Owlet Smart Sock 2 Baby Monitor (Renewed)

I wish I had this product with my other two children. I am “that” mom that constantly is checking to make sure her baby is breathing. Even at 5 and 2, I still always check the monitor to make sure my kids have moved positions. So, even when they did sleep as babies, I never did.

When I gave birth to my 3rd, I researched this product and knew it was well worth the money. I can’t stress how much I love this monitor. I sleep so well because I know I do not need to get up every 15 minutes to check on the baby. I simply do a live reading.

Recently my baby got a bad cold at 2 months. Doctor said to just make sure she doesn’t start wheezing. With the Owlet, I can check her oxygen levels constantly. If it weren’t for this monitor, I would be a nervous mess with zero sleep for the last week.

Do yourself a favor and invest in it. It is soooo worth it!!

Just to comment on some other reviews - I have never had a false reading. I never have any issues with the monitor itself. As long as you put the sock on correctly, there should be no issues. I also love that if the sock comes loose or you are too far from the base station, it plays a lullaby. It’s their way of letting you know there is an issue without having a panick attack thinking something is wrong.

My 3 month old suffers from reflux so he wouldn’t sleep on his back he was so uncomfortable. After months of holding him at night to sleep I was exhausted and neither of us were getting adequate sleep. Our pediatrician said we could put him on his belly to sleep as long as we monitored his oxygen. I can’t say enough positive things about the Owlet! It’s given me peace of mind knowing he is sleeping well by himself and I’d be alerted if anything were wrong. The only little hiccup is that while nursing my son the sock sometimes gets misplaced which causes an alarm to sound. Not a big deal for me as i just turn off the sock through the app before nursing and then turn it back on after.

My wife and I had our first child 6 weeks premature. (Everything is fine now, he is healthy and growing) One of the things that kept my son in the NICU was the under development of the lungs. This 2 weeks for his lungs to catch up but finally we were allowed to come home. As new parents, you are already on the edge about everything but making sure that your child is breathing and heart pumping should not be one of those things. We bought this product while he was in the NICU and could not be more happy with it. The owlet has allowed my wife to get more sleep at night just because we know the owlet will go off if anything is wrong. The two apps are fantastic. I can always keep tabs on him when he is sleeping if I get paranoid. We put this on my son every night when he goes to bed and it records his heart rate, O2 levels, and sleep. We have even used the trend charts in the app to show the doctor if they ever have any questions on how he is sleeping.

The owlet really is a must have for parents especially if your child is premature like ours. The amount of sleep we have been able to get knowing he is okay is absolutely amazing.

Our daughter was born seventeen days early at 6lbs 1oz. The sock works great for maybe an hour, and then invariably the sock moves out of position and we get an alert, because her feet are too small for a secure fit with the smallest of the three included socks. We have stopped using it for now, but when she has grown a little more, I think we’re likely to start using it again.

There’s also a recurring issue where the app can’t connect to the base station. You have to disconnect and reconnect the base station physically from its microUSB power connector in order to resolve the issue. This happened more than daily before we stopped using the device due to size issues. When this happens, the device is still monitoring, but you can’t see the stats from the app, and I am pretty sure you don’t get push notifications. Some Googling indicates that this is a known issue, but it also seems like Owlet has already published software changes that should have addressed it, but I am still experiencing the issue.

In all, I’d say this is a good product. I’m a little disappointed with the price — I don’t see $200-300 worth of product here. Fretful parents will surely pay it anyway, but I don’t feel great about the business practices of a company that takes advantage of that.

Live this product! We actually bought it for our 7 month old daughter when we switched from a smart bed to a crib and she started sleeping on her stomach. It has given us peace of mind that she is not restricting her breathing at all. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of of 5 is because a few nights out of the 2 weeks we have had it, it has woken us up to let us know the sock “came loose”. It I always still in and we just wiggle it in her foot and it starts reading again but sort of stinks to be woken up by it, but of course a needed feature to make sure it continues to work.

We've been very happy with ours so far (have only had for 2 weeks). The first one we bought only worked for a week before it started constantly giving notifications to check sock placement, regardless of how we placed it on my daughter's foot. After troubleshooting with Owlet, they were prompt on sending us a new one, which we've had for about a week now. The app has worked well for us, and we haven't gotten any false notifications. I am a worrier, and this helps me sleep so much easier. Knowing all I have to do is look across the room and see the green glow lets me relax and actually sleep, rather than waking up every hour to check if she's breathing! Definitely recommend, and I will try to remember to update this in a few months to see if we still like it.

Gave my wife and I peace of mind and a good nights sleep. I read a lot of reviews on this item before purchasing. I didn’t want to waste my money on another unnecessary baby item. The reviews ranged from “the worst product ever, what a waste of money” to “this item saved my baby’s life”. I was confused but decided to take a gamble. We bought the refurbished version to save a bit of money and it has worked perfectly as intended. I would recommend this product to anyone with a baby, espically first time parents. It was one less thing we had to worry about.

This is just as accurate as a hospital monitor - we actually made that transition when our little one came home from the hospital with RSV. I just wish the app alarms were adjustable. The oxygen low alarm is set at 80. 80 is low, not brain damage low like one reviewer claims, but I don’t want my little guy hanging out at 83 in his sleep. Our doc released him with him being at 88 during sleep. While we were there, we would add oxygen if he lingered below that. So we’re using the owlet to monitor him now that we’re home but it would be nice to adjust the alarm. The readings are great though.

Also, if your little one is up and moving, you won’t get a reading which is common for an O2 sensor. You have to hold their foot still for 10-20 seconds to get a solid reading.

I love this device. it is really easy to set up and it gives me comfort seeing my babies stats. I could watch him all night on his baby monitor but he's such a heavy sleeper its hard so see if he is even breathing. I know i shouldn't worry so much but I do... so if you are a worrier like me than this is perfect for you. I work 13hr nights so being able to just look at the app to see his heart rate and oxygen levels and also have a baby monitor on him is very reassuring.. plus it just makes me feel like I am there with him in a way.

I bought this monitor for my grandson who was born 12 weeks premature. It was used when he came home from the NICU. One night he quit breathing. It saved his life. He is now 5 months old, 7#5oz and he wears it every night. My daughter and SIL sleep better knowing the monitor is on him.
