Panda 3200 rpm Portable Spin Dryer 110V/22lbs Stainless Steel

I feel like I am somewhat of an expert on Spin dryers, as I've had 4 of them. I use them in my business several times a day. 3 were from the Laundry Alternative. The earliest model broke down after about a year, the second model was pretty good and broke down after about 3 years when the bottom was literally rotting out from rust (I was OK with this as I felt I got plenty of use out of it). The third one was their latest, and it was a disaster, the quality was horrible and it didn't last a week. So, as I was desperate, and about ready to lose my mind for lack of a spin dryer which my work flow depends on, I ordered this one.

HEAVEN. This is seriously the best spin dryer I have ever used. It is so well made and durable. You have to WORK to make it out of balance. I just throw the fiber I'm drying in there and only about 1 out of 10 times is it out of balance, compared to the LA one (which I was happy with at the time). It does not vibrate excessively and is quiet for a spin dryer. And, the best thing is - it has a brake. So, when you turn it off, the spinning stops immediately. Someone pointed it out that maybe this will reduce the lifespan of the dryer. I'm impatient and used to stick my hand in the other one to get it to stop (carefully, with a towel on my fingers, so I didn't rip my hand off), so if this reduces the lifespan of this dryer, so be it, better than losing a hand.

My only criticism would be that it seems like the outside finish is rusting a little from water droplets. If I cared, I could be more careful about letting the items drip dry or wipe the outside down after a spin. That might be something you should watch for if you get this dryer.

I have only had it for about a month now, but I've probably spun at least 30-40 loads in it.

If you are in the market for a spin dryer, spend the extra money and get this one. It's WELL worth it.

It worked as expected. It is perfect to do laundry in close spaces. We received this little unit well ahead of the promised delivery date. It works very well and I am very happy with the performance. The unit removes enough water to convince me it is saving energy cost as well as wear and tear on the conventional electric dryer. Do NOT use Chlorine bleach unless you wring by hand and then rinse stainless steel will corrode and fall to pieces! I suggest getting a VERY sturdy table and putting a 5 gallon bucket beneath the dryer water spigot. If you have a porch out of the elements this dryer would be best used there. Except for heavy cottons items dry with a fan at room temps in less than 5 minutes after hanging. Towels and t-shirts about an hour on shower rack. I LOVE THIS THING! Very important to press all of the laundry added hard into bottom of dryer to insure balance. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I recommend it to anyone wishing to reduce their energy cost as well as the time conventional dryers take to do the same job.

Four Stars because it the first one came DOA. I used the free return feature, identical replacement, the old one was picked up the next business day and the new arrived two days later. The first unit beeped when you turned it on but did not spin. Second one works perfectly.

My previous dryer was the Nina soft. It worked fine for 3 years then just quit. I decided to try the Panda because it has higher spin speed.

Note: First I review Spin Dryers, and at the end I will compare the Nina Soft to the Panda.

Both Spin Dryers were very useful machines. They spin out so much water that 10 minutes in a commercial dryer would get the clothes dry. Clothes dry easily in an hour indoors, 10 - 20 minutes outdoors. Together with a bucket and a breathing mobile washer, you can do a load of clothes very quickly in the kitchen or bath and get things cleaner than a washing machine by far. I soak overnight in the bucket, use the breathing washer (looks like a plunger but is a hard plastic agitator) to work the clothes in the bucket for 5 minutes, then spin out the soapy water, refill bucket with fresh water, work the clothes for a couple of minutes, then spin out the rinse water for 5 minutes and hang to dry or tumble in a commercial dryer for a few minutes. Saves money, energy, water, and you get cleaner clothes. You can easily use home-made laundry soap like washing soda and Fels Naptha, and after the rinse, there is NO soap or detergent in your clothes. Also, the whole process is much easier on your clothing, not nearly as much lint and heat destruction, as there is with standard washing. I also have a natural bristle shaving brush and bathing brush, and I spin these out as well. They last longer and never mildew.

Panda Vs. NinaSoft.

The Panda is more expensive. It has a stainless steel drum and exterior. The Ninasoft has a Plastic exterior and I believe a plastic drum.
The Panda is louder. If I do laundry early in the AM, there is a slight possibility the neighboring apartment could hear the hum. The NinaSoft is much quieter.
The Panda does get out more water with the faster spin speed (which probably causes the higher noise levels as well) but the NinaSoft did an OK job of getting water out too.

The Panda has a 5 minute timer on it which is EXTREMELY CONVENIENT. If you forget about the NinaSoft, it will run for hours, with unknown consequences. It might wear out more quickly, there may be a possibility of fire, but I don't know. I just don't like the idea of an appliance running a spinning drum for hours continuously. The Panda cannot do this. It will shut down after 5 minutes no matter what. Good feature!

The Panda is definitely easier to load and balance. I believe it speeds up more slowly, allowing the water (which is the primary weight in the drum) to drain out before stepping up to higher speed. This means that a slightly unbalanced load will seem to "balance itself." However, if you severely unbalance the load, the machine will walk all over the place and fail to speed up. Better to keep things even in there.

The Nina Soft had a VERY convenient handle on top. No such luck with the Panda. You have to bend over and wrap your arms around it to pick it up and move it, and it is heavier than the Nina Soft.

Bottom line: Both work. Both work well. Panda has the 5 minute shut-off and gets a bit more water out. Ninasoft is cheaper and has a great handle. Both are very suitable to use in an apartment with no hookups, or if you live in a "tiny house" or boat.

4/7/2018 Update: Still working perfectly. I am liking the higher speed more and more, and the 5 minute run limit is pure genius. I have a washer and dryer that are extremely handy, yet I use this all the time. Some items like wool vests and fleece sweaters come out of this dry enough to put on. I have done a full size bath towel and the results were amazing. Towels, underwear, socks, anything that doesn't need to look pressed never go in the dryer. I have an indoor rack and everything gets dry in a few hours, even on a rainy day. Towels, and socks may take an overnight hang to get completely dry.

No one makes a larger version, which is a shame.

First the Cons;
My only complaint is probably in the description, not the functionality.
It's not a dryer. Let's get that out of the way. It's a spinner. A spinner isn't a dryer any more than the old wringers were dryers.

Now the Pros:
After using it for several months, I'm still impressed by how much water this thing 'squeezes' out...even from laundry that has already been through a washer's final spin cycle.

The higher speed (3200 rpm) really does help.
I find myself just standing there (while it's running) watching the water come out of the spout, and shaking my head. :)

Once out of the spinner, hanging the very slightly damp clothes up will have them completely dry in a few hours...depending on the material and humidity.
(heavy cotton...like jeans...takes the longest)

It drastically speeds up the drying time of everything in the wash...

OMG! I have a short term rental house where all the laundry and 15 or so towels have to be done every week in 5 hours before guest arrive that afternoon. My cleaning person was having to take laundry home to get it done for the next week, but NOT ANY MORE! Our old washing machine didn't spin the water out well/fast ... and the dryer had too much water to dry and would take two cycles to dry 7 towels. But now, 6-7 towels are done in 30 minutes.... and she gets all the laundry (3-5 beds) and towels done in the 4-5 hours she has to work in. I will revisit this review in a year, to let you know if it is still going. (Summer 2019) It worked great, right out of the box, and we could stuff 3 large towels and a couple of hand towels in each spin. It takes 5 minutes to spin ... and you get 3 cups of water out of 3 towels. We did a load with 3 pairs of jeans and a bunch of under garments too, stuffed full... worked great. It always starts off a bit wabbly, but within 10 seconds, it is going smooth and speedy - super fast! thanks panda! would highly recommend. I imagine the ones that didn't work were rare.

Just got this guy about a day ago and I've already washed 5 loads of laundry in it. It works amazing and I feel like a kid watching it drain out all the water. I've been able to put in 3 or 4 shirts in one load and about 10-12 pairs of socks with no issues. When it came to pants, I could probably load it with 2 pairs of dress pants but I felt it was better to be safe than sorry. Now the machine can go up to about 5 minutes but for all the loads I did, I only ran it for one minute and everything came out almost 100% dry. It was surprising how dry they were, my socks and underwear were almost completely dry and only needed a couple hours to dry. The first time I ran the machine it did have a hard time spinning. I can only assume it was from being in a box so long and never being used before. After the first cycle, it ran great. It did wobble a little on start up but ran smooth afterwards. Do be careful though, if it is unbalanced, it could easily shake itself off the counter or surface it is sitting on. Other than that, I haven't found a single complaint about it and love the thing to death. Most clothes I've washed are almost dry to the point I could wear them afterwards. Love the fact I can wash my work clothes and they are ready to go later the same day or ready for me tomorrow.

It does exactly what it says....If your are looking for a Dryer with heat you need to read better...This does not have heat but it takes ALL of the water out of the clothes so that by the time you take them out they are 90% dry. Only need to hang and they are dry within of hours instead of a couple of days!! Saves on energy bills too!! BUY THIS YOU WON'T BE DISAPOINTED!!!

I really like this spinner. I have a mini washing machine, but no dryer (although I'm going to invest in a panda dryer really soon). It gets a ton of water out of clothes. Just a spinner, not a dryer! I keep a LARGE glass bowl under the drain spout. I've had this for about a year and it still works perfectly. I'm just way slow at doing the review! 😂 I'm also an avid swimmer, so I put my bathing suit in it all the time after hitting up pools or the lake. I'm also very very happy that I threw a little money at it and got the 3200 rpm!

Every pool owner and vacation home needs one of these. SERIOUSLY! The price of this is unbelievable. I was looking to buy a bathing suit dryer similar to the one at my local gym and was shocked that they were over $1,500. I started doing some research and found this. I immediately thought it had to be cheap quality given the price but boy was I wrong. I purchased this for my mother as a gift as they have a hot tub and a cold wet bathing suit is the worst. It's cheaper because it only requires an electrical outlet, not access to draining or water supply. She bought a cute rustic looking bucket to go under the faucet and it looks great. It removes almost all the water and doesn't damage the bathing suits. They're almost completely dry and it's so fast! Given the price point, this is easily one of the best valued products. I will recommend this to everyone.

Worked great! It extracted 1/2 cup of water from a regular load of towels that my regular washer's spin cycle could not do.

It is quiet, built well, and takes up very little space.

Definitely very satisfied!
