We purchased the “Barking at the Moon” brand upon recommendation from our Vet to clear up food related allergies. Our dog loved it for months until a few weeks ago we noticed a change in the color and shape of the food to lighter color and more of a marshmallow shape from the disc shape. Emailed the company with pictures to inquire as to a recipe change after verifying the flavor was the same we had purchased many times before. The response was that there are slight variations in color and shape due to manufacturing, but that the recipe remains the same. Our dog is not convinced as she will no longer eat it and we have gone back to the Costco food we used to buy. The dog did not love the Costco food like Barking at the Moon, but will eat it now since she Won’t touch BatM, so we’re convinced a change was made to Barking at the Moon . It’s too bad as she really gobbled up Barking at the Moon. Picture shows old recipe on top and “new” variation on bottom.
Updste 2/18. All is well now. We opened the “auto shipped” bag we received after the previous bag our dog ended up eating. She eventually would eat it when she got really hungry. We found the new bag to be the same as the original formula and have concluded there must have been a packaging error by Barking at the Moon. She is once again gobbling it down like before. I wish BATTM would have investigated a little more before dismissing our complaint without any concern, but she loves it so we will continue to order.
I am not sure what this tastes like but one thing I know it must taste fantastic because my dog loves it. I was on a website called Dog Food Advisor and this food gets 5 out of 5 stars on their website. My Donna dog is a picky eater but not anymore. She runs when she hears me pouring this into her bowl. No more coaxing her to eat------she dives right in. I was amazed at all the healthy ingredients in this food. Lots of veggies and fruits so extra vitamins they may not normally get in regular dog food. Donna wanted me to tell you thank you for making her a happy healthy dog.
He likes best the other one for tiny little dogs heart ❤️ shapes less Protein to be more specific more expensive.
** I’m sooo happy I founded “SOLID GOLD DOG” 🐕 FOOD FOR LITTLE BREEDS. Since my dog has a very sensitive stomach I been trying many different products/brands since 2017/2018 I been buying this brand and my little dog 🐕 is doing well !! No throwing up, the grains are tiny hearts shapes, “Brown color” very important. >One issue with this product it’s EXPENSIVE $$ !! he likes only beef small breed (Cost too much for 4- pounds)and chicken. I buy-4- lbs at a time because I want him to eat FRESH since he eats small portions at a time.
I tried duck 🦆 nope, Turkey nope, salmon nope. Other than this prices $ I recommend this product 100% >Hopefully they NEVER CHANGE THEIR FORMULA. Thanks for reading my posting.
Fantastic dog food. We purchased our lab/german shepard from a breeder. They had fed him Purina brand puppy food. Our new pups ears were nasty infected and smelt horrible. We changed his food to Solid Gold. Within 2 weeks his ears were better. Now we have had him over a month on this food and his ears are fully recovered. We used coconut oil as well in his ears in addition to the dog food diet. Our pups fur coat shines and looks so healthy. The food gives him a healthy boost of energy as well. So so so pleased with this dog food. Also, our dog did not like the food at first, but now he honestly loves it! Weird, I know. He acts all crazy hapoy when it is feeding time now. :)
I have a very picky eater Maltese with a sensitive stomach - so finding food he'll eat is always a chore. Luckily this Solid Gold stuff is great! It's grain free, and the first few ingredients are, in fact, real meat! My dog didn’t care for this dog food. Maybe because i Purchased beef and she usually prefers chicken. It is loaf form and a little hard to get out of the can.
My pup loves this and it's easy on his stomach. We've had so many issues with him getting sick in the past but not with this food. It's pricey but got a high independent rating by a company that evaluates dog food.
Our breeder recommended this. We had shown her pics of our poor puppy with constantly runny eyes. She suggested removing grain and chicken from his diet to combat what appeared to be allergies. We've been using it for a couple weeks now and both our puppies love the taste. The one with allergies isn't totally cured, but he's so much better. His eyes have mostly stopped running, and he only rubs his face 2-3x / day instead of almost hourly.
With my dog’s chicken allergy, finding a food with no chicken ingredients was hard enough. But finding food she likes? It seemed impossible.
