Koolspace koolR Wine Cellar Cooling Unit - 300 Cu. Ft.

This is my second cool space wine cellar cooling unit. Keeps the temperature right at 60° and the humidity and about 70%. My wine cellar is 4' x 8' x 8' and holds approximately 150 bottles of wine. Works like a champ.

This is our second Koolspace unit for our wine cellar. The original lasted about 5 years. Reliable for that entire time. Stays at set temperature, and runs only as needed. Very little condensation drainage. For the price, this has been a good unit. When we replaced the original unit, it was simple to insert the new unit in the existing space.

So far just fine but we will have to wait and see about its staying power.

However, it does exactly what we need. It is cooling a very small closet very nicely.

I have used this product since 2006 without issue. I have a small wine room in a crawl space that is very well insulated with 4 inches of gas filled foil faced foam. To build a proper wine storage room you will need serious insulation (like what you see in a refrigerator, not what you put in the walls of a house) for the cooler to work properly. If insufficiently insulated, the unit will wear out very quickly and never reach its intended low temperature.
Be sure you have the right construction before you buy your unit.
After 7 years the unit finally failed. As other described, it seems early for a refrigeration unit, but I replaced the unit with the same one. It took 15 minutes to exchange the new unit. If I get another 7 years from this, I will consider it a good value.

i read quite a few reviews of this unit before i purchased it and came to the conclusion that if it lasts even 3 years, it will be a good investment to protect my cellar. I installed it with relative ease into a 500 bottle cabinet (6'x4'x2') and it has so far worked perfectly. i get a good even temperature throughout the entire cabinet and can hardly ever hear it running. The controls are simple and straightforward. The one thing i didn't like were the installation instructions. they were SO crowded with warnings that it was difficult to find the actual text that i needed to read.

hopefully it holds up for at least a few years!

This is an easy to install cooler, the templates and instructions are very clear. It does cool very well. The only knock I have on it is that the power cord should be on the warm side of the cooler, not the cold side. The outlets are usually placed outside of the of the cellar, not inside.

Just giving an update, about 18 months later, the unit is still functioning. I need to get another two years out of it before I create my wine room.

I received a wine storage cabinet w/o a cooling unit, this item was easy to install, works great at keeping my wine collection safe, and hardly uses any electricity. I am very happy and would highly recommend this cooler to you for a medium size collection of wine.

Installed this unit in the Summer of 2008. Properly insulated room with an insulated door. Keeps the temp about perfect and is very quiet. My experience with these types of units including other brands that cost twice as much or more is that they last about 5 years and then your replace them. Also it depends on your outer room temperature. If your house area around the wine storage area is 80+ it's going to work harder and last a shorter time. So..outside wall facing west? Bad idea. I recommend this one without any reservations. Just think how you will feel replacing a $1000 unit after 3-5 years! This is a deal.
