I saw Darla828’s review on Jan 3 2013, and I feel the review needs a 2017 update:

This furniture piece now comes in ‘regular’ packaging lined with approximately 1/2” thick Styrofoam sheets. It is also insulated with cardboard sheets and white fusible paper packing sheets.

Each corner of the ottoman has 2 wood “feet” that come together like corner moulding on a ceiling. The feet are stapled at the corner joints—essentially, the equivalent of 8 total feet for the 4 corners of the ottoman.

One of the 8 feet had two brass screws had sheared off before I opened the box. The screws could have been extracted and replaced by 2 new screws by someone who is handy with tools or a DIYer.

Instead--long story short--Corner Housewares sent a replacement ottoman with absolutely no hassles. It made for a very pleasant buying experience.

I agree with Darla828’s recommendation to hammer in the staples to prevent jutting edges from possibly scratching wood floors. Personally, I don’t see the need for those staples on the foot connections. The staples could be replaced by an additional end screw on each foot. The screws are imbedded below the surface of the wood, so the screws do not come in contact with the floor. Only the balsa-type wood feet and the staples have contact with the floors.

Most importantly, if you have wood floors, I would HIGHLY recommend putting felt pads or furniture sliders under the feet, to allow the ottoman to glide easily across the floor surface without the staples possibly scratching your floors.

Yes, the “pleather” could be susceptible to scratches if you have pets and kids playing around it. That’s what happens to this type of material. In my case, I will eventually have a slipcover made to match the slipcovers on my other furniture, which has a white beachy theme, so I’m not concerned about future pleather scratches.

As to the realities of a sleeper mattress: Yes they tend to be a little harder, but there are workarounds. There are Velcro straps at each corner of this mattress, to hold the mattress to its frame. I anticipated having thin, harder mattress on a convertible chair/ottoman sleeper, so I purchased separately a ‘Mattress Support Folding Bed Boards 24x60’ on Amazon—I placed it at the head of the mattress and it certainly improves the feel of the mattress. Since the Velcro straps are at the 4 corners of the mattress, it was easy to slip the bed board between the mattress and frame. (The bed board would need to be slid out from under the mattress and folded up separately when folding up the sleeper.) Or, use a memory foam mattress pad that can be cut to size—either starting with twin size for one, or cutting a full size to fit 2 separate sleeper mattresses--which I have done successfully on a chair-and-a-half sleeper that has a cot sized mattress. A thinner foam mattress pad allows it to be left on the sleeper mattress when folding it up—making it a bit tighter to fold up the mattress with the mattress pad, but it works.

As to the top piece of the ottoman, it must have been improved, since my top piece fits like a plug over bottom section.

Also, in my first attempt at pulling out the mattress, I had placed the ottoman top precariously to the side. The top fell onto a corner of the coffee table, which cut into the thin paper underlining of the ottoman top. The underlining is similar to the cheesecloth-like interface material under a regular box spring. Still, it’s not noticeable when the ottoman is closed and honestly I think the interfacing isn’t needed under the ottoman, but if it bugs you, it can be replaced with fabric-like interfacing or muslin from a sewing/crafts store like a JoAnns fabrics store.

What isn’t mentioned: Consider storing it sideways! When the ottoman isn’t needed, it can be placed on its side, with its feet against the wall, within a walk-in closet, or against a lesser used end of a room, to be pulled out and placed on its feet when needed. Just make sure that the ottoman top is snugly inserted.

I agree with the adage, “You get what you pay for." And I get nervous about buying furniture via the internet. I also have second and third thoughts about buying furniture sourced from another country known for cheap manufacturing. As the offset, prices are often lower on the internet versus a brick and mortar furniture store, so I was willing to take a chance on the purchase.

As previously mentioned, when I did have a concern, I contacted the seller directly, Corner Housewares AKA Corner II LTD, which has on-shore (USA based) customer service. My customer service rep, Christine, and her manager, went beyond the call of duty in alleviating my concerns and promptly sending me a replacement ottoman sleeper. I didn’t need to use Amazon Assistant or contact Amazon Customer Service to escalate and resolve my concern. . While I do not foresee a future need for me to buy additional furniture, but I’d certainly look forward to buying products again from this seller.

This could not be better as a bed in my studio that can now be used as a guest bedroom. Our grandson has outgrown the pack n play so I was looking for a small fold out bed. I was thrilled when I came across this ottoman. The bed folds out and back in easily! I've spent two nights on it and it is comfortable. Be careful with the bottom legs that have staples in them. My husband cut his thumb on them when applying sliders (we have hardwood floors.) I would have given 5 stars but the fabric looks thin, so I don't know how it will hold up. I would recommend to a friend!

I have only used this for my guests a couple of times and they have said it sleeps well. I love that it was already put together and required no assembly. Excellent. Although the color wasn't quite as described, it works well with my decor for the room it's in.

Best investment I ever made. I've already had two guests sleep on it and both said how comfortable it was! Yay!

What a great Ottoman Sleeper. I used it myself and with a little foam pad It was very comfortable. Glad I bought it for an additional bed.

Compact and convenient no one knows is a bed good for family and friends for a weekend stay

Good-looking ottoman and a decent sleeper, even for an adult! maybe a bit short for a tall person (our guest was 5'10"), but we added bunch of pillows at the head side and it worked fine. The ottoman itself is actually pretty wide (almost a square) so keep in mind the footprint when decide to purchase.

These are really, really nice. We bought 2 for our luxury RV. I definitely recommend them.

Arrived with a hole in it. Not sure what punctured it.

This is the perfect hidden bed for a smaller area. Used as a bench in a family room it opens fully when the coffee table is moved. The mattress is comfortable and the frame is better than the standard sofabed. Open carefully since it has a tendency to tip if pulled out too fast but folds easily to fit into the bench. Only complaint I have is the foot glides. One fell off and two were installed so poorly that nails used to apply them would scratch wood floors or damage carpet. Those we'll replace with a low cost upgrade from the local hardware store. Good product for the price and an attractive addition to our family room.
