![Fire HD 8 (Old 2015 Model Only) Case, Poetic [Turtle Skin Series][Corner Protection][Sound-Amplification] Protective Silicone Case for Amazon Fire HD 8 (2015 Old Model)(NOT FIT 2016 New Model) Purple](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51iqX7dHrQL.jpg)
Fits my Fire perfectly, slips on easily. Also slips off easily so access to the sd card is super easy. Personally, I just leave mine in there but I know some people change them out and move them around. Haven't dropped it, so can't say how well it will protect it, I'm not going to drop it deliberately to find out. Adds a pleasant texture to the device while not adding a lot of bulk or weight. It is designed extremely well in regards to port access, sound, and heat management. Extremely happy with this case, especially given the price.
The only reason this is 4 and not 5 stars is because when I pick up the tablet, if I don't grab it squarely and happen to catch just the edge, the lip of the case wants to roll back off. All the protective cases I have owned in the past have had a hard plastic shell under the rubber exterior, giving it a lot more stability, but also adding weight and bulk. This is less a design flaw and more my own bad habits from previous cases, but it would be nice for the rubber to be a little less forgiving, specifically in the lip that comes up and over the tablet. It comes off about as easily as it goes on, so if you are wanting this case for a younger user, depending on their proclivities for picking at things and destruction in general, a more sturdy case might be better.
My only disappointment with the Kindle Fire HD 8 when I received it for Christmas was the fact that the back of the unit was too slippery, and a little too thin making it a hard to hold. I wished that it had a “rubberized” back to prevent slippage and any possible scratches to the finish.
Also, I do most of my reading in bed just before falling to sleep. This leads to an occasional dropping of the eReader on a little trip to the floor!
I looked on Amazon for a cover for the HD 8 – but most of the covers were just that – full covers with a folding cover flap. I’m not a fan of that type of cover while trying to read in bed, it’s just too much!
More searching brought me to the Poetic Turtle Skin series cover. It is the PERFECT thing for my use!
I have large hands, so the Turtle Skin makes it much easier for me to comfortably hold the HD 8. The surface has a slightly tacky feel to it, and in addition it stands proud of the screen to protect it on those occasional trips to the floor.
It’s a great product, not only to protect your HD 8 (or other pad type device) but to make it comfortable to hold, and to prevent the device from accidentally slipping from your hands!
This case is great, it gives solid drop protection to the sides and back of the tablet, while also making sure the screen doesn't contact a floor or other flat surface when dropped. Obviously, if you drop your Fire with this case on and it lands screen first on the corner of a coffee table, don't expect miracles. But normal drops that see the tablet landing on a floor should be safe from damage with this soft, cushy protective case on. And be realistic, if you drop your tablet a lot, then expect damage over time. No case will prevent eventual damage if you're a butter fingers by nature.
The soft rubbery texture improves grip for day-to-day use, and allows me to stand the tablet against something on a table for hands free usage without it sliding or slipping. Also, the claim that the case improves the sound from the speakers is spot on accurate. Sound is better from my Fire HD 8 with this case on. No question. Glad I bought this case!
Perfecto.
My son somehow managed to smash his Fire 7 Kids edition. Well, not somehow, he got hold of the tablet the one time we took it out of the case to clean it and well, that was that. I decided to give him my Fire 8 HD since I rarely use it anymore, only for pairing with the Fire TV really which is such a waste of an absolutely great device. So I wanted to get a case that would allow him to use it without smashing it if he accidentally drops it but isn't too heavy or bulky that he would just go for a phone instead. Enter, this case. Thankfully this case was still around after a while, my Fire 8 HD is the 2015 version. The case is really great. It feels just heavy enough to work, meaning it's not too thin and it's just light enough that the tablet inside the case isn't too heavy for him. He's already dropped the tablet several times and the case takes it all. Great case.
I love the Turtle Skin case. Fits the Fire HD 8 (2015) perfectly. The tactile feel is comfortable and exactly what I was looking for. The soft, skid-free, "rubberized" feel is so much better than the Fire alone or with other cases I've tried.
The "amplified" audio aspect of the case really surprised me. The case routes and directs sound from the Fire's speakers to slots in the case along its top and corners.
All ports are accessible with the exception of the SD card slot, but that's ok since I don't anticipate removing the SD card frequently. If I do need to access it, the case can easily be removed - takes no effort.
The case protects the corners and back of the Fire without interfering at all with the screen. There is no screen cover, so if you are looking for a cover that protects the screen, this case might not be for you. Honestly this does not bother me for the Fire HD 8 compared to my iPad since the cost differential is huge.
I highly recommend this case if you want a soft rubberized feel holding your Fire HD 8.

I was looking for a case like I had for my old kindle. I think my old one must have been a kid's case. This is the closest one I could find that would fit this new size. I wish it was as thick as my old one and I wish it had the grip that my old one had. When I first got this new case I was a little concerned because it was very slippery. I have used it now for awhile and that has gotten a little better. I do like that this case seems to protect my Kindle especially if it is ever dropped. Hopefully that won't happen. I would have given this one five stars if it would have been thicker and a little more rugged.
When I first purchased my Kindle Fire, I purchased an Amazon case. I found it uncomfortable to hold for very long since the case was so thin. I'm getting a little arthritis in some fingers so I would constantly change positions on how I held it. Then the Amazon case started to crack at the top two corners. I think they must have had an issue with their manufacturing since they no longer have that case for sale. So I started searching again and decided on this case. It didn't disappoint. It's a soft pliable material on the edges and they are rounded so it's very comfortable to hold. It gives you something to actually grab onto. The edges and the back of the case are textured so that also helps with the grip. I think it's much better protected if I were to drop it than it would have been in the Amazon case. I can still carry it in my purse (in a separate pocket from everything else), with the glass facing inward, just in case.
This case is amazing! It lets me hold my tablet while I'm laying down and gives a nice edge to hold onto. I love the design and how the sound is routed towards me with the case. It gives a nice bumper for drops (I haven't dropped it anymore than two feet from the carpet). I am using the new version of fire hd 8 2016 and this case still fits perfectly and works great for the buttons. The only issue is the headphone hole is in the wrong spot. I knew that buying this it was the old design for the other headphone jack placement but bought it anyways because of the affordable price and great reviews. I do not regret my purchase.
This is a very grippable protective case with thick "bumpers"-- and never slips when propped up on my knees or on my desk. Also has enough give in the padded back so I could easily slip in a Tile (so I can find it when I forget where I put it). My Fire HD 8 is much heavier than my old Fire, so I appreciate the protection of this tough wrapper. I do miss a cover, though -- it bothers me a bit that the screen itself is open to the world of my briefcase. Of course I installed a really good protective glass sheet, but maybe the next generation of the turtle could include some kind of cover, or even a prop mechanism.
This case has already been afforded multiple opportunities to demonstrate its ability to protect the kindle purchased for my 8 year old. It's done a GREAT job protecting the kindle through the numerous times it's already been dropped in the short amount of time he's had it. It does not impede any of the sound quality and my son is able to use all of the available accessories without removing the case.
