I've used the kit so far for leather work glove repair (re-stitching the end of the thumb which had unraveled). The thread that comes with the kit is waxed, relatively thick, and very strong. I used the glove needle and sewed through using the existing holes in the leather. Worked great. The assortment of needles make come in handy too. The included thimble is a ring rather than a cap that fits on the end of your finger. I couldn't quite get the hang of it -- the needle would slip off the thimble easily when I applied pressure. I would have much preferred a traditional cap thimble.

Worked great for me, I had to sew up a leather to leather seam that broke and it was super easy to do with this kit!!

The sewing kit is great for the price I like it a lot, I have been using it on a couple of leather projects. My only complaint it the curved needles seemed a little week, I broke the of at the eye this could also just be my fault.
