected against that better. Or maybe it's a flaw in the new Paperwhite design itself.

I'm really waiting for an origami case that fits the new Paperwhite. So I bought this as protection until those come out. As such, a bit overpriced, but whatever.

Description

If you are expecting a purple cover - it is blue.
It works great, just not the color I had my heart set on.

I've purchased third party covers for previous Kindles that have been efficient, but I purchased the Amazon cover for my last one a couple of years after using the third party one. Amazon's covers are definitely a nicer quality. Both times purchasing the Amazon covers I have purchased used ones and you can't even tell they're not brand new.
This cover for the 10th Generation offers a very seamless protection. I got the Merlot cover, and as others have said, it's not really a burgundy color. It's more of a brown, with a hint of red. I find it quite lovely. I also like how on this model of cover, when folded over, the cover is magnetic and attaches to the back of the cover, so there's no "flapping". It's a small improvement from my previous Amazon cover, but is really a nice feature. Great design, Amazon!

This my first Kindle, so I may not be a good reference for a review because I have no prior basis of comparison. However, I can say that having this Kindle has made me to want to read even more. I love how lightweight it is and how it fits nicely in my purse. I can take it everywhere I go, and when I have downtime, instead of wasting my time on social media, I can read a book instead. Surely, I could have accessed the Kindle app on my phone all this time, but I found that caused a lot of eye strain. I love how the Kindle Paperwhite has adjustable light settings, even can invert to white text on black screen if you want. It is very comfortable to read for my eyes as well as my neck and shoulders. Some physical books can get heavy after a while, and the Kindle is so light that it doesn't pull on my arms and shoulders as much. If that makes sense to anyone. All and all, the Kindle Paperwhite is light and comfortable for reading, and the convenience and accessibility to thousands of books is amazing. I love it! So far it is working really well. I've only had it a couple days and have read a book and a half, and my batter is still at 75% without charging since the first charge. Like I said, I'm a first time Kindle user, and I'm very happy with this product - I just can't compare it to other kindles or e-readers.

I gifted myself a Kindle after years of hoarding free books on my Amazon account. It took so long because I was using the Kindle app on my iPad and would get frustrated because the device would go into sleep mode just as I was ready to move to the next page. I also love the feel of a book. So happy I finally invested in this Kindle. I primarily use it on public transport or when I am traveling for business because it is lightweight. The best part is that I never find myself halfway through a trip without a book because I did not pack enough with me. And it weighs nothing and takes up no space in my bag.

this is slightly smaller than the prior generation.
I have yet to try the wireless headphone option for audible books but I bet it works great.
I think it starts slightly slower myself.
I do miss the bars on the sides to change page.
I am now getting the 3G and it is so handy in an odd place like an airport or even out of country (limited downloading) to get the next book.
I am sure that in a few years there will be a new generation and the line of people waiting for my old one never stops.
Without Kindle I might read a few books per year, now it is closer to a few books a month.
Darn, prime and there free books and my authors keep on churning out my read next installments.
It is hard to go back to my print books and I have a lot from the last 40 years to catch up on.
