This machine works great, but it needs adjusted to make properly sized ice cubes. Unfortunately, the manual, website, and search engines fail to provide instructions on how. To fix the dreaded sheet of ice that is near unbreakable, you must pull the machine out to access the back panel. There you find an adjust button. Hold this down until it begins blinking rapidly. Then hit the clean button to select how thick you want the sheet of ice to be. The thicker it is, the harder to break the cubes become. If you select the thinnest setting, the sheet will break correctly and the machine is great! You may need to repeat this procedure and cycle through the clean button until you get the correct size. I hope this helps with some of the frustration with this otherwise excellent machine.
After reading several reviews I selected this ice machine since even the ones costing 3x as much didn't get better reviews. I found the installation quite straightforward. I did installed a water filter upstream of the ice machine and I would highly recommend that as it seems most problems with all these machines can be traced to water issues. The instructions are well written. The water supply line that comes with the machine is good quality but not compatible with the fitting on my water filter, so I needed to use fittings from Lowes. As you see in other reviews, the ice needs to be broken up but it's easy to do with the scoop. The noise level is not excessive. It's about the same as the refrigerator next to it. Of course the first few batches or ice dropping down into the empty bin make some noise. When not making ice the unit is silent. I like the gravity drain. One less thing to break and make noise. Ice production is fast enough to keep up with any party unless you've got 50 alcoholics in your house.
You may find it odd for me to give this ice maker 5 stars since I actually returned mine, but it had nothing to do with the quality of the machine. Even the guy who installed the machine commented on the quality of the product and the ice that it produced. My ONLY reason for returning it is that I ordered the wrong size by accident, and we didn't realize it until we got home and it was already installed. Our original ice maker was a Kitchen Aide, but I honestly prefer the ice produced by this machine even better. The customer service was great and provided a quick turnaround on my refund when I had to return the machine. (Remember to retain original box and all packing until you are sure about keeping your appliance.)
Once you adjust the settings to the smallest cubes the machine works correctly and the ice breaks into the bin. I tried setting the cubes 1 and 2 levels larger and the cubes came out in thick sheets, so adjust the settings to the smallest cubes and you will have no issues with ice sheets.

Makes ice extremely fast and it runs so quietly. Great price for such quality
The Edgestar IB450SS was just the ticket to replace my old under the counter unit. It fit like a glove, started making ice like a boss, and the manufacturer's delivery and startup tech service were great. I couldn't be happier with it.
Had some issues with the icemaker and called edgestar customer service. Best ever!! Thanks!!
This EdgeStar replaced a broken under counter ice maker. Perfect fit. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars is that the ice comes out in sheets & still has to be broken up. But so far so good with its ability to produce the ice we need.
I do question where it was stored and for how long?
Some of the screws were rusting and just looked a little ratty!
