I have been wearing my Lumo Lift for about a month to help improve my posture. The device itself has helped me considerably. A coworker has commented that my posture has been very good lately. My 6 year old has taken notice and will randomly yell out “posture” to remind the family to sit up tall.
The first day I wore my Lumo Lift, it kept buzzing me every 2 minutes as I sat at my desk. I quickly noticed that I kept looking down because my monitors were too low. I raised them up and the posture reminders decreased.
I wear the Lumo Lift on an undershirt each day. Typically this shirt seems to be tight enough to keep the Lumo Lift close to my body allowing it to function properly. There have been a couple of days where I didn’t get the Lumo Lift trained properly only to realize it thought I had good posture all morning or that I wasn’t meeting my posture goal.
I worry about the light flashing throughout the day. I wish the light would only flash when you interact with it, but I have seen it flash in the mirror when I get ready in the morning. I have also had one co-worker notice the Lumo Lift when I had a black dress shirt covering it.
The Lumo Lift lasts me about 2 days wearing it 15 hours a day. By the end of the second day, I have about 20-30% battery life left, depending on how much I was buzzed (I do have the coaching sessions on for 12 hours a day). The Lumo Lift does charge very quickly.
As a result, I would give the hardware 5 stars as its benefits far outweigh the LED light (which could be covered by tape).
The app has room for improvement and I would give the app 3 stars.
The app is fairly simple, but could provide a much better user experience. The user experience is behind the times and is limited in terms of what you can do.
The app is getting bug fixes, but there are only a few documented enhancements. I have had the app lose the link to the Lumo Lift twice (the last time was yesterday, after I started writing this review). I tried signing out of the app to try to get it to sync. I’m surprised it doesn’t remember your email address to make it easier to sign in. Both times I needed to reset the Lumo Lift while having it on its power station (click & hold for a while until the lights start changing colors). Interestingly, even though the app said it hadn’t synced since 8 am, it had data into the afternoon.
I like the test functionality in the app and used it to see how well I trained the lift. I think it could use some additional features like showing some of the measurements on where your posture is at or being able to see or adjust the acceptable range.
The goals in the app could be much more customizable. What is 40% good posture? Why can’t I say I want 60%? Why can I only change the number of hours and not the percentage? The same applies for the number of steps, but I consider this an added benefit to wearing the Lumo Lift. Although I’m very skeptical of the calories burned.
Even more importantly is the results.
While the Lumo Lift is not a magic ‘pill’, it effectively raises awareness and reminds you of your posture. It has helped me improve my posture dramatically. While it alone hasn’t been able to reverse the damage I have done by excessive sitting, I believe it is going to help in my recovery and beyond. I started using the Lumo Lift and going to physical therapy at the same time. It has been a slow process, but I am starting to see improvement.
UPDATE 11/14/2016
Lumo Lift updated their app to version 2.0 today. It looks better. I will see how it works in the days to come.
They have also recently updated the firmware of the Lift. I like this release better. It is good to see they are still working on developing this product.

I've struggled with my posture my entire life. I'd write notes to remind myself to stand up straight but no matter what, I always reverted to slouching. But no more! The Lumo Lift has been one of the best purchases I've ever made.
It's easy to use, and once you get used to it, it's easy to tweak. The key is to reset as often as possible during your day.
I'll admit, I was sore at first because my muscles weren't used to correct posture. And it buzzed A LOT at first because it was natural for me to slouch. But now (I've been wearing it for 6 months) perfect posture is the norm. I looked at a picture of myself with family members over Christmas and it was really amazing how much posture makes a difference.
As an added bonus, I dropped 10 pounds. Just melted off. It may be because I'm obsessed with getting my 10,000 steps per day, but I suspect it's also because with correct posture, all my organs can now function at their optimal level.
I can't say enough good things. I maybe hesitated at the price a little bit, because I thought "how much can it help?" If you're thinking that, hesitate no more. If you've always struggled with your posture, the Lumo Lift is life changing, and that is not an exaggeration.
OMG! Lumo Lift is superb. I injured my neck which caused my neck to shorten and my head to jut forward. (sort of what you look like when you are on your mobile devices!) I discovered this near the end of three months of PT. PT helped but Lumo Lift is helping now because I can set it with my head pulled back slightly more than it should. When I relax too much it buzzes me and lets me know I need to straighten up again. If you have the slightest bit of problems with your posture, I really do recommend this product. More & more people are going to be having problems because we are all slouching when on our devices. Look at your children's posture or anyone's as they sit using devices. Look at the people as you walk down the street. See how their head juts forward. Correct it now before it's too late. OK, I'm finished. :D
I bought the first Lumo lift from the company about 6 weeks back,and the second on Amazon about 2 weeks later.These are approximate dates.I got the second one because I thought the first was defective.I think I was wrong,I just did not understand this system well.I still have the first unit.In terms of background,I am 79 years old in good shape,with sleep apnea my major problem.About 9 months back I noticed that good posture helps my sleep.It also improves the oxygen levels in my blood.Woow--all this without pills,and visit to sleep doctors. one of the issues with sleep apnea is that the O2 levels in the blood drop below 95 percent which creates all kinds of health hazards .Dont get me started on this.I was determined to have the Lumo work for me.IT WAS NOT Easy!!But it mostly works well now.I found that I need to line the unit as close to my sholder bone as possible in a horizontal position. The other problem that occurs is that the app. on my apple 5 phone locks.I don't know why.So now I remove the app and install a new one.I am a slow learner but I know now that I need to provide the app the same data-at one time I used my computer name,so the old info was erased.This is a new area,and I am sure it will improve with time.The comments from others were great help to me---but for the kindness of strangers--and I kept trying .My best to all.
Update Apr 2019: Interestingly, someone is still updating/maintaining the IOS app.
It worked well for me for over a year. Had to replace when I washed it. However the company has ceased operations as of Jun 29, 2018, so bear this in mind if you are looking to buy this. Too bad! Check their website to see the announcement. Hopefully, someone will resuscitate it.

I have been using the Lumo Lift Posture Coach for about 6 weeks now and can honestly say that it is the best $99 I've ever spent. I was really suffering from lower back pain(SI joint). I tried everything including physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, TENS and two spinal cortisone injections, with very little relief. Physical therapy taught me that I needed to improve my core muscle strength, but what they didn't tell me was I needed to stand up STRAIGHT, with my spine aligned! All the time!
I always thought I had good posture but didn't realize how much I actually slouch (even lean) during the day. Standing at the counter, or sitting in front of the computer are the worst. This little device reminds me every time I slouch, and is training me to maintain good spinal alignment. It also buzzes me when I have been sitting too long in one position, reminding me of the need to get up, move around a little and SIT UP! :-)
While my back isn't healed 100% yet, it's getting better and I credit the Lumo Lift Posture Coach for much of the improvement. I've raved about it to all my friends and definitely recommend it to anyone who is suffering from back pain.
I have been really happy with my Lumo Lift and would purchase again if the need arose. When I first got it, I would set where the correct posture was. It would then buzz me a minute later. Turns out that I would slouch as soon as I got even the slightest bit distracted. The Lumo Lift has been a tremendous help in making me more aware of when I tend to slouch, thus giving me the tools I need to work towards improving my posture.

-It is not water resistant (it lost a star for not being water resistant)
-There is no way to enter steps taken when you would take the lumo lift off (like if you know you're gonna be sweaty or otherwise getting wet). Along those lines, I wish it synced with my Lumo Run so that I would have a total tally for steps taken for that day. Or if it was water resistant, I could wear it and my Lumo Run simultaneously.
-It would be nice if I could make notes on the day at the end of the day
-It only comes with a USB charging cable. There is no wall adapter.
-It counts time when you are moving as good posture time. I like that it is encouraging an active lifestyle, but I wish it would monitor my posture while I'm walking around too.
At first I was skeptical. But then when I received the product which by the way was in great condition even though it was refurbished or used, it really does work. You download the app and it gives you set times to sit up straight basically. It works very well. Between sessions it also gives you a choice to do a short exercise. And by short exercise I mean literally it’s one thing so of course you do it because it’s not hard. I’ll together I would totally say that this is a great product and i Went from sitting up straight 8 minutes out of 60 the next day sitting up straight 31 minutes out of 60. Totally worth the money. If you put it inside of your bra no one can see it. It has a magnetic clasp that will attach it to the fabric.
I have horrible posture and this product really works when I wear it and for awhile after I take it off. I can see how with long term use your muscles will be trained to realign. The actual device itself as well as the app are easy to use. Just stand up as straight as you can and press the device twice to turn it on. It will remind you with a quiet buzz when you stray from your upright position. I usually magnet it to my bra strap with the little square magnet, because I have almost tossed it in the washer when I had it attached to my shirt. On the bra strap I have to be careful because my purse strap occasionally knocks it off and it falls out under my shirt. The bra clip that it comes with is a joke, unless your straps are extraordinarily thick and wide. I deducted a star because the charge doesn't last long and if I don't charge it all night it won't work in the morning which means another day of no constant sit up straight reminders and therefore continued bad posture. I have gotten numerous compliments on my improved posture when using this device. Despite my minor issues described above, I would highly recommend the product to anyone looking to improve their posture.
This product is a lifesaver. I have been struggling with severe neck problems for years and knew that I needed to fix my posture but that's so hard to do as you slump the minute you stop thinking about it. This product does exactly what it says it will. Every time I slightly slip out of good posture it gives me an alert. I've been using it for several weeks now and I'm optimistic that this is going to radically change my life - no kidding! My neck/upper back is already a million times better than when I started using the product (I've had it a few weeks now). I'm hopeful I will continue to get better and stronger as my spine/muscles recover and I hope that I can get back to all the activities I've not been able to do the last few years due to pain. I can't recommend this product highly enough.
