Update: still find this a very useful griddle.
Two tips
1. use small silicone tipped tongs to open and close the lid without risking being burned by the heat - see pic
2. put tinfoil and/or paper towel under it to capture splatter. The splatter is very fine but even with the lid down it was about 3 inches all around the griddle
3. gently press down on the lid with the tongs ( no need to press hard and if you do it may tip the griddle forward) to speed up cooking and further reduce the opening size that splatter can come from
This griddle is tiny and cute but it's also useful and does a great job of grilling a small item
I cooked a small beef tenderloin on it. I put olive oil on th steak along with salt pepper and fresh minced garlic
Nothing sticked!
The griddle gets very hot. See bubbles in the pics attached.
I cooked one side, flipped it over then put the lid down and it "browned" it beautifully.
If you just have a small steak/patty or single egg or anything else in a small size this is a great way to cook it without hauling out frying pans and firing up the stove.
Clean up was easy. I just let it cool and wiped the plates with a damp paper towel
I didn't give it 5 stars because there is no on/off switch. That I find very inconvenient. I would also like it if the cooking plates popped off and could go in the dishwasher but as I said clean up was easy despite the plates not being removeable.
The price is great
I did two videos ( had to do two as iphones don't have stop/start ability) of the steak cooking. If you search for
dash mini griddle they should come up so you can see it in action. I find videos very helpful so hope these two are.
Highly recommend if this fits your lifestyle and as one reviewer commented you could just skip it in your bag and take to the office or hotel room it's that tiny!
Neat little device for when you want to cook a little something quickly without making a mess on the stove. I mostly use it to cook one or two eggs at a time. Cooks from both sides and gets the job done usually in less than five minutes while I multitask on other things. My egg(s) come out fluffy and delicious. I don't even have to use cooking spray or butter. I've never had the egg stick to it. I just clean with a wet paper towel while it's still hot and then let it cool before I put it away. I love the RED color and the ease of use! I also use this when traveling or camping. If your vehicle has the correct plug as many do these days, you can easily plug it in for a hot meal or snack. What else could you cook or warm up with this? Well be creative. A small slab of meat/hamburger, chicken breast, vegetables, etc.......
made a perfect grilled cheese at 3am. had to push in the corners a little bit. plugged it in gave it less that a minute, checked to see if it was warm yet and already had perfectly brown and crusty grilled cheese. "literally" dont go make a phone call or finish one more level of the game, its so small it heats up fast... if you need to cook one grilled cheese, egg, hamburger patty or a couple of sausage patties... this is perfect...
Dash company really makes some good products. I bought the little waffle maker and I loved it so much that I got this mini skillet, too! I made an egg on it and it turned out perfectly. I spread a little vegetable oil, dropped on the egg, closed, and cooked for about 90 seconds. The egg was perfectly fried and still yolk-y in the center. I wouldn't recommend using spray oil because they tend to gunk up non-stick surfaces like this. A few drops of regular cooking oil are really all you need.
I am living in a small dorm studio with a very small kitchen. This device fits perfectly and is very pleasant. Not only does it make the best eggs ever, I can use it to heat bread and pizza slices that come out crunchy, fresh and delicious. I am sure I can use it to grill burgers abd chopped meat ss well. There is no sticking of food whatsoever .... very easy to clean and the pretty color is a plus too.

This turned out to be a pleasant surprise as it actually works very well. I have used it to cook burgers and pancakes so far both of which came out great. It's incredibly easy to use, takes up so little space, and works quickly.
Why only 4 stars? It's not easy to clean. The plates themselves clean quite easily so something like pancakes had basically no cleanup. However when cooking something like a burger that splatters a bit, the sides got quite messy and are difficult to clean. There's a small gap between the plates and the rest of the device that you'll never get food out of. Close this up and I'd give it 5 starts.
Overall: highly recommend for somebody with a small kitchen or like in my case who has an ancient stove that's frustrating to cook on.
I got both the mini waffle maker and the mini griddle. I love them both and have already recommended them to my family! They cook so quickly, I can make myself three mini waffles on my lunch break without cutting too much into my break.
I plugged in my mini maker and it was ready before I could even finish making my pancake batter. I was nervous that when I closed the top batter would ooze out the side but it didn't at all. Soon the light flashed and I opened it up to a perfect, fluffy pancake. I now use this instead of a regular pan or griddle when cooking for myself since it's much faster and easier to clean.
This mini maker really is miniature! It fits in my hand, easily. It works well for a single person, perfect for me.
This little griddle has been working great for a few weeks now. I bought it so my son, 8yo, could start cooking himself a hot shower and learn some responsibility in the kitchen. Sure I have to clean up egg yoke off the counter every morning. And I have to remind him to unplug it occasionally. But it helps him learn to cook and gives me a couple minutes of much needed time to enjoy a cup of coffee. It's easier to clean than a skillet, makes the egg the perfect size for an english muffin or other sandwich, and is in general a well thought out, affordable, and convenient appliance that takes up very little space.
