This little ice maker churned out LOTS of ice for me in the 1.5 years I used it. Then suddenly something went wrong with the sensor that stops the machine when the basket is full. It says "ice full" as soon as I turn it on. I've tried cleaning the sensors, leaving the lid open to let it dry out, nothing got it going again. I had purchased an extended warranty so they're sending me a check for the full price. I would recommend an ice maker with a mechanical arm that stops the machine when the basket weighs it down, as opposed to one with this kind of sensor. But to reiterate; this little machine made lots of ice. I ran it almost every day for 10-12 hours per day before it quit.
This is our second Koldfront Portable Ice Maker. We loved the first one so much that when it quit working we immediately ordered a second one. The ice is a nice "soft" ice and the machine makes ice fast. It is not easy to clean because it is heavy and awkward to wrestle around without getting the motor wet, but is worth the trouble to have good ice quickly. Our first one lasted 4 years and we might have been able to have it repaired, but for the price of a new one, we just bought a new one. We live in the south and like our ice!
We had another counter top ice maker but recently it stopped working. Luckily I had gotten a warranty on it and was able to get us this Koldfront as a replacement. We actually like this better than our original one. It makes the ice faster & it runs more quietly. The white also matches our other kitchen appliances so it looks good as well. The outside is easy to wipe down and maintenance is pretty simple. All in all a this is a great little ice machine.
I really liked this item. It has a cube size selector, and I like that if you don't use the ice made, it will melt and return to the reservoir to be used for more ice. I bought this for my significant other at the time, and he absolutely loved it. the only drawback was that it sometimes didn't produce ice quick enough for two people, so this is great if its just one person and their solo cup full of adult beverage, but for more than that, its not really effective.
Excellent, makes ice very fast . Only down fall is the ice dispenses very wet, my ice maker in freezer quit working around a year ago and after several attempts at fixing it ,I admitted defeat!! I now use my freezer ice maker as a ice dispenser with the help of my Koldfront, very happy with it.

I am very pleased to have this ice maker. I never have enough room in my freezer for ice cube trays, and even when I do it takes forever to freeze ice cubs that way. The best points about the ice maker:
1. It keeps a constant supply of ice available.
2. I only have to add water every day or two, and then it takes only a few minutes to freeze up some more ice for me.
3. The cubes are much smaller than those made in ice trays, and so work better in slimmer glasses.
I can't vouch for how well it would serve as a bar accessory or for when you have company, since neither of those are something I care to do; so read other reviews for opinions on that.
It may seem a little expensive, but to me it's more than worth the price.
Treat yourself to some icy luxury and buy this!
We bought this to add to our ice supply in our RV. We think it will really be a big asset when we learn how to use it efficiently. Unless it is cold enough to need indoor heat, use it outdoors. It generates a lot of heat. You can really speed up the process by using very cold water in the reservoir. The cubes are small and a bit wet, but they cool adult beverages nicely.
Of course, I wish it was faster, and the cubes bigger and colder. However, it is small, weighs under 20 pounds, is inexpensive and easy to use and provides extra ice when dealing with a tiny refrigerator in hot weather. We believe it will fill our needs nicely.

Love this. We have it in my office and several people use it. Note you will need a pitcher to fill it. I got a 1.5qt one, a full 2 qt pitcher can be heavy to carry back and forth. It's nice to have ice and even the bosses think it's pretty nifty. Just glancing at it, some think it's a bread maker. LOL. Maybe next time. I have a light colored office space and desk so it doesn't stick out a lot. Consider where it will sit when chosing a color as it's pretty large.
It does make some noise so I wouldn't want it sitting right next to me at my desk but I wouldn't say it's loud.
Purchased this unit to use while our other one, a different brand was being repaired. Turns out both are the same unit. This one cost less. No problem so far. We do use a water filter to ensure only clean water enters the unit. Produces more ice than we can use. Just remember, if you take ice out, add water back to the line or just below. We keep a pitcher next to the unit for that purpose ONLY.
Update. Got the other one back just in time. They have replaced this unit with a new one because it had a problem. The tray was not filling full with water therefore small ice only. Purchased 3 year service contract also.
