Absolutely everything its promised to be. Reduced the pipe diameter to 7" to make it easier to fit inside cabinets but I don't think it will affect airflow.
Since it has dampers I used a 7" wall vent with birdscreen to outside wall.
Low setting is better than high on almost anything else out there if you consider standard hoods and over range micros. High speed is more than you could likely need unless you burn dinner a lot.
Its generally quiet at all speeds unless you do a poor job securing the vent pipes and allow them to vibrate against something along the way.
Spend the time and get this part right. You will be glad you did.
Overall VERY PLEASED. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. The build quality is better than the big box stores by a country mile and need I say it is hefty and solid.
The remote is nifty but can't really say it is something I would ever use.
Our over the range Microwave died and we decided to replace with a powerful range hood as we do a lot of stir fry cooking and large amount of smoke is generated. Having read the reviews both positive and negative here, I was in 2 minds to buy this product. After thinking it over for a long time, I finally made the purchase. The price was right and the product was promptly shipped. I inspected the box soon as it arrived and I did not see any significant damage to the box. I proceeded to open the box carefully. As I started taking the parts out, I noticed that the bag of fasteners was open and all the screws were scattered at the bottom. There are lots of screws provided with this range hood and you end up with lots of extras. I assume it is for different ways to mount this product. I went to Home Depot to look for the metal clamp to secure the flexible duct which comes with the unit to the range hood outlet. The clamps are not provided with the unit. Alternatively you could use 3M Metal tape to secure them. The outlet is 8" which at Home Depot I was told was unusual for homes and I was not able to find the clamps. I first plugged the range hood in and ran it at different settings to make sure there was no issue. It ran fine at all the settings and so I proceeded with the installation. I drew a template using cardboard so I could mark the corresponding mounting locations on the bottom of my cabinet and pre-drilled all the screw mounting holes. The 30" range hood is heavy. Installation is definitely a 2 person or 3 person job though depending on the mounting location and how much space you get around it to get a good hold. You may also need to employ a cabinet lift jack or a vehicle floor jack. We had to go through and try different ways to get it in there but finally we have been able to mount it. Some of the videos on Youtube will help. The manual which comes with the unit is woefully inadequate. It needs clearer pictures and a complete rewrite. The access to the screw holes is tricky. Also if space permits, it would be best to put the screws in first and then lining up the screw head with the large holes, lift the hood in and slide it back in place and then tighten the screws. If your home is not setup to vent outside and you are not too handy, you may need to use professional help.
We took a chance on this range hood after reading reviews here and at Home Depot. We really like the high CFM and the larger ducting size (8") because we are getting ready to buy a gas range and want to be able to move air.
After turning it on the first few times, we happened to notice one of the plastic damper halves on the roof! Seems the plastic hinge pin got weakened or broken during installation (see photo). We contacted Cosmo, and they are sending a replacement.
We also like the rounded corners to minimize head scrapes. We installed it 37" above our range for the same reason.
We replaced the blue-ish LED Lights wtih brighter white LEDs and are pleased.
As other reviewers noted, the instruction manual isn't very clear, so we had to rely on comments from other reviewers and a neighbor who had some experience.
Cosmo COS-QS75 Pro-Style Under Cabinet Range Hood
Nice range hood - streamlined styling makes it easy to clean, powerful fans move enough air to keep the house from filling with smoke when cooking hamburgers and steaks in cast iron skillets over high heat. This is the third vent hood i have tried, and the first to actually work effectively.
Came with a variety of mounting options and hardware, and I think one or two of the options would have worked, but instead I just used some long bolts and nuts and it worked great. Had to make a template out of newspaper for drilling the bolt holes. Including a template with the hood would be a nice addition but making one was easy. Maybe with three people you could hold up the hood and mark directly, but it was too heavy/awkward for two people to do reaching over the stove. The remote works good, but don't give the kids ideas about playing pranks with it. That backfired. I didn;t weigh it but this is a substantial piece - solid stainless and heavy fan motors. It is what you need if you are serious about cooking, but make sure you mount it good it is not a flimsy lightweight!
This hood has two powerful fans with 900CFM. The suck force is much stronger than my previous hood with 360CFM.
This hood is heavy and it took some effort to install it. Once installed, we love the hood. We wish the LED light could be brighter and the oil collector can be accessed externally without having to remove the filters. Otherwise, will give a 5 star.

Absolutely amazing quality. I was hesitant to buy online sight unseen, but I took my chances and I'm glad I did. I am super impressed with all the features this offers. No more smoke in the kitchen when I cook! The LED lights are absolutely beautiful and illuminate the food better than any single light bulb under the Hood ever could. Just one thing to keep in mind, this is not a hard wire, it's plug in. So if you purchase be sure you already have an outlet, or be prepared to have one installed.
When we opened the product we discovered that the dampers were both broken (seems to be a common problem). I emailed the company (still awaiting replacement) to get a replacement, but anticipating that taking a while. We looked for replacements at the hardware store and online, but they must be specially designed for this since we couldn’t find replacements. We went ahead with the install while we wait for the replacement dampers.
It doesn’t come with any template for mounting so be prepared to make your own or measure. The company could really improve by adding a template. The mounting hardware provided was insufficient for top mount based on how heavy it was. We solved this by going and getting different screws and some nuts to install in our cabinet overhead. The instructions are weak, but my husband is super handy so we figured it out. The duct is actually 7.5” not 8” so a standard 6” to 8” reducer will not work. Most American homes are built with 6”. We solved this by building up the 8” side of the reducer till it fit the unit. The 8” ducting that comes with the unit is super weak, would get puntured or torn easily, so we went straight from unit with reducer and used our own 6” ducting to get the rest of the way up to the outlet.
Upon testing we discovered the fan is quiet and very powerful. It looks so good with our new cabinets. Still waiting to try it out when we put the kitchen back together so I’ll update once we get some runtime.
This unit was purchased to replace the over the range microwave/vent combo. First let me say if you have one of those over the range microwave/vent combo hoods in your house I am truly sorry. Get rid of it as soon as possible. Mine was blowing dirty, dusty air back in to my kitchen for 3 yrs before I finally did something about it. My kitchen has a full duct through the roof so why was it designed to blow air back in the kitchen? My guess is it was cheaper and/or easier when the house was built.
The Cosmo QS75 has changed my world. Coming from a over the range microwave/vent to this thing is like going from a KIA to an Mercedes Benz. The upgrade is totally worth it in my opinion. At less than $300 to add this beautiful hood to a kitchen is a steal! The LED lights provide a very bright white light. Not the orange glow that most bulbs give off. This one is at least 5000k. My wife can now see what is in the pot on the stove. The fan has 4 speeds and level 4 is a tornado of suction! We use levels 1 and 2 for cooking and barely smell what was cooked afterwards. Our test for this was cooking an Easter ham for 3 hours straight. I no longer smell dinner in my bedroom while trying to fall asleep 4 hours after it was cooked. The stainless vent filter system is really nice. I haven't had to clean it yet but I imagine it's easy. I plan on soaking mine in Dawn and then a light scrub if needed.
My only issue so far is the LED's behind the front panel seem to be pushed too far to the left, which causes some of the buttons to not fully illuminate. There are also some very small pin holes that are allowing the blue light through where it should be black. Neither of these issues effect the functionality of the unit so I'm not too worried. Just not sure how this one made it through quality control. Bottom line, I still love this thing!
Installation can be difficult as it's in a tight spot. Be sure you have someone to help you for this. We decided not to pull the stove out as we did not want to have to reconnect the gas line. I ended up having to lay down across my stove and counter on my back to get the top screws in. Check to make sure your cabinet bottom has boards at all the correct mounting holes. Mine did not so we had to install two layers of kicker boards screwing each layer into the previous one. You can see the white board used on the final mounting layer above the hood. This will match perfectly once we paint our cabinets, which is our next project. All in all the install took about 3 hours.
We’ve just installed this range hood ductless for over our range. It is beautiful, and will be a visual and functional addition to our kitchen. We bought it for its upscale appearance, but it also has very powerful suction and is easy to operate. Be aware that you will need to cut a duct-size hole into the bottom of the top kitchen cabinet to which it is mounted, which restricts the storage space in the top cabinet.
We did have some confusion about the charcoal filters. Although the website stated we would have to purchase them separately, the instruction manual states that they are included. They are not, and have to be ordered directly from Cosmo by calling them at 888-784-3108 Monday-Friday 9-4PST. They are carbon filters #CFK5. Identifying the filter model number and locating from where to purchase the filter took a bit of sleuthing, but looking at the end results was well worth the time.
This is a very sturdy unit and looks like it costs more than the $300 we paid.
I love the smooth operation of this range hood. It looks wonderful with our new range, the fan is quiet, the touch controls are a great feature. We had this professionally installed to vent through the roof and when the fan is on it draws any smoke and heat away very nicely. This range hood is heavy duty, it gives the appearance of a professional kitchen. I highly recommend it!
