This product is a wonderful idea, but needs significant refinement before it will be seriously useful. First, I spent a while learning the keyboard, which was pretty neat. The design and placement of most of the keys was pretty easy to pick up. But things started getting wonky the moment I tried to type more than a dozen words a minute - not that I didn't know which fingers to tap, but Tap would regularly mis-read my taps as other characters. Particularly when the tap requires two fingers, such as the middle finger and pinky to type "z" would often also register the ring finger as tapped as well (in fact, typing those two fingers by themselves is a challenge all of its own that took time to overcome).

Right now, all keys are based on a series of taps. A space, one of the letters you type the most, requires tapping all five fingers - and if any one of them doesn't register, you don't get a space. It also isn't integrated in any way with good quality autocompletion or swiping technology - meaning typing on a screen is still far more efficient if you're going for speed, and it's incredibly easy to mess up with this.

Really, what this needs is GESTURES. More difficult taps or multi-taps should be converted to swipes. Imagine, swipe four fingers downwards for a space, swipe your middle finger up for a period, squeeze your index finger and thumb together for the enter key. Right now the limitation of this device only reading taps is it's biggest weakness, because emulating an entire keyboard with a series of currently-poorly read taps does not give you any speed to work with.

Would probably be useful for games designed specifically with this device in mind.

The Tap Strap is a fantastic product! It’s very important to know that it takes patience, practice and time before you will be able to use this product effectively! The Tap Apps make it easy to learn the new “Tap Alphabet”. I am not giving it a five stars review because the mouse function doesn’t work very well. I hope that a future firmware update will improve this function.

This is perfect. with this I am able to save time and since it works on So many devices it is extremely convenient and with the apps to help you learn everything about it, it didn't take anywhere near along as I thought it would to get the hang of it. I have to Say, this was worth every pennie I spent on it.

My 10 year old son had to have this, he loves it- he figured out how to link it to our smart tv, Apple TV, iPads, Samsung tablet, chrome books and his iPhone...if he can figure it out- then it is definitely a good product!

This is great to play with if you like to have alternatives for typing. It is a good next step in advancement of alternative keyboarding. Be aware there is a learning curve that makes you feel like you have to learn how to type again.

This thing is incredible. I was a little iffy about purchasing it because of the price but I am extremely happy I made the purchase. First I have to say that the build quality is definitely first class. Its extremely well made and seems like it'll last. It definitely shows the hard work and care put into its design. To be honest I don't think I'd change anything on its design. It's actually quite impressively made considering what it can do with such a small form factor and its accuracy. Learning to use it actually is fun. Definitely not what you'd expect when being told your learning to use a new keyboard. It does take some effort to figure out how hard to tap and use each keypress but with a little time and effort it can easily be figured out. It is actually extremely accurate and even on some of the harder ones has preprogramed shortcuts if your having difficulty. Clearly its not something you are going to be able to put on and be a expert in 5 minutes but the learning curve isn't bad at all. With a couple hours of time I was able to learn each key pretty well and I had gone through each "lesson" a couple times just to make sure it sunk in ,but doing them over was my choice and not needed. Its been a while since a new style gadget really impressed me like this has and I can't wait for the different apps collection to continue growing. This thing far surpassed my expectations.

I absolutely love my TAP - being able to use a wearable to type in XR makes all the difference. I have also seen it used by those with low vision and so is a great accessibility device. I highly recommend this device to those who are looking at the future!

Yhis product is not as easy to use as they make it out to be. You have to learn a whole new language almost like sign language to use it. It would be way easier to speak to a voice controlled device or stay with a qwerty keyboard.
I would not waste my money buying it I am already getting rid of it as I no longer use it as it's to hard.

Cool idea and I love playing with it. More of a toy than necessity, but I like it.

I’m now using TAP daily for business note taking. I have to admit the training and skills-development process, while not difficult, does require some dedication. I actually became a little dismayed and set TAP aside for a couple months because I wasn’t improving at a rate satisfactory to me. That all changed when I decided to just dive fully in and begin using TAP in business meetings to take notes. Epiphany: note taking is not dictation! My TAP typing speed is only about 15 WPM, but I found this rate to be more than adequate when hitting down important ideas in the meetings. More importantly, I’m able to do this while being fully engaged with others in the meeting, tapping while looking straight at them. My notes are neat, property punctuated, use numbers, etc. In short, my TAP note taking is far superior to any other method I’ve used over the four decades I’ve been taking meeting notes.

As a side, I’m using my smartphone or iPad to take notes using the Notability app. But any word processing app would work just as well. The only downside to Notability is it does not do auto-complete; a feature that would make TAP that much more efficient.

Bottom line: TAP’s training apps are fun and very helpful. But I found jumping in the deep end and real-world use to be the superior training.

[UPDATE] I've switched to Evernote for my phone/iPad note taking. Evernote is better and includes auto-correct, which speeds my note taking considerably. Also, WPM is up to 22.
